OMG~! This class was an absolute blast. The biggest grade the entire year was making a bad geology movie! The class was bi-term and I learned more from it than I did ANY class I have taken in College. She is a WONDERFUL teacher and very helpful. The movie was of course the best part; you get to make a lot of friends by doing it, and you learn quite a bit about geology, and people while doing it. If this class is available *******TAKE IT******

please do not take this woman, she is the worst example of a geology teacher she is very rude when you try and talk to her about grades she does offer extra credit but is really really picky on grading she is overkill for a 100 level class if you know whats good for you please do not take her class it will greatly affect you and your GPA. shes not easy take someone else

this class was hands down the most boring class i've ever taken. making myself actually go to class was almost as difficult as the course itself. she is in LOVE with geology, and thinks that you should be too. tests are haaaaard and she litterly keeps you in class until the minute that it gets out. She is not very good at explaining anything DO NOT TAKE HER!!

DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS WITH HER!!! Find another teacher...ANYONE. This woman is OBSESSED with rocks! She makes this class SO much more difficult than it should be. It is a 100 level class, and everyone is making C's and D's, even after wasting far too much time studying for a class that doesn't even matter. She is horrible, and I would never reccommend her to anyone.

She is obsessed with Geology and it gets annoying. She talks the ENTIRE class period and never lets you out a minute early. It's kind of difficult, and by the end of the semester, you will be so sick of hearing her voice yapping about geology. I would try to find another teacher if possible.

This was really a great course and Ms. Crowder is really a great instructor. This class helps to open your eyes to the debate over climate change and teaches you to think and decide for yourself about these issues based upon the evidence.

She is not very understanding and can be very moody. You don't get very many notes but the tests go over many topics. Her personality and moods are too much for most of the students who dislike her a lot. I don't recommend the class unless you need the class.

This class wasn't really as easy as I thought it would be, but it still wasn't terribly difficult. She is an ok teacher, but she isn't very open to questions. She gave us a humongous group project to do that included a group paper in a very specific format, individual papers 3 pages with 4 sources only 2 could be internet and pre-approved by her, and a 15 minute presentation per group with each group member having to have a visual aid. All that is really too much for a group project. And whenever we asked questions about it, she made us feel stupid and like we should already know what she wanted.

If you are a good student (meaning you attend class and take good notes) I highly recommend Ms. Crowder. She makes class very interesting. She offers review sessions before each test and gives extra credit if you attend. Her tests require that you know the material presented in lectures very thoroughly. This was my favorite class, even though it was a gen-ed.

Great instructor! If you are having trouble understanding the concepts and she knows that you are trying, then she will be more that happy to help. But if she sees that you are not fulfilling your responsibilities for this course, do not expect her to hold your hand and walk you through it.

Ms. Crowder is an ok teacher, but she can be rude to students sometimes. I didn't really care a whole lot about this class, but it wasn't very difficult. At the end of the semester students have to give presentations over various topics. I would not really recommend this teacher to anyone.

As long as you do your work and come to class, it is an easy A. She can be anal at times, but she gets annoyed at laziness, which is understandable. She's very nice and helpful, and her tests are super easy as long as you study the notes. She easily explained all the concepts to me, who hates science. I would never have considered geology but found it very interesting. I would recommend this class to anyone.

ms. crowder needs more experience teaching and needs to stop reading off of her cards and powerpoint presentations. the material is not terribly exciting anyway, and combined with her teaching style it yields a very disappointing experience for any student. i encourage you to do the best you can, and if you survive the boredom to get to the higher level geology classes the material and the instructors will get much much better.

This class can be pretty boring, but it's not very difficult. Ms. Crowder is nice but can be a smart aleck and likes to lecture about how people should study. The book is not extremely helpful, studying the notes is enough to do well on the tests. She has an attendance policy, but it's very lax. An okay class overall.

To put it nicely, this woman is a total BITCH!!!!! You can tell that she is single and lonely because she takes it out on everyone else. Her life revolves around her rocks and she thinks your should too. If you dont feel the same way about them as she does, you will not get a good grade. I have never in my life studied so hard for a class, and c'mon, lets get real, IT IS AN INTRO LEVEL!!!!!! She needs to get whatever is up her ass, out, and be a real teacher...........DONT TAKE HER!!

This women should not be here at all. She is a terrible teacher. She thinks that she is the queen of the geology dept and she should go back the unverisity of flordia. I have no idea why western hired her in the first place. Her test are not that hard but she grades them difficultly. Plus she thinks that geology should be you life and that you must become a rock or mineral in order to get a good grade. Her attitude toward teaching is let me say in a nice way very poor and I believe that she wanted to do something else but had to teach because that was her only option and now she likes to her frustrations out on the students. DONT TAKE THIS WOMAN

You take a bunch of notes in this class and it is really boring. But she gives you a study guide before each test that will help you if you look over it. This lady is sort of wierd and she likes to make corny jokes, but if you can get pass that then you are okay.

Ms. Crowder is tooo passionate about this class. There are too many bad jokes and the class is a bore you to death type of thing. The book is not required, that I know of, but I would highly recommed it if you are going to take this class. That is the only way you will fully understand this class. The amount of extra credit offerred is not very much. I would just highly not recommend this class to anyone, especially with this teacher. But the plus side to everything is that you can miss up to 15 classes before you get an F for the course.

I am an A,B student and took this course as a bi-term just because i needed some extra hours and it seemed interesting. BAD idea. This woman has an obvious complex that she didn't stick with pre-engineering and settled for something she could do in college and now she is stuck teaching. She tries to make the class super hard with tests that consist of many application problems that she doesn't prepare you for. Plus she is anal retentive to an extreme degree. Now i have to retake this stupid rock class that has nothing to do with my major. This lady's only friends are her freaking rocks! You can tell she isn't married. She even dressed up as a rock for Halloween. Have fun if you take it as a bi-term, she has no mercy. This was my first C ever in my life. Granted i should maybe have spent a few extra hours but why? its about rocks!

She is nice enough, but she flies through all of her notes. She does give a review sheet for tests, but the tests are crazy. She has a real attitude problem and will lecture the class when other people don't show up. She says she'll let you have 15 unexcused absences, but she will get mad if you don't come to her class or if you're late. I wouldn't reccomend this class unless you're really into rocks!

This course may not be offered very often, but if it is offered again, take it! If you have even a remote interest in geology and how movies such as Jurassic Park, Dante's Peak, and Earthquake portray natural hazards, then you will enjoy it. There is no book, so you must rely on your note taking to do well. There are 3 quizzes, a midterm and a final, and a video project where you make a bad geology movie. I had lots of fun, and if you cooperate with Ms. Crowder, you will do well!
