Though this class was very hard, Dr. Plummer took the time to teach us how to learn and think critically. She has been teaching for a very long time, so she really knows what she's doing. Though it was the hardest class I took this semester, it helped me grow as a student. If you're willing to put in the effort, I recommend you take her class, but if you just want to skate by, it will only be difficult and frustrating.

This class was excessively difficult. The professor was hard to follow at times and vague about many key issues. Throughout the course you must write 5 essays which are graded thouroughly to say the least. I would not recommend taking this professor for a 100 level class, especially if you're not a history major.

Having Honors, I suppose, made this class very hard. Dr. Plummer is a very nice lady, but I can't say she's my favorite teacher. I got an A in the class, but the whole semester, I was expecting a B, so she was very tough. You have to read A LOT. She assigns so much reading, and it is indeed difficult. However, I learned a lot in this class, and if you're a history person or liberal artsy, I would recommend this class, but if you're not, I recommend you take a non-honors class with someone else.

This was probably the most difficult history class i have taken so far at WKU. But Dr. Plummer is a good professor but she expects A LOT out of the class. Your two papers are over primary and secondary sources (like 5-10 per paper) and you are expected to know what they mean and analyze them on very critical levels. I was lucky to get low C's on both of those. The two exams aren't quite as difficult but they require a lot of studying as there are somewhere in the range of 60-100 ID's you should know for the exam. You also have to read 3 novels for the class but the quizzes are only worth 1% of your grade. Overall this class isn't awful and its probably the best choice for your pre 1648 European course, though i would not recommend this to anyone who is taking it strictly as a gen ed as it requires way more work.

Do not take this teacher. She may seem nice but when you ask her a question she tries to be smart about it and makes you look like an idiot. She has 4 essay exams, 2 map quizes, and 3 1000 word papers that have to be very specific. The subject is an overall bore and she does nothing to make the class more interesting. Consider another teacher.

Dr. Plummer definitely knows an immense amount of information about history. Her lectures were interesting, but the class was overly difficult for a 100 level. There were 2 textbooks in which the class was usually supposed to read about 20 pages out of each book before each class. We read 3 other books (Song of Roland, Trial and Death of Socrates, and Utopia) and took quizzes on them, and there were 2 map quizzes. Out of 10 essay possibilities we were required to write 5 essays throughout the semester using primary source documents that were in one of the textbooks. If you do not like to study history (like me) take another professor, but if you do you might enjoy Dr. Plummer's class.

Dr. Plummer is a tough teacher, but she is an amazing history professor. You will have to study quite a bit, and she gives tons of extra readings in addition to the textbook. However, she knows what she is talking about, and if you are interested in history as I am, you will enjoy her lectures. The class seems really tough at first, but toward the end she starts doing things to help out your grade. You can write an extra paper if you made a bad grade on one of the previous two, and she'll drop your lowest test grade if you do better on the final (which is not cumulative).

Dr. Plummer is a so-so professor. Some love her and some dislike her. For this course there is a lot of online homework, and if you dont answer a certain number of questions per week it will affect your grade . . . almost too much. exams are simple and easy if you make any effort to study, but her lectures are boring.

This class would not be that bad if you didnt have a life and could spend 30 hours a week for her but with a job and other classes it's impossible. Tons of readings along with assignments every week over your research project. Along with a midterm paper only 1,000 words over a question noone could understand. Everyone in the class seems irritated and annoyed with the difficulty of the class. Coming from a student who hasnt made below a B in college!!!!!! so its not lack of effort or willingness to work and earn a grade.

Dr. Plummer knows her material although she has a very hard time reaching her students and has no problems shooting down her students comments at times. You have three tests (each are 20% of your grade) and two map quizzes (10% each). The class is very difficult filled with many notes. I would not take the class with her a second time if I had the opportunity; I would have taken 120 or 119 with a different professor.

