I found this professor extremely difficult to understand. Personally, I love studying other cultures, but she made it boring. She never gets grades to you in a timely manner. Her tests are really hard! She wastes your time with videos and pictures from her African safari that will not help you whatsoever on the tests. The ONLY reason that I got an A was because I taught myself and I did really well on the map quizzes.

The GIS teachers here at WKU are far from being good instructors. If you don't have to take GIS, then don't!!! The teachers here are either rude, lazy, or put too much emphasis on pointless things. I need someone to actually teach me how to use the program, and NOT ramble from the textbook the entire class! If you have to take GIS, then I would take it at another institution! PERIOD!

Easily the worst professor I have had in 4 years on the hill. She gives poor instructions, which for an entry level class can easily overwhelm you. Her grading scale is very skewed. You will have at least two large homework assignments a week, each easily taking close to 3 hours to complete. Do not take this professor, she is terrible.

She is nice but gosh she is boring. She lectures over the entire semester about what makes a good map...yawn. The exams are easy and come from the lectures she does. What sucks is that she doesnt know a whole lot about what shes doing...was always screwing up things in the software and was often lost. The projects take time and are frustrating so make sure you have the time to commit to the class. The final is making a map and isnt too bad. She is just mediocre at its best.

This was one of the worst professors I have had. Her grading methods for discussions were completely random. She has a real issue with letting her own opinion influence grading; for example, on discussions that asked a students view on an issue, if you don't write what she wants to hear then you receive a C or lower. The same went for our papers - she deducted points because she disagreed with my opinion. In class her lectures are dull and she speaks in a monotone voice. Reading the chapters is absolutely critical as she doesn't give you the necessary information for tests in the lecture. Do not take her!

I am currently taking this class right now. I just wanted to warn any freshmen who are about to sign up for classes what to expect. I took this course as a gen ed class and It has turned out to be one of my more challenging classes. I have an A right now, but I have had to work a lot for it. Test are over 3 long and boring chapters each and the test content comes from the book not the notes. Class is pointless because you dont learn anything but attendance is mandatory so you have to suffer through it. try to avoid this professor.

This is probably one of the easiest classes I have ever had while attending WKU. She is a great professor. As long as you study the night before the test you will be fine. There are two papers that are mandatory but they are extremely easy. 5 paragraphs and your done. I would recommend this teacher to anyone. She allows you to miss 8 classes throughout the semester. I would not recommend Kreitzer if you could avoid it. She is very monotone and quite boring. She doesn't grade accurately or fairly and is very strict on using an unpopular citation style. The material in the class excited me, but she made me hate the class. She takes attendance and will call people out in class to answer questions, so you should come to every class. She DOESN'T TEACH, to sum it up the best. Her tests are extremely long and typically don't cover at least 2/3 of the material on the test. You are practically required to teach yourself in her course. Save yourself a bad grade and frustration and take someone else.

For a general education class, this one takes work. The tests are based solely on the book, while attendance is mandatory. This makes for torturous class meetings. Each test is preceded by a lengthy (~5 pages) study guide which, if completed, should guarantee an A on the exam. Dr. Kreitzer is also technically challenged, so expect significant portions of the class to be wasted trying to get the powerpoint presentation going or trying to get a video to play. I would avoid this professor.

Ms. Kreitzer was a nice lady, but not a wonderful teacher. Compared to Jim Bingham though, Kreitzer is great. Her tests are easy, but her lectures are a bit tiring. I found myself looking at the time often especially since it was the late afternoon class. She interjects her opinions pretty often, but she seems very wishy washy and does not seem very intelligent.
In terms of requirements: 4 tests (multiple choice & short essay), several map quizzes, several projects (many of them pointless and time consuming), and a paper on a class field trip to Mammoth Cave.
Bottom line: If you have to take Geography, better to take Kreitzer b/c she's nice and her class is easy.

Ms. Kreitzer is an easy professor. She's really nice and the class is easy if you attend on a pretty regular basis. She puts all her PowerPoints online, so you can print them off and study. The textbook isn't really required, but it may come in handy if you don't attend class. You have 3 map quizzes which are easy if you study. The final is just a chapter test. You need to buy and read the book or you will do really really bad on test!!! Map quizes aren't bad at all just study, but don't over study because she only asks you where 10 places are on the map your studying. She is a very nice person, a little unorganized and I feel like we waste a whole bunch of time doing nothing but playing with those studpid clickers and trying to get them to work.

