Professor Borders is a good professor he just grades very hard on his test. All test are essays but he does give a study guide. You use blackboard a lot. Overall its not a hard class just during the week you have a lot of work. It isn't hard to get a B, I should've gotten an A.

This class should be an easy class. That is an arbitrary statement, I know... but its a HIST 101 class. Taken in residence I have heard that it is. However, taken online, it is awful. Everything is essay, no other option. The amount of material is insane, and the "Reading and Questions to Think About Form (Although you do it once a semester) took me FIVE HOURS. I am a good student (3.9 GPA) and I hated this class. The amount of effort to importance ratio is out of this world. As for the professor, he seems nice. He's a bit of a smart aleck at times, and honestly, its probably the people who see the amount of work and refuse to do it that make him this way. Overall, take a different professor if you take it online. Nothing personal, Its just a bad choice, and I'm sure he is a great guy.

He was a great professor. He has good study guides. He has extra credit and take home test. He has 4 to 5 online quizes. He keeps the class interesting when he is doing his lectures. Books reports you will ahve two and there only 5 to 7 pages so its not real difficult to do them. I would recommend you take him. Im taking him again for history since 1648.

This class was so easy! There are quite a bit of essays and readings but as long as you do them you will do great in the course. He offers astronomical amounts of extra credit, so take advantage! I came out with a 100 overall and I barely studied. I would recommend this class to anyone!

Mr borders has to be the easiest history teacher! Everyone complains that western civ is hard, but with him it's not! He gives a ton of extra credit, you just have to do the 5 min activity for 30 points. So it's not hard at all. It kinda is a boring class but you have to go get the notes. Im not a huge study person and I did well! Your crazy not to take him!

This class is super easy if you take it online through south campus. Especially if you arent good at history or have a major where history is not really relevant and you need to focus your time on other classes (such as science majors :)) You will have quizzes, 2 book reports (which are easy but time consuming), discussion boards and tests. The quizzes have an unlimited time to take them, and it tells you the right answer after you submit them. There is no reason not to make a 10 out of 10 when the answers are given to you and the questions dont change. Some of the tests questions come straight from the quizzes. The discussion boards are a big part of your grade so dont forget to do them, they can be kind of difficult along with the essays on the tests. 94 MC final. Wasnt too hard. Overall, very easy A for a gen ed course. Definitely recommend taking it through South Campus if that is an option

I had tried to take Western Civ before with another teacher and he was crazy but some of my friend took Mr. Borders and loved it. I took the class in a May session and it was a piece a cake. He does require a book report but he does not grade those to hard. The exams are easy as long as you recieve the class notes and compare notes to the book.

This class was online, but it was very well done. He made sure to keep the class based on the book as that was the material you had. As long as you read and studied the book you would do fine. That and remember the discussion board postings...

I took this as a winter term and hated history until this class. Great teacher and doesn't make the class too difficult as long as you go to class and pay attention.

He is an excellent history teacher. He is very passionate about History, and teaches exciting lectures that are never dull. There was no homework except studying and two five page book reports. If you don't like history, take this class. If you do like history, take this class. He went to Western, which also makes him a great person to teach here.

Take good notes! Mr.Borders is one of the best teachers that I have ever met. You will take lots of notes. His lectures are like a story telling session(Exellent) You need to put down lots of details on his test essays. He expects you to be in class and participate. Two mandatory book reports, Five to Seven pages each. Make sure you find a book you like, because its difficult to a book report on a hard to read book.
Even if you don't like history, you will enjoy his class.
