Great teacher!! This class is very changeling but so are all of his other classes. If you know how to study, this will be a easy class

While I have learned a lot in Mr. DuCoff's class, his tests were EXTREMELY hard! I am typically an A student but I had difficulty getting a B in his class! Its pretty much overkill. He expects you to remember everything he covers, which is simply unrealistic. I learned a lot, but at the expense of my grade, which SUCKS! I didn't have to have this for my major, only for my gen. ed requriement, so I would advise everyone in my situation to take someone easier!

Tests are multiple choice, but the hardest multiple choice I have ever taken. The class is a very interesting class and DuCoff is funny but the tests are difficult. You must keep up with the chapter readings and you must study. If you prepare you will do fine.

Mr. DuCoff is a fantastic professor who really knows his stuff. However, he is also a very tough professor. You only have 3 exams in this course and that is your grade. There is no room for failure and you must study everything for the exams because he gives no clues as to what he has on the test. I struggled to get my C from the very start. As a professor he is amazing. I just wish we could have had more grades throughout the semester. Lots of pressure on just 3 exams. He would offer one extra credit assignment though. If he offers, DO IT.

This class is not easy and is alot of hard work. It would have been better if the teacher was smart enough to know what he was talking about. He thinks he is a god at the Glasgow campus. He stated that if any student needed help, that all they had to do is ask... He is not willing to help students on their research paper. He plays favorites with students. The research paper is graded based on the other papers in the class. Meaning everyone is fighting for the top grade. Research class is meant to be hard but Ducoff is a bad teacher. His test do not reflect class notes. As a class we did not do very poor on many of the tests and instead of helping us, he blamed us only. I understand that students don't always study, but it is hard to believe that a whole class did not prepare for a test!!! Bad teacher

"there is not a playground in the back yard"....my favorite line from Dr. DuCoff. In other words, life is not easy and he is not going to make it easy just so you can get an A. You work for your grade. The grade that you get is what YOU earn...nothing else. Extra credit is sometimes available...but not always.
Dr. DuCoff truly loves Sociology and loves to teach. He is always available to help you (unless he's golfing..lol) and he cares about each student.
I declared a major in sociology because he inspires you to question everything and for that he will always be my favorite teacher.

Dr. DuCoff is hands down the best instructor ever. This man cares if you learn in his class. I've had him so far for intro to sociology, sex and society, and penology next semester. Yes, you have to take notes, and yes, you have to attend class. In other words, it seems the people who didn't like the classes \griped mainly about the work involved. It's COLLEGE, people. If it wasn't for Dr. DuCoff and his gift to be able to teach the way he does, I wouldn't have declared Sociology as my major because I still wouldn't have encountered a subject or teacher that was this interesting.

Mr. DuCoff is a nice person, but a terrible teacher. This has been the hardest class I have ever taken in my college career. I have never failed a class in my life, but I am about to fail this one. My grades have always been "A's" and "B's". Mr. DuCoff's tests have a few multiple choice items, but they are very difficult. He always has two essays on the test, and they are worth 40 points. There are no study guides on the test, and the stuff he talks about in class is not always on the test. He expects you to read a chapter each week, and then he will talk about it some in class. We only have three tests in this class, and that is what your grade is based on. The last test I took was over 5 chapters, which was over 200 pages in the textbook. The stuff in the book is hard to follow because it is so dull to me. You never know what will be on the test, and you never know what the essays could be about. I feel like in his class you are on your own, and that you have no idea how much time to spend on studying the different chapters. He does offer extra credit which is attending four cultural events and writing a two page paper about them. Each paper you write about an event is worth 5 ponts a piece, however, that is if he likes your paper. DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS! IT IS TERRIBLE AND HARD! I wish I had dropped it, but I thought I could bring my grade up since I am a pretty good student. Now my GPA is going down the drain because of this class. BEWARE of this class and DON'T TAKE IT, DON'T LET ANYONE FOOL YOU INTO THINKING IT WON'T BE BAD, BECAUSE IT WILL!

Dr. Ducoff is a GREAT teacher! He really knows this stuff backward and forward, and it shows. He is very interesting and encourages class participation which keeps the class from ever being boring. This is not an easy A, but a very good class, with a very good teacher. So good that I actually took this as an elective just because I needed hours!! (I'm a dental hygiene major).

Mr. Ducoff is a great teacher. He explains things very well so that if you pay attention and take notes in class and read the chapters before the tests you should make a good grade in his class. He drops your lowest test grade of the semester so if you have the grade you want by the end of the semester, you can skip the final!

You need your book because it is hard to take notes in his class you mostly have to listen. Read the chapters and his tests can be confusing the multiple choice mainly if you have trouble focusing.

Doctor Ducoff is a wonderful teacher. He is really interested in the subject which inturn makes it easier on the student. The class isn't boring and those who read their notes after class and read the assigned chapters will have no problem. However, it is real easy to get behind if you fail to read the chapters before class discussion. The class isn't easy and requires dedication and hard work. Doctor Ducoff is very fair and is extremely helpful whenever someone needs his help.
The tests aren't easy and each writing assignment in each exam increases in level of difficulty over time. He just expects more as the semester progresses. I learned a lot and would recommend anyone to take his class!!!

Love him. He's the only decent instructor at the shithole known as the Glasgow campus. He's non-biased in his lectures, engages students as his primary method of teaching (requires participation and input from students), and he knows the material very well. He's always willing to help students and answer any questions they have. I've had him twice (soc 100 and 362), and I would take him again if I could. He really belongs on the main campus because he's not a redneck reject instructor like most of the others in Glasgow. He's a very effective professor. I highly recommend him to students who take their education seriously.

Mr Ducoff is a terrible teacher. He tries to purposely trick you on his tests, and he thinks it is hilarious when you leave his class not knowing how you did. Also, be very careful, if you forget to do anything in his class he WILL assign you make up papers/ assignments to finish over the summer. Take Someone else!!!

This class was a very difficult class to take. If you do not like to take essay exams do not take this class. Essays are the only types of questions on the exams. If you do not know the material inside out and backwards then you will not do good at all on the exams. I recommend that anyone who does not like to write essay and short answer questions not to take Dr. Ducoff. He is a great person but he is a very difficult teacher. He even loves to teach the class and gives it everything he has.
