"Look at me, I'm a lawyer and therefor smarter than you"...That sums up how Dr. Hatfield thinks, AVOID IF POSSIBLE!

I read some of the reviews and only idiots must be posting here. This is a basic term-oriented class that Dr. Hatfield actually makes interesting. For instance, he DOESN'T just read ALL of the powerpoints to us (looks like a couple of my fellow students actually want that -- go figure). He focuses upon only certain concepts instead in each chapter. I appreciate that he is a lawyer, but I think he only mentioned that one time. We worked on a charity which was the best thing I have done in college. So, if you are looking for a dumbell class - follow the guidance of the other posters. If you want to learn something and ENJOY class -- take Hatfield.

Horrible! Barely recommended! If you get a good grade in this class it will be due to the fact that you dont have a life because of all of the preperation for his stupid tests. He pulls the questions from a magical hat. you prepare 250 terms on youre own and after that you have to use them for a 25 multiple question test............ oh and 3 essays. No study guide. No way of preparing you. This class should count as a independent study course. Oh and he tells the class he is a lawyer (everyday). If you choose to disregard this post youre either desperate or ignorant. Anyways goodluck to you!

His name is not Bob it is "PhD, JD ." Tells the class everyday that he is a lawyer. And if he is not rambling about his so-called "credentials," his nose sticks in the air while he looks down upon the class. (Unless you're a female or an athlete). Tests are 25 M.C. 3 Essays. Almost 200 defenitions to prepare for each test. The essays are given before hand in a list but by the time you get done writing the first essay-time is up. 3 Articles are due over the course of the semester. It seems easy, but if you're not an athlete (In which he prepares the student-athletes before class with) You will be embarressed from his arrogant "omniscience." Typical lawyer to argue with someone just reading off a news article.... The funny thing is that he thinks we care about these articles. Barely reccomended unless you like debating Ph.D's nostrils. (His nose is still in the air)

Personally, I think he is moron. He reminds you everyday that he is a lawyer and was a Human Resource Manager everyday.
Test are a pain to study for. Roughly 120 definitions to memorize and only 25 are on the test. Possibility of 10 essays to study and 3 are on the test. They arent terrible, but I had to do a lot of preparing.
You have a group project. You must do 10 hours of community service for a charity, and then write a 7 page paper (singled spaced) breaking down that organization. In that paper you have to apply 4 concepts which he must approve in advance (and I wish you the best of luck at that). If it sounds hard...well...it is.

Dr. Bob is GREAT!!!!!! He loves is job and knows the material. Exams are MC (~75pts) with up to 3 essay questions (~25pts). There were 3 groupwork assignments(cases) but they were fairly easy - they gave you hands on experience with the chapter material. I highly recommend this class.

Dr Hatfield is a good teacher. He enjoys his job! He will give you the essay possibilities for the test - memorize the answers. That will help you a lot on the test. Other than that, look over the definitions in the book and you will get an A or B easily. The project is very time-consuming and he doesn't grade them hard at all. Basically he uses it if you are borderline on your grade. Participate in class and stay on his good side bc he can be rude at times. Let him think that he right.

I did not like this class. I didn't learn much of anything. One time he left class because we weren't participating. The research project is rediculous, and the essays are so hard that you hardly have time to finish them in the time allotted.

I absolutely loved this class!! Dr Bob was one of the best prof's that I have had. I REALLY enjoyed the class. Lectures are interesting, class discussion was led in such a way that everyone participated. Even the group project was OK, and I hate group projects.

This was a very challenging class but one of the best classes I've ever had at WKU. I learned more in this course than any other course I've had at WKU and I would recommend any other MBA students needing an elective to take this course. If you're looking for an easy course to get by then take something else, but if you're looking for a class that will help build the necessary skills to manage people and help you in your career objectives then sign up for BA 560.
