Claus is a good professor who will work with you to help you get the grade you need. He has pushed back deadlines for our homework multiple time to help us out when he sees that we as a class are struggling, and takes the time to explain things to you when necessary. He's very helpful during office hours, doesn't make you feel as if you are stupid when you don't understand anything, and is very approachable.

I have always struggled with math. Dr. Ernst really helped me throughout the course. I met with him several times. You can take the tests as many times as you want, but only one a week. If you attend all of his classes, really put forth an effort, and are close to the next letter grade he will raise it.

Calus Ernst is an interesting teacher... He does have an accent but is easy to understand (he does say some words funny like "mass" when he means math, and "wertex" for vertex, but you still know what he is meaning to say). The class is somewhat fast paced, but he is a good teacher and as long as you do your hw on my math lab you will do fine. You get to take the test and hw as many times as you like so you can "earn" the grade that you want. I recommend this class!

Fast paced course, he's somewhat helpful when asked questions. All homework, tests, and quizzes are online, which I found somewhat annoying. It's an okay class.

Although this class requires quite a bit of notes, it is rather easy. Ernst is a good teacher, although he has a strong accent. He gives plenty of preparation for the final. If you plan on going to class most of time at a minimum, you can get an A or B.

Claus loves his students and is willing to help you whenever you need it. He always goes the extra mile to help you understand the concepts. Even though this class isn't extremly difficult he makes you feel really comfortable. He also has a thick german accent that I personally loved.

Let's just say that the class started out with about 30 people!! Within just a few short weeks, it was down to about 10-15 people. This class was very difficult!! People were lucky to pass the class!!

Claus is a goofy-looking fellow but knows a lot and communicates well. His class isn't TOO tricky because he explains pretty clearly how to do everything he expects you to do on the tests and quizzes. 12 quizzes, lowest 2 dropped, 3 tests, and regular online homework. The homework was my least favorite part of the class, it took too long but did help you understand the processes. Claus himself is like a big german teddy bear with an Art Garfunkle haircut that likes to wear sweatervests, socks with sandals, and pronounce "vertex" with a w. I had him in the morning and missed several classes, but show up and pay attention every day (he is easy to listen to) and you should be fine.

Mr. Ernst was extremely impatient and rude. He expected you to know much of what he had yet to teach. Also, his accent is very hard to understand. Mathematica is not a good teaching tool. Mr. Ernst also has poor hygiene that is extremely distracting...

the college algebra class overall is hard. Mr. Ernst gives out study guides before each test that are similar to the tests. study these closely. There is a lot of work required for this class, but he only grades the sections done on mathxl. If you do the homework and attend class you should do well.

Professor Ernst is a really good professor and cares about the class doing well in his courses. He will work with students on an individual level and as a class as a whole. He provides excellent reviews for his test. If the class doesn't score well, he will do what he can to help out. I may get a C in this class but the course hasnt ended yet, I am a border line B currently with 2 weeks until final. No matter what, I can't complain. I have missed probably 10 days and only opened the text a handful of times....and I truly mean like maybe 5. If you attend class, do the HW, an A should be easy to get.

Ernst is an awful teacher, I've always been really good in math always mad A's and B's he doesn't care about his students. He is German difficult to understand. When you go for help he seems to not care. I always did assingments that he assigned and studied for quizzes and test all the time he is awful.

I took Mr Ernst for my Math116 class and enjoyed the class. It does take a little time to get used to his German accent, but other than that his teaching is pretty clear. There are Quizes (a couple were take home) and Exams that make up the grade. If you strugle at Math you may want to buy the book so you can do the homework. I never had time to do the HW, so it could of done with out paying $70 for the book. Mr Ernst will print out a Practice Exam before every test and provides a answer sheet on his door. I would just make a copy of answer sheet and learn how to do the problems on there. Also its a good idea to attend every class session or you'll get behind. He is a very guy and if you put forth an effort an interest in the class he'll do the same for you.

This course wasn't too difficult, if you did your homework. You have quizzes atleast once a week and about 3 tests and a cumulative final. Be sure to go to class, and ask questions. He is willing to give you extra help if you need it. If you have good attendance and do your best effort on the homework, you'll do fine!

I believe that you have to want to learn the material in this class. The class moves very quickly and you can easily get lost. Mr. Ernst is willing to help you and he is not that bad of a person, but you have to do your part. Honestly, the class is not that bad, but you do need to do the homework that he assigns (even though he doesn't take it up) because it will definitely help you to prepare for the quiz every other class and the three tests that you will take. The final is cumulative, but if you study the review sheet that he gives you, it won't be that bad at all. He doesn’t take attendance, but if you are not in class you will be lost. The main part is that you MUST do your homework and be organized to do well in the class.

This class is Ernst and Brunson (be sure to check him out on here) together. While Barry Brunson is a poor excuse for an instructor, Mr Ernst does try to teach the class. I think that he is so smart that he has a hard time relating and breaking down the information for the students. The demands for this class are unreal. I suggest not taking it. If you want 118 find a regular lecture class, not the Mathematica class. They depend soley on Mathematica to teach the class, and it does not work. I think that Mr Ernst in a regular lecture setting would probably be ok.

I don't think he usually teaches statistics. I believe he generally teaches math 116 or higher. He taught it this semester because there were so many people wanting in the class. Overall he is a pretty good teacher. He gave a fairly easy quiz every Friday, and he droped the lowest score. He gave us a review sheet before every test, and the actual test was almost exactly like the review sheet or quizzes just with the numbers changed. We had 4 tests, and on the last 3 he let us bring in a sheet of paper with all the equations on it so we didn't even have to memorize them! We did have to do a project that wasn't very fun, and he graded it harder than he acted like he was going to. At least we got to have partners. I would recommend him.

He has a tendency to be hard to understand. He thinks on another level and sometimes has trouble conveying what he means. His test are tough but he gives study guides. He is also very willing to help if you come see him. But I only rec him if you are already good at math.

The whole time I was enrolled in this class I was sure I would fail, I failed all the tests, and there are a ton of quizzes that I did badly on, its a miracle I pulled a C. He is a really nice teacher, but you feel sort of intimidated by him, because if you ask a question he has the tendency to pick on you through the rest of the class-thats why I never raised my hand! He is German to so you can't really understand what hes saying much of the time. Overall I would not suggest you take this class unless you are really smart or are majoring in German. AND NO MATTER WHAT ANYONE TELLS YOU, YOU CAN GLUE A MATH BOOK BACK TOGETHER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

This man is German and is hard to understand and annoying to listen to. He hasn't ever picked up homework but assigns a lot. He doesn't teach well either, he expects you to know most of it already. His first test was easy, but his others were very hard. He gives a 10 pt. quiz about every Tues. of class and only puts like 4 questions on it, so if you miss one you're screwed. AWFUL!
