I took Charles Williamson through a summer online course in 2009. It must be stated that Charles Williamson had never taught an online class before and was learning how to use blackboard along with the students.
The instructor for the course goes out of his way to help the students succeed in the class. He would create several online videos and post them on Youtube for students to watch if the students had problems with handouts that he posted through the course website. If you have any questions for the instructor, he would promptly reply to an e-mail and answer any inquiry.
He required:
- Discussion posts in response to articles in the textbook
- Three quizzes over required weekly readings
- Disciplinary Analysis Essay
- Synthesis Essay
- Annotated Bibliography
- Research/Argumentative Paper
For each paper in the course, he groups students together to form online peer editing sessions. Since the class was online, a paper was due each week of the course.
Grading:
Charles Williamson is a tough grader when it comes to papers, so be sure to put in as much effort as possible. I would not plan on taking this course for an easy A. I made an A in the course, but I had to work my tail off. The quizzes and discussion board posts for each week are not bad, but the papers are graded fairly hard. The instructor is not unfair, but count off for errors that most teachers would allow to slide by.
If you want to learn how to write effectively, take this professor. If you want an easy A, then I would suggest taking someone else.

Charles Williamson is by far the best teacher you can take for this course. There are 4 essays and a grammar exam thats it. He grades fair and on content, not grammar unlike other department professors. He will always bring a good laugh and make you look forward to going to class. Easy choice, take him.

You write 4 papers and have one grammar quiz that is worth 20% So it isn't too bad. The first paper i wrote he wrote all over the paper saying it was poorly written. Which i have to disagree with him because i had turned in the same paper I had written into a creative writting teacher and got an A. He grades really hard! He is a grad student. it's almost like he is trying to hold it over your head. You have daily quizzes. some of his comments are inapporiate also.

Chuck Williamson is a pretty easy going teacher. I didn't see him in a bad mood one day this semester. He's real leniant and understanding. We had some reading assignments, 4 out of class writings, and 4 in class writings. We always got out of class early and our class discussions usually stemmed off topic a bit and were pretty entertaining. For an 8am class it was pretty good.
