The teacher would give the homework assignments and grade you on them. After you received your grade, he would then teach the lesson and how you would work the problems. The tests were usually very difficult and would be like things you hadn't seen before.

I did not know how to study until I got into Dr. Humphrey's physics class. The homework assignments take at least 2 hours a night to finish and sometimes you still can get the answers. I would go to his office every morning before class for an hour to get extra help on the homework. Several times he would tell me to read the book and figure it out. He doesn't just give you the answer. You have to work hard in his class. His tests are not easy either. If you take this class have at least a couple good study partners that you can rely on. This is definately the hardest class I've had in college so far, but I've learned alot by teaching myself.

Humphrey was the absolute worst teacher that I have ever had. He puts no effort into teaching. And don't bother asking him any questions because he really doesn't feel like answering them. I tried going to his office a couple of times for help and he told me to read the book until I understood the matterial. And he treated me like I was an idiot. He gives one example in class a day, just about, for the home work and it's usually the easiest example you can think of, so it really doesn't help you understand anything. If you ask him to give you harder examples he'll tell you no because he doesn't want to just show you how to do a problem, he wants you to figure it out from the really crappy text book that you have to buy. If you have to take him make sure you have at least 3 friends in the class so you can do the webassigns together. And almost forget about going to class or learning anything from it.

Humphrey would be an excellent person to drink a beer with and hear his stories; however, he is a physics teacher. I believe he has been teaching physics so long that he doesn't understand why anyone would have any difficulty with the material. If you choose to take the class, be prepared to teach it to yourself. Also do not expect to be given the slightest help if you are on the A/B boarderline. In my entire class only one A was given. He has been know to help out students on the lower end of the grade scale. I spent several hours a week (between 5 and 10) to only get a B in the class due to the speed of the class and LACK OF TEACHING.
Despite all of this, this class showed me what studing really is.

Doug Humphrey is a piece of shit that I wouldn't piss on if he was on fire! I spent two to three hours a night on his class and still failed. I worked harder that I ever had in his class and was only made to feel stupid when trying to get help. NEVER TAKE THIS SORRY S.O.B.!!!!!!!!!!!

Humphrey doesn't do just a whole lot in class...he stands at his overhead and does the easiest examples that he can think of. Then when it comes to homework, he throws it to you. You have to spend about two hours a night on homework. His tests are really difficult and he doesn't seem like he wants to help very much. DON'T TAKE HIM!!!

Dr. Humphrey is the absolute worst professor I have ever had!!! He doesn't even come close to working examples in class, yet he gives homework over problems you haven't the faintest idea how to solve. His tests arent to hard, but he does like to try to trick you up. He will help you on homework, but he tends to put you down and make you feel stupid if you don't understand what he is saying. Honestly, I think satan would be a better choice of teacher!!!!!!!!!!

Dr. Humphrey is the only professor that I have ever heard of that is available at all times during the day. He is extremely helpful, and has many humorous stories. Everyone should take at least one of his classes before graduating.

Despite Dr. Humphrey's distinctive resemblance to a teddy bear, he is a very good teacher. Firstly, he explains these topics well, and secondly, the course material is the easiest in all of university physics. This class is easy and interesting, and a nice relief after 260.

Dr. Humphrey challenged me, however, he provided me with every opportunity to learn. He is the reason that I've succeeded as an undergraduate. Not only is he one of the best instructors that I've had, he is also just a good person. He has enabled me to succeed in the very competitive field of engineering--Thank you, Dr. Humphrey.
