This class was actually pretty cool. There were 3 tests counting the final. There was also a participation grade and a current event presentation. I don't think he really cares about the grades he just wanted everyone to enjoy themselves and learn a little about what goes on in the ocean. He did show favoritism towards the girls though which was the only bad part. If you get a chance, take this class it was pretty awesome.

Although this class was fairly simple it has to be the greatest waste of time to a competent biology major (unlike the graduate students who "teach" it). The class is based entirely out of a dull, dry lab manual, where you have to basically "draw" your way to an "A" (well, that's part of the lab).
First off, the material is relatively simple. If you know the material in Bio 122, the lab should be a cake walk. How the material is tested and taught though is where the class falls into an abyss of failure. The graduate students first off have the worst teaching skills I have every seen. They also want you to memorize pointless information "i.e memorizing pictures of certain slides" (oh, I should mention, your study material for that portion is your own drawing). The pointless information portion of the lab is what really kills you. (I.e...who wants to know the cranial index of homo sapiens....or how is that going to help you in the real world?).
Just bite your lip and try to not cuss out your TA. I got an A, but I complained every step of the way because of the stupidity and irrelevance of the lab material.

Yes, Dr. Huskeys class is easy. All of his notes are posted on Blackboard at the beginning of the semester and his test question come directly from most of the bold key terms of the notes. Attendance is not required, however sometimes he will put questions on the exams that he says in class, that are not on the hardcopy of the notes. Just like every other evaluation, Dr. Huskey is EXTREMELY cocky. He is a good teacher, but dont get on his bad side. And the best advice I can give to any student wanting to take Dr. Huskeys class...during an exam DO NOT lift your head from your paper. He will accuse you of cheating without giving you any fair warning other than reminding the class to keep your eyes on your own paper. This happened to a student in my class and he will dock you an entire letter grade. Sit as far away from any other students as you can, as he does not require any space in between seats. Needless to say, if you are a gazer or whatsoever dont count on being one of his "favorites".

Dr. Huskey is a funny guy and a active professor. He tells you the first day he is hear to teach and isnt all about research like other professors. The class consists of a few lectures about marine animals and oceanography the rest of the time you watch movies and take notes over them. The exams (3) are all 50 questions and are mostly multiple choice, easy A. He will crack you up and intrigue you into marine biology.

Dr. Huskey is an entertaining and interesting professor. You will not get bored in his class because he always relates the information to real life situations or tells a story about the concept that he has actually encountered. He does use curse words regularly in class. On the down side if it comes crunch time and things get controversial or demanding between him and you he acts in an unprofessional way by cursing at you and getting very agitated with the situation.

Dr. Huskey is a great teacher, he works to make sure everyone in the class understands the material and presents it in a way that everyone can truly understand it. Not a difficult class as long as you study the powerpoints before each test. All test are multiple choice and some of the questions come from the information he says in class to make sure you come, although attendance isn't mandatory.

Dr. Huskey is a great teacher. He's really funny and makes the material easy to understand and relate to. He has a lot of little anecdotes that make the class less boring. Plus he's not so bad to look at...
All the notes are on blackboard so you don't have to go to class. I didn't go half the time, but I did have to study twice as hard when test time rolled around. You won't be tested on anything that isn't in the notes on blackboard. You take all the tests at the testing center in Garrett - you can take them up to 3 times within a 2 week period and your LAST score is kept, NOT your best score. This is a good method except when you make a decent score the second time (then you don't know whether to take it a third time because you could do worse).
The lab is DEFINITELY the hardest part about this class. I was lucky to have a great TA teaching mine, but some weren't so fortunate. There is so much memorization and the bone and muscle tests were the hardest. I thought the lab was outrageously hard.

This class is mostly memorization. You have to be able to devote time to studying. He doesn't mandate attendance but it is a really good idea to go anyways because he explains a LOT and breaks it down. He's a hilarious teacher and is very straightforward and down to earth. He makes it as simple as possible. He is a great teacher, and if you don't understand something he really likes helping you and will help you to understand anything you don't quite grasp. He is a WONDERFUL teacher and if you have to have this class I would definitely take him. Not to mention the fact that he is super hot! :)

Dr. Huskey is very arrogant. First of all, it was very obvious that he favored certain students in the class. One girl in particular, who he has been seen with outside of class, was favored. Being a girl myself, I knew exactly what was going on. The course material is not difficult, but Dr. Huskey thinks he is Gods gift to women. His flirtacious behavior is unprofessional and not needed in the classroom setting. It was very apparent that Dr. Huskey has an alterior motive and I feel awfully sorry for his wife. He wears a ring, so I assume he is married. You would not know it if you had not seen the ring.

