Western Kentucky University / D / Chunmei Du

This was an honors course, so of course it's not a piece of cake. The class is fairly fast paced and you have two textbooks you need to read, and a new chapter almost every time the class meets (mine was a MWF class, so a new chapter every 2 days). You also have research papers to do, however they are only 2-4 pages long and you can probably get them done within an hour or two. Big research paper at the end, but since its really your pick on topic so long as its relevant, I don't think it'll be too bad.

Tests are, as all history department classes, all essays and IDs in a blue book.

Du is a really great professor. You can tell that this is her area of expertise and she is really knowledgeable and enthusiastic about the topic. She arranged (on department's budget) for the class to go out to eat at a Chinese restaurant and also a few other trips during class. It's definitely an interesting and fun class and I recommend it to everyone!

Dr.Du never gives any actual answers; she just asks a bunch of questions and answers those questions with more questions. I would advise you not to take this course with her. She gives few grades, and she is very vague about what will be on the tests that she does give. Her notes are moderate, but they are also not helpful at all. I have taught myself western civilization; don't teach yourself pick a different teacher.

Dr. DU has an accent but once you get passed that she's a pretty good teacher. This class is supposed to be super hard but as long as you study and take notes you should be fine. I am somewhat of a slacker and I still ended up with a B...that's saying a lot

Uses way too many adjectives when "doctor du" talks, you can barely understand her. She just expects you to get your essays from the book, when there is barely any information. Grading is impossible, I studied all week for an exam. Morning until night, and still made a 71. Do not take this class with her.
