I loved this class. It seemed a little daunting at first, but it was less intimidating the more I got into it. Dr. Whetstone breaks the material down into individual units and covers the material in each unit very thoroughly. She was always available for extra explanations anytime I needed it either in her office or via email. I learned so much in this class compared to my other classes in the EXED curriculum.

Dr. Whetstone spent a lot of time going over and explaining the material that was not adequately addressed in the text. She spent a lot of time trying to teach the material so that all the students in the class had an understanding of the concepts. I would take another class with her anytime.

Dr. Whetstone was by far the best professor I ever had while at WKU. She cared about every student in her class as a person and as an up-and-coming educator. She made the material easier to understand through her own stories about her experience in the classroom. She answered emails in a timely manner, and she was willing to meet with you, even after office hours, to help clear up anything you didn't understand. Her classes her jam-packed with useful information any pre-service teacher would need to know before stepping into their own classroom. If you are willing to work for the grade you get, you will do well in any of her classes. I thoroughly enjoyed having her as a professor, and I wish I could have taken some of my graduate classes from her. If you have the privilege of taking a class from her, you will not regret it.

This class may seem intimidating at first, but it comes together nicely. There are individual modules/units that must be completed by a certain date. There may be multiple things due within these units. There was not a midterm or final however, there was a quiz here and there. If you are not in the classroom, do not freak out. There are a few lengthy assignments. It took me hours to find two journal articles that would work for the journal article assignment. The critical performance indicator also takes some time but is very beneficial and fun. I have learned more from this class than any other I've taken for my MAE-LBD. Great class! Great professor!

I think the previous student evaluation forgot to mention that the "expensive book" that the whole class was required to purchase was a book that was written partly by her. You know what that means? We were all just padding her pockets. Not only was the book poorly written, but the material was not relevant to the course. I was also very disappointed with Dr. Whetstone, take someone else. And if you can only take her as a professor, buddy up with someone (or 5 someones) in the class and share the cost of the book. I'm not kidding, it was the biggest waste of money since I have gotten to college, undergrad or graduate degree.

I took this class and could not have been more disappointed. She was rarely available to meet with, emails took 2-3 minimum to be answered and a research paper was finally graded 2 months after it's due date and looked as though it had been graded by someone other than Dr. Whetstone. Our final paper was not graded at all, everyone I have spoken to received 100% with no comments of any kind. We were also required to purchase an expensive book that we used for one assignment. I would recommend any teacher but her, she's terrible.

Dr. Whetstone is great! She really cares about her students and wants them to be the best teachers they can possibly be! She has a ton of experience and shares a lot of stories about actual students that she has worked with, which gives a lot of practical insight into this subject.
The class itself is really easy because she makes it so interesting. She is an easy grader as long as you show that you really care about these children and want to be a good teacher to them. She didn't give us our final because we had a couple of assignments due the same week and she wanted us to spend time on those instead of burdening us with another assignment. Every lesson had a discussion board then an assignment, along with a couple of extras (a midterm which was all short answer straight from the book and your Critical Performance).
She is eager to help in any way she can, and she grades assignments quickly, answers emails quickly, and really shows that she cares with every email she sends the class. You couldn't ask for anything more in a professor. I left this class knowing a lot more than I did before going into it and I actually enjoyed learning it! If you can take Dr. Whetstone, THEN TAKE HER! You will be so happy you did!