Dr. Huskey seemed like he was going to be a good teacher, but he ended up being awful. He told us the first day that all of our test would be online at the testing center and we could take them three times. So it sounded easy enough. It wasn't. He wasn't there to ask questions at test time and you never got to see what questions you got wrong. I made a B in the lab because I had a good teacher.
He doesn't ever teach during lecture. He just reads through the power point slides, which is boring, and doesn't give you any sort of study guide for the tests. I would take Mason instead. Huskey sucks.

This man is extremely cocky. Yes, cool, but cocky. He appeals to his students by trying to act like one himself. If you have a disability, DO NOT TAKE HIM. Sure, he will sign the paper, but he will NOT let you use your accomodations. He actually told me that he was going to report me to Disability Services for abusing my accomodations. I had already asked them if I could use them on this particular assignment before asking him, and they said YES. Of course, I never got in trouble with Disability Services and still get my accomodations. I have a full academic scholarship at WKU, I'm not stupid nor am I lazy. He told me I was using my disability as an excuse. I asked for a 24 hr. extension of the Scientific Paper in the lab he supervised and he refused. This was the last week of school. I NEVER used or asked for any other accomodation during the lecture OR lab until finals week on this paper. He is seriously an ass. He even told me that I might want to change my major because he didn't think I would make it. Oh, and the first day of his class he will tell you that he curses and "there's the door if you don't like it." I am actually not offended by cursing, but it was the point that he was so arrogant. I don't feel that he should be so confident in something he is not supposed to do as a professor. I must say, his lectures were actually more interesting than most Biology lectures.

This course is difficult no matter who you have, but Huskey is a good teacher. You take tests in the computer lab and can take them up to three times. It really helps your grade. He is nice and will help you if you need it. Attendence isn't mandatory, but I found it helpful to go anyway. He's cute and isn't bad to look at for an hour. There are a lot of notes, which you print off Blackboard; you just have to keep up. It's much harder if you wait until the last minute to study. You'll be ok if you study a lot and don't wait until the last minute. Good luck!

It does NOT take the highest score on each test. It takes the last test score. It was an okay system. I always felt like i did better on the tests than i really did.

To begin with -- I really like Dr. Huskey and he is NOT the reason I rated this class poorly. WKU's Biology department believes for some reason that they need to get everyone to fail this course possible by teaching a lab that is more difficult than the lecture class (which by the way, is usually taught by students the same age of you).
Dr. Huskey did a great job with the lecture class and was very understandable. He teaches fairly and justly and is very intelligent. I came out of lecture with a B.
The problem lies in the lab. I more than likely got an F in lab, which is what caused me to get a D in the course. The lab is taught by "student instructors." Unfortunately, we are not given the opportunity to evaluate these "student instructors" or I am pretty sure that there would be NO student instructors. Actually, anyone could do what they did --- copied notes off of a paper that was given to them and then expected you to teach yourself everything else! OVERALL, the lab sucked!
I thought in lab we would be doing experiments, OH NO- you basically try to memorize everything that there is to memorize about Anatomy and Physiology and end up learning NOTHING.
I am very disappointed in the WKU Biology department. Take Huskey for sure though, that way you at least learn something.
GOOD LUCK!

I have not had Huskey for any of my classes; however I have had to deal with him outside of class. When working with him to prepare a presentation for a different discipline I found him to be extremely rude and unhelpful. He insulted me on multiple occasions despite the fact that I showed him nothing but respect, and he went out of his way to snub me. From reading some of the other posts it appears as if women find him attractive and he teaches an easy class but I can only guess that if they above people had to interact with the man for any period of time that whatever physical attractiveness the man had would soon be eclipsed by his repugnant personality.

Even though he's kind of weird and dumpy looking (I don't know what all these prepubescent soriety girls are pining over; he looks like Mr. Potato Head cum highschool jock), he's reasonable with the curriculum. He understands you're only taking it because it's required and he is adept at making Biology a relatively painless experience; he even goes to the extent of eliminating most of the technical jargon. He's simple and fun.
But, COME ON! He's not "hot" at all. He's just a pair of broad shoulders held together by a small, caved in head.

hes a really understand guy about grades, many times he'll offer extra credit after the class has done poorly on a test. hes also easy to relate to, and doesnt speak to his students as if they were stupid. you can take notes or not, everything is on blackboard, but notes REALLY help when youre studying. his tests are creative, many times there are strange choices, like "bass-ackwardase" on multiple choices. expect people to laugh when they first read the test....and oh yeah.........he really is VERY nice to look at, especially in black pants.

Dr. Huskey is cool as hell. I hated biology in highschool, absolutely hated it, but I really enjoyed his class. I never liked sciences period, but he makes it fun. Even though attendance is not mandatory b/c of everything being on blackboard, he makes you want to come. He is a really good teacher despite him being kinda new. I would so reccommend him to anyone; not to mention he is easy on the eyes and has a nice ass.
