I wouldn't recommend her Dr. Fife to anyone. She tells you what you will be writing about, but is very vague on what she expects in the paper, until you actually get the graded paper back. I got very ill and was out of class for two weeks, when I returned she refused to help me get caught up. She also argued with me about my political views and docked half credit off one of my papers because of my opinion on a political matter. she grades hard and doesn't give a clear explanation on why you got a certain grade. For a 100 class she gets intense with her grading and views. Take a different teacher.

This was not exactly my ideal English class. Dr Fife is very nice, but very very vague. I was never sure exactly what we were working on or when it was due. You have to go to class and participate if you are even thinking about getting an A. She grades easily and there are lots of extra credit chances. So if you are stuck with Dr. Fife, then DONT buy the book, and make sure you are always in class. If your thinking about taking her, try to find someone else better first

I suck at English and Mrs. Fife was very helpful. You get multiple chances at revising your papers and she gives good insight on how to fix them. You have to write quite a few papers and a research paper at the end. Overall I enjoyed her class.

Jane Fife is an excentric lady with alot of opinions. I enjoyed having her. Most class time is spent discussing topics. You only have to write four papers and there are no test. You can also turn in papers as many times as you wish striving for a higher grade. She is very helpful when you ask for it. Key word ask. Do not expect her to bother you if you do not ask her questions. At the beginning she tells you the four papers you must write and you choose what you want to write about and in what order you wish to do them in. I would reccomend her to anyone.

Dr. Fife is an excellent instructor. I found this class to be very rewarding and enjoyable. This is the only class that i can say concentrated in my major. The purpose of this class was to write a research paper in my discipline and the class did just that. Dr Fife will listen and value your opinion in any subject, her instructions are clear and rather simple.

This class is a fairly easy class to take, as she lets you redo alll your papers once so you can get a much better grade. The whole class is just a bunch of papers. The classroom itself is insanely boring and she rambles on for an absurdly long time during class. If you can stand listening to her talk, this class is recommended. Not challenging, but still good.

Benefits of this class:
Pretty much a guaranteed A, as long as you force yourself to go. She lets you revise all your papers if you aren't satisfied with your grade. There really is no excuse not to end up with an A on every paper, unless you are just lazy and don't feel like revising anything.
Trouble with this class:
Fife is AMAZINGLY boring. I mean seriously. It is quite painful. She rambles on and on, repeats herself, and makes you want to claw your eyes out. It was so boring I found it very difficult to force myself to walk up the hill 3 times a week. And the class periods are pretty much useless. You don't really do much, but participation is worth 10% of your grade so you just have to suffer through it.

Jane Fife is an excellent professor!! I've had a couple different English professors and she was the best I've had. She tells you exactly what she wants, exactly how to get there and is always open to talk or help wherever she can. She scheduled everything; everything had a deadline and, even thought it was a summer class, we didn't get off even a day from the syllabus schedule. I've never felt more like a professor cared about what she did and how well I did in a class. If at all possible, this is the Junior English class to take!!

This class is alot of work but Dr. Fife has things due along the way so you dont get backed up in your work. Your grade in the class is basically three papers- the last of which is worth 45% of your grade. Sometimes its hard to manage all the diffrent things she expects but its worth taking the class. She is very good about talking with you one on one and making the class interesting and applicable to your major. You can onlymiss two classes so you have to show up even though she can sometimes talk for a long time and it gets boring. We usually did group work at the end of class so it helped keep the class interesting. Overall she's nice and makes her expectations clear.

Dr. Fife is perfect for anyone who wants a class that doesn't involve much thinking.
BUT:
Be warned, she is grossly incompetent. She never has material ready for class, cannot answer a direct question in less than 5 minutes (she hems, and haws you to death, and when she's done, she still hasn't answered the question at hand)
She also will hold class the entire time, even when she doesn't have anything left to do. Once, she held the class 40 minutes after she finished lecturing, we didn't do anything but sit in silence the entire time.
Also: The work for the class is the worst sort of busy work imaginable.
SO: this class is good if you want an easy A, and don't mind sitting through something akin to Office Space, take this class.

This was her first year at WKU so i don't know what changes she will be making. Just go to class turn all of your papers in and you can make a B. When it comes time for a group project you need to make sure that you have a good group becuse my group sucked and we got a 75 which made my grade a B from an A.

Dr.Fife is a very nice person. Her class is not that easy and she is not a easy grader, but it's not terribly hard. The only bad thing is she talks a whole lot, and sometimes it's kind of boring. If you try hard on your papers and let someone edit them you should be fine. You have a couple small papers that leads up to your big research paper. If you procrastinate then don't take this class. For the final you just have to turn in your research paper. You also have to do a group presentation which no one approved of, because they felt we had already done to much in that class, but of course we had to do it anyway. She gives opportunity for extra credit to add points to your group work, but I don't think it makes a big difference.