Things that are specifically said during class are on the test too. She has map quizzes periodically, a total of 10 during a semester. She's not the most exciting professor at WKU. That being said, she's far from the worst.
There are 10 map quizzes worth 10 pts each, and you can drop your two lowest map quiz scores. Attendance is mandatory (it's worth as much as 45 points), so show up. The lectures are from PPT slides -- they are a rough outline of the material in the book.
Regarding what some have said about the tests, notes, and the book... Don't read the whole chapter. Read about the things she addressed in the lectures and which are contained in the PPT slides. A general rule of thumb is that if she didn't mention it in class, it won't be on the test.
Personally, I never opened the book until the night before the test. I'd look at my notes, then look in the book to supplement the material addressed by the notes. Don't worry about trying to learn everything in the book, since she only tests over those things she mentions in class.

This course is more difficult that you would expect a 100 level course to be. In class she reads powerpoints that are available online, so there really is no point to going except that she takes role EVERYDAY (this counts for about 10% of the final grade - don't miss). What makes it difficult is the reading. Each chapter is about 60-70 pages and took me (a good reader) about 4 hours to get through. The book is where the majority of the test information comes from . An A is possible, a B more likely, and a C if you think this class will be a breeze......ITS NOT.

This class seems easy, but the tests are a bitch. Most questions on the exam come straight from the book and unless you've read the chapter twice, very carefully, then it's pretty tricky. If you take her, go to every single class, study the chapter vocabulary, and read each chapter very closely right before the test (and if you can get exams from previous semsters, that helps A LOT too). and good luck!

Mrs. Kreitzer is a great teacher but she expects a lot from her students. So much in fact that she almost never covers any material from the book. The tests are straight from the book and her power points which are online. All we did in class is watch different movies concerning each region we were studing. She would give us a study guide and the test was exactly like the study guide with added short answer questions concerning the movies.
This class is not really hard it is just a lot of work because you have a paper due almost every other week concerning problems concerning the region being studied. She grades these fairly hard, but you can gain your points back on the map tests.
There were three tests. There was not a final it was just one of the three tests covering about four chapters in the book. She stresses globalization a lot throughout the semester, so pay attention to those facts. Also, we had to do a fifteen to twenty minute presentation with research paper about a particular group of people facing issues with globalization. This was a major part of the grade in the class.

The people that gave Mrs. Kreitzer a bad review must be fresh out of high school, super lazy, super stupid, whatever. Have they been taking only the EASIEST possible courses thus far? This class was so easy. It's your basic, easy general education class. You have some map quizzes, which you are given a list of the places to know. Spend a couple of hours on study guides before an exam (almost every answer for the study guides are IN THE BOOK) and you will get an A, guaranteed. The study guides are almost like duplicate questions of the exam(maybe reworded). She gets frustrated when so many students do so badly and she makes the class sooooo easy. It's like they just don't give a care. I think it's mind boggling to see how many people just don't do a little bit of work to get an easy A.

I guess I could have did alot better if I had the time... I had to put more time into this class then 2 - 400 level classes I also had... She is the most unorganized teacher ever..., she is usually 5 minutes late for class, and it takes her another 2-3 minutes to get to the right spot in her powerpoint slides... Her notes and lectures are useless...
They probably make up about 50% of the test... 30 - 35% of the test are location (countries, cities, etc). and the rest is a bunch of random junk that she may not even bother to talk about in class... Watch out for things on the tests that you've never heard of... She will say "Everyone should have already known this... I didn't really go over it in class, but..." I'm like... what in the world is this?!?!?... I hadn't taken a history class in 2.5 years, and she assumes that you already know (and can recall) alot of history... Anyway, if you do the 5-6 page study guides (per test) you'll probably do ok on the test.
I only needed 2 more gen ed classes, and wow... was this ever a bad choice! Made me feel like I was in highschool again!

She's okay. But if you want a one-on-one student/teacher interaction, she's not the lady to take. She doesn't even bother to get to know your name, so if that's what you are looking for, you'd better find cheers! haha!!

With the exception of 10 map quizzes thoughout the semester, you don't have hmwk. There are three tests including the final which are 100 questions(35 are map and the rest are match/mult.ch.). It sound bad, but it's not. You can miss up to 5 days too.

The map tests are easy if you know your geography, but her tests are difficult if you do not take notes and read the chapters.
