He is such a good professor. He is willing to go the extra mile to help anyone. Twice throughout the semester, I forgot to do my online homework, and he was willing to open it back up for me just to finish. If you have an A in his class at the end, you don't have to take the final. He does have an accent and at times it can be hard to understand him, but he is one of the best professors I've ever had.

Dr. Nguyen is by far THE nicest man I have ever met. He genuinely loves math, especially teaching it. He always has a wonderful attitude and is ready to help you. His class comprises of quizzes and tests. The quizzes are 20 points each, with an extra credit question (usually between 1-3 points). The tests are 50 points (also with extra credit). The class is very easy and structured. He closely follows the book, and takes his time going over plenty of problems. The homework problems are not mandatory, but the test/quiz problems are modified homework problems, so it would be useful to look over them at the least.

I took this class in the summer and dreaded it. I knew nothing about calculus but it was required for my major. Thanks to Dr. Nguyen I passed the course. I'd had a family tragedy in the middle of the class and was ready to give up, but Dr. Nguyen would not let me quit and was available to me and anyone who needed to stay after class for help. The final was not mandatory if you had a passing grade and he truly made the class fascinating and calculus understandable. I'd take him all over again if I needed Calc II.

Dr. Nguyen made sure to give you a surplus of notes and examples to allow you to study for his tests. If anyone in the class didn't understand what he was teaching at the time, he would not continue to the next topic until he/she did. You could always catch him during his office hours and he would always be willing to help. Any calc class you need to take, take him!

It's a Nguyen-win situation when taking Dr. Nguyen. He offers obscene extra credit (10% points!!!!). Calc I is a pretty easy course and the fact that you have this extra credit barrier means that this is a math course you don't have to freak out about. Plus, on top of all that, Dr. Nguyen is absolutely hilarious in an unintentional way. Take Dr. Nguyen, because "he loves everyone who loves Calculus."

This was my first math class in college, and I found it to be extremely easy! I thought my high school Calculus class was three times harder than this class! Dr. Nguyen gives you formula sheets to use on all quizes and tests (including the final!) I forgot my formula sheets the day of the final and he left the room during the final and made copies for me! He loves his job and is very funny. He is from Vietnam, so he can be hard to understand! He wants to help you, so he does take time and answer your questions. Great Teacher!

I highly recommend Dr.Nguyen. There were a few times that I was lost in his class but I was still able to receive an A. His grading methods are the best! You are given the opportunity to earn 10 points extra credit, which helped a lot. He adds it onto your final grade. So if you have an 80% and receive all 10 points extra credit then you'll end up having a 90% in his class. He also drops 2 quiz grades. If you're having problems he's willing to help out at any time he's available. He's a pretty funny guy, too.

Nguyen is the greatest math teacher I have ever had. He gives you what you need to know and will go back and help whoever has questions. He loves questions. The book is necessary because he gives the homework from it. He doesn't take the homework up. I never did my homework, and cracked the book once I believe. He gave us online homework assignments for an extra 10% to our final grade. I learned a lot from this guy and this was one of my more enjoyable classes. He has a good sense of humor, too which is nice.

He is an awful teacher! Half of the time we go through 3 sections of the book in a day. He goes ridiculously fast. It is hard to keep up with him and he doesn't really stop for questions. He does offer extra credit but he will typically only give a point or two. I am good at math and I might end up failing this class. Do not take him unless you have no other choice. He is a bad teacher.

Professor Nguyen is a good teacher because he tries really hard to get us to understand. He is always happy and smiling and he can be funny. If you do the optional homework he assigns the quizzes are easy and the tests come from the quizzes. He can be hard to understand, but he writes everything on the board. If you are good in Algebra, this class is a breeze.

I took this class with Dr. Brunson and failed miserably. Dr. Nguyen, however, made this class so much easier for me. He is a little hard to understand at first, but I was okay after a week or so. He really likes math and he cares about his students and wants them to do well. There are 4 exams and a cumulative final as well as weekly quizzes (there is extra credit on every test and quiz), of which he drops the lowest 2. He also gives you the entire period on Friday for tests and quizzes. He said attendance was mandatory but he quit taking attendance; but if you go to class and pay attention and ask for help when you need it (he will bump your final grade up a percentage point or two if you show an honest effort), you can easily make an A.

Best math teacher I've ever had. He's hard to understand for about the first week. Then you get used to his accent and it becomes easier. He's willing to work with anyone either in or out of class. Do the homework and ask questions and you'll pass for sure. He doesn't take up homework but there's a quiz or a test every Friday. There's always extra credit problems on the quizzes or tests. I'd take him for any math that he's available.

I loved this little Vietnamese man!!! He is so funny, he cracks me up!! His accent isn't bad at all, I could understand every word he said. As far as the class goes, it's set up very easy. There are 4 tests and a quiz every friday. If you are a Thursday night alcoholic you might not like that, but suck it up at put down the bottle. He gives extra credit on every test and quiz. His teaching methods are great. I understood everything and I have never had calculus before. He is willing to help you outside of class. I went to his office hours often, he helped me a lot! The quizzes are worth 20 points, tests are 50, and the final is 100. There are lots of opportunities to earn points, plus the extra credit. Take Dr. Nguyen!! It's easy!

Dr. Nguyen is no doubtedly one of the best math professors I have had. His lectures are clearly organized and his exams are more than fair. He assigns homework every week, but you don't have to turn it in. He even pulls identical questions from the homework for the exam. He is a very likable person, always willing to help (in class and out), and he loves math and loves teaching it. He gives 9 quizzes and 4 tests plus the comprehensive final. He drops the two lowest quiz grades. He is difficult to understand the first week and a half of lecture because he is from Vietnam, however if you hang in there you will be able to understand him nearly perfectly. I recommend him to anyone taking upper-level math.

I've always been a math person. I love to solve problems. The only difficulty with this class is understanding the method to solve certain problems.
Mr. Nguyen is Vietnamese and has a thick accent. The only word i understood thoughout the term was "Good?". If you have no trouble teaching yourself math than you will have no trouble with this class.
I wish i had known before the class drop date that i did not have to take this level of math. Now because of this course i will not be recieving a 4.0 for my first term (i have A's in all my other classes).
I regret taking this course.

Dr. Nguyen was a very helpful teacher. He gives you a homework sheet at the beginning of every week, which is pretty much the same as the problems on his quizzes and tests. He will work any of the problems in the homework. The material is pretty tough though and you cover a lot. For the final, there are a lot of things you have to memorize from all the chapters which makes it tough, but overall the class isn't all that bad.

I highly recommend Dr. Nguyen to anybody that has to take upper-level math. The first week and a half of class is hard because he is from Vietnam and has an accent. However, once you are around him for a little while you can understand him perfectly and he becomes one of the best and most organized teachers around. Quizzes are given every friday over the weeks' material, but as long as you study they will be easy. His tests are also not difficult--often times he picks problems straight from the homework for the test. As for personality, he is very nice and respectful and really wants all of his students to like math and learn. This is an invaluable quality.
