Going into this class, Trapasso scares you to death. There are only 4 grades in the class, his 3 exams and the lab grade counts as a test grade.
I was for sure I was going to get a C in this class. I made an 84 on the first Test and a 60 on the second.
I figured my lab grade to be about a 95 -- and I didn't think I did too hot on the final, but STILL ended up with an A in the class.
Test come straight from the notes - just study the notes. The book really isn't required unless you need some added help on the labs (which are open note/book/internet)

The first thing Trapasso does when he walks into the classroom is start talking about how he's retired so he could care less if you pass or fail he's just here to help the department. He not only doesn't care if you pass or fail, but makes it nearly impossible for you to even do fairly in the class. He has four exams, that's it. If you miss, too bad and if you need help, don't bother trying to ask him because all he does is dismiss you like you're a bother to him. He's THE WORST professor I've ever had and I would not recommend anyone to him. Also, the final exam he tells you it isn't cumulative when in fact, it is. Don't even bother showing up for class and trying to keep up and take notes because no matter what, you'll do poorly. He should not be teaching anything, EVER.

If you're looking for an easy Gen. Ed. science elective, don't take this course. If you're looking for a meteorology class, by all means, take this class. Trapasso knows his stuff like the back of his hand and will GLADLY answer any random curious questions about this or that. However, he won't tolerate the disrespect and apathy that's so prevalent in Gen. Ed. courses -- if you continually disrupt class by showing up late, he WILL ask you to drop the class. If you talk in class, he WILL single you out and make sure you never do it again. Trapasso is serious about teaching, so, if you take this course, you'd probably be wise to be serious about learning. I made an A, but it was hard, and not many people did. However, there's no homework and the 'lab' that accompanies the class is a piece of cake. Just, brace yourself for his tests, they're not to be blown off.

Dr. Trapasso tries to scare people out of taking the class by coming off as very rude and saying the class is difficult. If you can handle the first day then the class is EASY! Just study your notes, nothing comes out of the book, don't even buy it. But make sure to take really good notes. I recommend him for an easy A.

This course was NOT easy. I'm a straight-A student in general and I barely made an A in it with a lot of effort put into it. Nonetheless, it's a good class. If you're wanting some quick gen-ed credits, stay away, but if you're wanting to learn the subject, take it.

Dr. Trapasso, is still the hardest teacher I have ever had while at WKU. He is difficult to gte along with, and will let you know that the first day of class. I came into the class late so I only had a weeks information for the test...bomb! He didn't help ctah me up at all, and when studinf for the other tests i learned it was a basically study the whole book ( He wrote it) plus you notes and anything else involving geography!! This man knows people will fail his class, so he makes the test impossible. We had no other assignments so if you are bad at taking tets, don't take him.
Also when I did ask for help he told me to buy the book and come to class. Too bad I had the book in my hand and I missed one day! HE NEEDS TO RETIRE...FAST!

I don't see how ANYONE could make below a B- in this course. If you are a skipper, then I guess I could understand that.
The tests are STRAIGHT FROM THE NOTES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
So GO TO CLASS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
The final is just a "last test".
The labs are the ONLY reason you need to buy the book, however I kept mine just because I'm "kinda" in the major.
I can see where people "hate" him, though. You'll either love him or hate him. Personality clashes are highly probable with Trapasso. I personally enjoyed his class and LEARNED A LOT...got my money's worth. I find him extremely funny--partially because he's a smartass.
He's very willing to help, too! However, do NOT get on his bad side. TURN OFF YOUR FRIGGIN' CELL PHONE AND ACTUALLY SHOW UP. YOU WILL MAKE AN A!!!!!

Dr. Trapasso was one of the worst teachers I've ever had, I DO NOT reccommend taking his class unless you absolutely have to. He is rude and inconsiderate of others especially when they are sick. His tests are hard and he tries to cram way too much information in a short amount of time. He makes you feel stupid if you ask him a question that he thinks you should know and he sends nasty replies back in emails. Make sure you call him Dr. Trapasso and not Professor or Mr. because he'll bite your head off!

Mr. Trapasso likes to seem mean and harsh but he's a really nice guy. His class is pure lecture and test and nothing else. It's only hard if you don't pay attention. All the test questions come from the lecture and he writes everything you need for your notes on the board. He talks more about weather than geography, but that's only because he's a meteorologist. You only need the book to read certain boxes he assigns for the tests. His class can get a little boring sometimes though. He only gets mean in one case...NEVER LET YOUR CELLPHONE RING!! He will bring you to tears if it goes off in class!!!