I'm going to try not to cuss, but this chick is nuts. She honestly tried to cram all 5 weeks into 1 week during this course. I didn't learn a freaking thing. I basically lived in front of my computer for 5 weeks because she didn't think anyone had a life. She has these discussion boards with anywhere from 15-30 questions and she asks a million questions over the one million readings we were assigned. I knew there would be a lot of work because its history but most people take an online class for the convenience of mobility. I literally was rooted to this chair. If at all possible, take any body but her because she is completely unreasonable. To make matters worse she was in Germany the entire time so there was a time difference that meant if you had an important question you had to wait until it was convenient--her time. What a waste of time, regardless of my B.

Ms. Plummer is extremly nice and understanding. She does have high expectations but does recognize when students are trying. There is a huge amount of notes. I took it on the web so there were a great deal of discussion board questions which at times made me feel overwhelmed. It is a good course to take via the web if you aren't taking anything else. There is a lot of busy work. As said before, I think Ms. Plummer is an excellent teacher and excellent resource person. She really knows her history and she wants students to learn from their experiences.

She gives 3 workshops, 1 paper, and if you miss more than 4 classes you automatically fail. You also need to turn in everything in order to pass the class. She really knows what she's talking about and if you really like history then you'd like her. Participate in class and ask questions, she's really helpful. If you're late even by 2 min, she wont let you in!

Dr. Plummer is a very intelligent individual and she expects the best out of each of her students. If you want an easy A this isnt the class you should take. This class requires a lot of notes and the tests are quite hard. I personally found the Map quizzes very difficult due to the fact it is expected of you to memorize 40-60 areas/regions in ancient civilizations (difficult if you arent familiar or dont know a second language). If you really enjoy history, and you want to work hard take this class, if not i would find another teacher.

Heading into this class I had heard some bad things about this professor. That she was hard and disorganized to name a couple. However, Dr. Plummer is a nice prof and an expert in her field. She is very intellectual though and sometimes called students out who were working on other things in class, but overall she has a good sense of humor and eased the class into the course well. She is also very fair in her presentations of the material. I can see why people would say those things, but the Powerpoints help organize the class. There are a number of assignments. Two papers, two tests, group readings, a bibliography, a map quiz, reading quizzes. One thing to note; she is very fluid with her deadlines. She constantly pushes stuff back and one book we didnt even read. Tests and papers are worth the most, but these are not too bad and she does not grade very harshly, though the study guides are not great. Other assignments are worth much less so dont spend too much time on them. About 2/3 of her students got an A or a B in her last Reformation class; with a GPA average of 2.68.
The subject matter could be confusing but to me it was very interesting to trace the development of Protestantism and the churches of our Lord and the various personalities. I have a much deeper apprecation of the stand that Luther took for God. I recommend this class to anyone wanting study of this period or for history or RS credit. May be a bit hard for gen ed though.

Dr. Plummer is a treasure of the WKU history department. Her infinite knowledge of all of history is overwhelming at times, but one grows to appreciate receiving education from such a credible lady. She travels each summer to the places about which she teaches, and is currently even writing a book about marriage in those times. She is entirely interesting, highly academic, and exceptionally talented at teaching. Dr. Plummer also welcomes visits to her office which, in my view, only help your grade.
If you have a problem with focusing on school and are in college for OTHER reasons than learning, she may not be for you. But, if you are concerned about your future successes and desire to leave this university with a strong historical well-roundedness, Dr. Plummer is a fantastic way to start.

All you have to do is find some remotly plausible connection you can make between the readings and if she hadnt thought of it before she'll think its genius. and then you got an easy C, maybe even a B, on the essays.

Dr. Plummer is really nice, but I really think this should be an honors class. You will probably have around 20 pages of notes for each test, but each test only has seven questions, so you don't really know what to study. The essays she assigns are difficult, but you will do fine if you go and talk to her before they're due. There are a whole lot of places to memorize for the map quizzes, but its doable. The tests are difficult and there's a whole lot of information to be covered with each test. However, Dr. Plummer is always willing to help and I think she likes it when you talk to her individually for help.
