There are no tests or textbooks in the class. It is difficult only bc of the amount of work you get. There is one group project (3-5 minutes), a scene analysis that takes basically forever to do, and your final short film. You have to write your own script and analyze everyone else's. Also, your short film is worth 25% of your grade. Considering anyone taking the class is a major, there is no way you wont like this class. Ron is AWESOME! He has no qualms about helping you and actually likes to do so. He talks about movies all the time. This is the best class I have taken thus far! Ron DeMarse is the best professor in the department by far.

Ron's online tutorials are awesome! Make sure you keep up with them though. You don't have to go to class as long as you watch the tutorials. There are 3 projects and a practical at the end of the term that is worth 50% of your grade. (Another reason to keep up w. the class) Ron is more than willing to help whenever he can. He's a pretty funny guy, too. Relatively easy class as long as you watch the videos on his website.

This teacher does no way haz any idea wa’tch da nigga iz talking about. niggas know these programs an’ da nigga does no way. wa’tch iz up with this? meh remember one specific dey in class when niggas waz listening ta wa’tch da teacher waz saying an’ da nigga goed off on a long saying about how much compression we needed in this place. da niggas in class waz so confused.

Two times meh asked that nigga professor where da three D layout waz fo’ da After Effects stuff an’ da nigga said there aint one. da problem iz, meh found da thang an’ there iz one. wa’tch ya’ll think about that! Slap meh FRO!!

Anyways, ya’ll niggas need ta decide fo’ ya’lls self, because ya’ll never know da thang might just be mah head or something.

This class is basically just a movie watching class. You have to do journals on each movie, but if you write on the assigned topic its no problem. Tests are moderate, if you read the chapters and know the characters in the movies watched in class you can get an easy A. Attendance is not necessarily required, but if you go to every class you get a 100% in participation so it is beneficial to go.

Ron Demarse is a great teacher, he is one of the only Broadcast teachers that i really liked. He's a movie guy and teaches his class that way, if you're a movie buff this is the guy to take! His tests can be hard at times, but he gives you plenty of opportunities to study and do some extra credit. His projects are always a blast! Take his class!

Ok first of all this class totally sucks. DeMars sucks as a prof. His tests have a crazy number of questions and everyone fails it! He curves but then again whats the point of the class if you fail the test only to get a curve to pass a test. The class is pointless, he talks about random shit that NEWS students don't care about. DeMars is a movie geek and thus he believes that his class should be the same way, we watch short movies in class that do not help NEWS students. We made two PKG's the entire semester, not enough to even put on a resume tape. The final project is a movie, not anything useful to the NEWS students. If you can and hope that you will be able to FIND ANOTHER PROF!! This class was the worst class I have ever had in BCOM!!!

This class is ridiculous. He expects us to go into detail and get excited about learning about editing! Most of the people that take this class are news majors who have no interest in learning about editing at all, I got the jist of it and I still got a D because it wasnt good enough for him! He doesnt really teach us much, the tests are hard and there is no point in studying because most everybody fails but he does curve! Get your stuff done early and make sure its on your tape because you can fail easily for not turning in one thing..Overall this class sucks