Never have I studied so hard and gotten such rotten grades on exams. While Dr. Trapasso is a good teacher as far as teaching the material goes, his intimidation methods and scare tactics were far from appreciated, as far as I was concerned. His exams are a nightmare. I thought and even >know< that I was actually learning something in his class (because he is a good teacher), but I felt like the exams did not at all reflect it. His questions are very tricky. You think you actually KNOW the answer to a question, but you end up missing it because of some stupid way the question was asked. He is not open to listening to your logic as to why you answered a question the way you did. He is BIG on attendance. If you are teetering on the brink between two grades and you have perfect attendance, he will bump you up, which is probably how I ended up with an A. On the other hand, if you miss a lot of classes, he has no mercy and no kind words for you. In fact, he has quite the collection of sarcastic and cutting remarks. This was a nerve-wracking experience for me, and I do not intend to end up in any of his other classes...ever.

Trapasso is an excellent teacher...people who disagree are lazy and don't want to put any time or effort into the course. He knows his stuff. The tests come from his lectures. If you miss 6 or more classes, you get dropped a letter grade. You don't necessarily need the textbook-I used it for reference when I didn't fully understand something. Mr. Trapasso is a good teacher who knows his stuff. The only problem can be that it seems like a lot of stuff, but the labs, which seem hard but are graded easily, help bring up any problem grade. His tests are 50 problems multiple choice with scantron provided so that's nice. He can be funny at times, but when you are in his class it is strictly listen and learn. If you have ever had him for Intro. to Phys. Geography then this should be mostly review. In fact the lecture notes should coincide perfectly, but obviously only for the climatology, while dropping the other stuff behind. Also, may I mention the attendance policy. If you miss more than 11 classes you fail, but that's 11. He's good overall, take notes, read some for an A, and you should do okay.

I learned a lot from this class. Dr. Trapasso, who's also co-author of the textbook, is very intelligent and teaches his subject very effectively. He gives a lot of notes and a lot of diagrams and drawings, so be sure to copy down every one of them, as you'll need them for the exams. I studied a lot for this class, though not quite as much as I could have, but I was happy with a B. Don't be intimidated by him. He may sound and look kinda scary at times, but he's there to help you in any way he can, and he always encourages office hours and questions during class. And don't be dumb enough to fall asleep or leave early--he can get really mad about that. But other than that, the class is very interesting and informative. I recommend it.

Dr. Trapasso is one of my favorite teachers. He gives you a lot of notes, but they are all very helpful on the test. Everything on the test is covered in class and the only things that aren't covered in classes are in boxes in the text book (and he will tell you what boxes to review for the test). Everything you need to know for an exam, he will make sure you study. The test has no surprise questions of things you "should know". I recommend him; he's a great teacher.

I thought Dr. Trapasso's class was very interesting. I took it for a science gen. ed; this is a much better alternative to astronomy! The lectures are very detailed but interesting, and Trapasso follows the book for the most part. Buying the book is a good idea, it helps with the labs. Exams are straightforward multiple choice/matching/true-false, etc. from the notes and labs. The labs are easy, they are on a computer and take no more than thirty minutes.
Be prepared for Trapasso's sarcastic sense of humor. And make sure to go to class, because you'll miss a lot of material if you don't.

This guy is horrible. He gave me a C in this class because I had to miss a day to go to a job interview. I even explained to him that I would have to miss class for an interview, and he just said, "well, I guess we'll chalk that up as an absense!" I had this class the last semester of my senior year and this was the only C of my college career. I think Trapasso has forgotten why we pay money to go to college. For a prof. to punish a student for going to a career job interview is unthinkable! This is the main reason why we go to college in the first place. As far as the class went, it was not bad. I would have had a B if it weren't for missing that day of class. He spent way too much time on meteorology, but I did learn alot about weather.

Trapasso does not teach the correct information for this class. He is also the Meteorology professor and he failed to teach actual geography until the last two weeks of class. In addition, he does not provide accurate information for his tests. For example, he specifically told the class that certain information would NOT be on the test, and ended up being on the test. Therefore, if you are not accustomed to studying everything whether he says it'll be on the test or not, you will most likely get a really low grade.
Also, Trapasso is very anal about attendence and attention for his class. Several times he made a scene about waking people up, and even those who weren't asleep, but rather laying their head down. He does, however, have a very dry sense of humor, but that doesn't compare to his bitterness he holds the majority of the time.
His tests are not hard if you prepare for EVERYTHING he tells you, important or not, and you prepare several days in advance (which is a little much for a general ed class).
One other thing, the book is required, but when I had him, the book was completely unnecessary.
