Although there is a lot busy work, this class is pretty easy. She is giving us 20extra credit points for filling out surveys at the end of the semester! She is very nice and is helpful when you need assistance. There are lots of gimme points. No reason not to take this course.Very interesting as well!

I wish I had found this site before I took this class. I should have known from the first week when we had to snail mail her a 4 page signed student info sheet that this class was going to be bad. I've read other Comm 263 Professor reviews at WKU and they talk about their classes being too easy. I wish I had taken one of them. She takes this WAY too seriously because she is Austrian and she is getting her PHD in Int. Communication. Do not take this class unless you just want to inflict pain on yourself. Does 50 pages of reading and 1.5 hours of rambling lecture videos a week sound good? How about a 25 question worksheet and at least 2 essay length discussion board posts a week? Then there are 2 papers, a group project, 6 Int. guest db posts and 3 proctored exams for the class. The proctored exam part is a nightmare. I had to drive forever and pay $25 per test at my proctor site. I talked to the test admin and he said 3 tests is unheard of. 1 is normal. 3 for this level of class is insane. She also can't COMMUNICATE which is ironic considering what the class is. She gets mad when students miss parts of the class but it is impossible not too. There is no centralized list for things that are due. You have to read the syllabus every week, watch a youtube video, check your email, look at the course announcements and then check the group folder, assignments folder and content folder. This is all just to make sure you haven't missed anything for the week. I would rather get 500 root canal's then live through this class again. So much busy work!

Sabine Chai takes this course entirely too seriously. The syllabus/schedule was 19 pages long and filled with pages of useless, elementary information. At the beginning of the course, not only do you have to complete an introduction discussion board, but you also have to complete a student information sheet with 4 pages of pointless questions. Chai says that people who don't complete it don't do well or complete the course, probably because they realize then that the class is more work than it's worth. As far as the course material, it's the same things you've always heard in any other intercultural comm course. In addition to the weekly discussion board, you also have to complete these elementary worksheets for each chapter before you even have access to the db or quiz. Your tests must be proctored which sucks for people who are out of state because you have to pay to take them at a local campus. This class is full of busy work. If you have the option to take this course with anyone else, do so.

I thought Dr. Chai was a good teacher and enjoyed the class for the most part. We only had to give four speeches and they were fairly short. Instead of a final we just had to turn in a couple page paper and present it. There were a few easy 10 question quizzes and about 3 exams. The exams were multiple choice with 2 or 3 short answer questions...This class seems easier than some of the other speech classes my friends took. I would recommend it!

Talks in circles and tests don't cover material in class or from book. She is not originally from America and some test questions are worded very poorly.
