This class is as hard as you make it. Yes she is very boring, but she does seem to know and love what she is talking about. As long as you study everything on her study guides, you will do fine on the tests. I did not get a very good grade, but that was my own fault, I only studied part of the study guide. She will give you 10 -15 topics, do not do like I did and only study like 5.

This course is tough, but in a good challenging and thought provoking way. Because of it having a typically small class size you become very close with the group and have a great time discussing the chapters and topics. It is a four hundred level class, so expect to do four hundred level work. There are a number of essays throughout the semester and a chunky research paper due at the end. However, Dr. B is super helpful and will work one on one with you on any assignment. She wants her students to succeed.

Dr. Browder is one of my favorite professors by far. Although some on this site have accused her of speaking in a monotonous voice, I found it hard to pay any mind to it since she is obviously an enthusiastic, competent instructor. Her daily tongue-in-cheek remarks and quirky sense of humor made mondays entertaining. Before this class, I have never shown much interest in taking history in school, but she made it interesting for me. We even watched Young Frankenstein in class for Halloween! I particularly liked her tests, since they're essay based. She assigned three papers, but none were terribly long, and she provides the information she wishes you to draw from. Great class, and splendid teacher!

Dr. Browder does not know how to manage a class. We had two papers due in the last two weeks of class, just made things too stressful. You have 3 Papers which she wants you to write about what she believes, not what your opinion is, I got a B on all 3 papers and thats why I got a B in the class. The 2 exams are cake, but you can get A's on them like i did and somehow still end up with a B. You also have to go see 6 movies on your own time which are time consuming and monotonous. Dr. Browder is a pretty bad professor, she is only interested in her areas of study (Woman's history and the labor movements). So if you dont agree with her views or what she wants to hear, then you can say goodbye to getting an A. I would not recommended her to anyone.

I took this class online. It was terrible. She was so unpredictable as far as to what she expected from you. Had to write 2 papers, and she is very strict on them. I never understood her grading. She gave me a terrible feedback on one, but yet my grade was a 94? Lots of reading and discussion post! Midterm and Final that had to be proctored!

I know some of the other reviews on this website view Dr. Browder as a bad teacher, but she really is a good teacher. You can tell she really enjoys history and definitely knows what she is talking about. The class consisted of a few 3-4 page papers, along with 3 tests. If you want to succeed in this class, you will. The class what you make of it. She offers help with papers and exams, which she provides guidelines and study guides for. Her classes are based primarily around lecture, and can sometimes be boring. If you want a good grade in this class, just put some effort into your work and you will do just fine.

Dr. Browder is a very nice professor. She is a little boring at times, but this is the EASIEST history class you will find. She tells you exactly what is on the test so you just need to study. If you need any help just ask, she is very helpful!

Browder is a TERRIBLE teacher. She's one of those teachers that is nice and sweet, but boring beyond all belief. She's also a stick in the mud when it comes to her papers and won't allow any deviation from the asked for "fact list" paper.

Her grading system is also seriously wacked. Usually when a teacher grades a paper they leave little notices when you lose points which include the reason for points deducted. With Browder, I found my paper was left completely blank with a C grade, usually, at the end. The reason was probably her dislike of me. Avoid this teacher if you know what's good for you.

easy class but the teacher is boring as hell. exams are essay so you need to know your shit. i usually fell asleep during lectures. she is a nice lady but its hard for me to focus when its just lecture

So she is known as the um lady and is super boring when she lectures but really theres now reason to not get a good grade in this class. She gives you study guides that is everything that could possibly be on the test so there are no surprises. Do the study guide and you should be able to pull out a good grade on the tests. She does give two papers which are kind of difficult but only because of the way she words them. Overall it was easy for me.

DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS WITH HER!!!!! She lectures everyday, wears black everyday speaks monotone, her questions are very complicated. She assigns a 5 page paper over a comic book at the end of the semester. Her tests are not hard but they are somewhat difficult. It's your best interest not to take her

She is a very monotone and boring teacher, BUT for the tests, she gives you a study guide that is the exact test. And if you want to write out the essays before the test, she will look over them for you. She will help you out with anything, but it is very hard to stay awake in that class.

Dr. Browder is one of the first teachers I marked as "O.K." I usually either like them or I don't. The thing with her is that you have to take a lot of notes because every class consists of plain old lecture, until test day. I was able to remain on the edge of an A by taking notes on every waking breath she made, but I still got a B. If you're good at history, take her. If not, then plan on taking a lot of notes and studying a little bit harder to get an A. You have to read a book, too, but I liked it. It's just a short book written in the form of a comic about the Holocaust, called Maus. Oh yeah, she has a monotone voice when she lectures and literally says "um" about three to four times a sentence.
