Very monotone. Doesn't believe in power point so all notes are sloppily written on the board. Personally hated this class.

He takes attendance, there is no textbook required but he does give one as a recommendation. His notes are the worst as far as amount. This all you will ever do unless it is a test day, note taking. Ask questions, he is helpful and sometimes what he says will be on the test. Tests are fairly easy. Just study a bit. All multiple choice and he gives a study guide. Usually lets out of class a few minuets early.

I was completely dreading taking Western Civ. So much that I dropped it three semesters in a row. Finally, I decided to take it as a Winter Term class and I am so happy I did. It was a three week class that met for three hours everyday, which wasn't really that bad. We had a test once a week, usually on Thursday. The test consisted on 25 multiple choice questions and the essays were optional, for extra credit. There was no "FINAL", only a third test with 25 questions like the rest of them. Dr. Word was VERY repetitive, but it helped when it came to test time. He wrote everything he said on the board, so the notes were a bit much. I hardly studied for the tests and got an A in the class. He took attendance, but missed classes did not count against you. TAKE THIS CLASS!!

When he gives his Notes he does it in outline form writing it on the board so all you have to do is copy it. He tells you what's going to be on the test. He gives you the option of 3 or 4 essays and you can pick one to do for extra credit. The only time the essay is mandatory and that's on the final. There was 1 book review that was worth 200 pts but you got to choose the book of your choice. I would recommend him to anyone that struggles in History or if you are having to retake the class.

I really enjoyed his class, and I hate history, but he did not agree with one of my finial papers and basically just because of that gave me a C which dropped my average to a B. I had an A before that.

He is a good teacher, and tries to make history fun. Basically every day you takes notes off the board in a certain format, and the days before the test he gives a review, and if it isn't on there then it is not on the test. The only thing that is hard is the 6-7 page book review. Overall I recommend the class, but do study or galnce at the study guide. I also didn't buy the book and pulled an A.

Easy professor. Just have to study a little for the test. He gives you a study guide for each of the tests. If it is not on the study guide it is not on the test. Also there was one book review to do. Recommend.
