This lady is a crazy B***h! One guy in the class had the shits and needed to go to the bathroom and she told him he could not leave. He hesitated but then went anyway - he later tried to explain to her he was very sick and she did not care. She does not care about the students at all. If you can take another professor do so!!! She has a bad attitude and does not make the course enjoyable at all. I got and A but it was a hell of a ride. I lost interest in the language after the class.

I don't know what I expected while going into this class, but what I was not pleased with what I was handed. She expects you to just be able to pick it up just like that and doesn't give much instruction on how to do anything at all. She might be a good instructor for a higher level course, but definitely not for people that are going in wanting to learn the BASICS.

This was a difficult class, but in the end I can say that I know some French. She uses a lot of power points which cover what we need to know. There are quizzes each time and that can be hard at times but she gives you opportunities to make extra credit points. My favorite part was creating the final exam as a class. It really helped. She has some great ideas at times.

I am usually an A student. This course is ridiculously hard. She believes in the immersion theory and only speaks French during class, but does these wild pantomimes to demonstrate what she is saying. I had a headache after every class meeting. She states that she does not offer extra credit, but she did offer 3 points for attending a French film and writing a paper about it, and offered 3 points one night when attendance was very low just for the people who were there. There is a quiz every single class, so if you don't go to every class, your quiz scores are going to kill you. I went to every class and did well on the quizes (strictly by memorizing). I worked extremely hard, and still only made a C.

I have always been interested in French and when I signed up for it, I couldn't wait to learn it and soon speak it. With Bossut, she required too much and she expected you learn way too much information very very very quickly. Besides her work being difficult, she was a terrible professor. She was rude and offered no help. She was not a professional at her work and she did not keep concerns from other students private. I did not learn anything from her and I regret having picked her as a professor. I still love the language and I will try to find other ways of learning it but my time was extremely wasted having taken her class.

Mrs. Bossut is a nice lady but a terrible teacher. She made this course very very difficult even though I had taken 3 years of French in high school, I almost failed it!! Do NOT take her as a teacher.

Overall I think Madame Bossut is a wonderful teacher. The only problem I see is that she doesn't explain everything that will be on the test. You can study all her notes and do all the exercises and think you're going to do great on the test, but it never fails, there's always something on there you have NOT covered. She speaks in French 80% of the time too, which isn't so bad, but it's a little too fast for 102 students. However, if you have foreign language learning talent, I highly reccomend her.

Madame Bossut is from France. She knows her French. But she moves very very fast. I honestly don't know how I came out with a B. She is nice and enthusiastic about learning French, but I don't think she understands that some people don't have four years of high school French. She is not very leniant AT ALL.You have several tests, several quizzes, and 2 oral interviews with Madame Bossut. They aren't as scary as they seem to be. Overall, a good teacher, but a very difficult class. She keeps you on your toes.

French is a hard subject at Western. They also do not offer the class often enough as with other classes. This is difficult with any French teacher at Western if you are lucky enough to get one scheduled.

Professor Bossut is a hard working teacher but lets face it a foreign language is hard. I'm an A student and I got a C in her class. I felt lost the whole semester. She offered extra credit, which I did, but it was like a 2 page paper for 2 points added to a quiz graded which made little to no difference. Good luck if you're taking this class and I'll be praying for you.

Mme Bossut is extremely nice and caring and wants you to succeed, but she moves really quickly. I took four years of French in high school, and I feel sorry for the people for whom this was their first French class. We went over more in one semester than I did in two years of high school French. This is one of those classes where you have to bite the big one and go to class every day, do all the homework assignments, and do well on the exams in order to get an A. It might be an easy B, but not an easy A.

Although Professor Bossut was a very nice and friendly woman, she made this class insanely hard. I personally had already had 3 previous years of French in high school and I still struggled to stay on top of it in this class. If you have never had French before--STAY AWAY FROM THIS CLASS! She is a native of France and seems to think everyone should speak it as fluently as she does. I think she makes this introductory course way too hard.

This lady would not accept my doctor's note causing me to miss her first test but said it was ok. As it turns out the test was worth 15% of my final grade! This woman would not help me out or work with me. I sent her 2 emails asking her to help me and she never even wrote back. She needs to go back to France.

Mrs.Bossute is a great teacher. I never had French prior to entering the class. That is why i think i got a C. Other than that she is a nice teacher and willing to help any student in need. But for those of you who haven't taken french, i wouldn't take it as a bi-term like i did. I just did it to get language out of the way. Overrall, a pretty nice teacher who is willing to lend a helping hand if you are in need.

It's not too bad of a class. She is willing to help you if you need extra assistance and acts like she actually cares. She gives a moderate amount of homework which sucks but her tests are pretty easy.

Bossut is a great teacher. She is very interesting and you can tell she loves what she does. I would definatly reccommed her. If you have never had French before though she does tend to speak a lot in French but you can usually pick up on what shes saying, also its not usualy that important. As long as you try you will do good in this class, the test are pretty easy.

I had the bi-term of this class. So obviously she went faster than she normally would, although i learned more about french and caught on faster than i expected. You do take alot of notes, but its a language class...what do u expect?! Her test arent hard becuz she gives you many "quizzes" throught the semester which help you on test. The final project in that class was some what easy after i got started on it, the only hard part would be tryin to get orginial. She's a nice person but does expect you to show up on time, she has a tendensy to start 5 minutes early.

Madame Bossut is an excellent instructor. She is a native of France and really knows her stuff. She makes class exciting with games and lots of food. You must study for this class everyday, especially if you haven't had but one year or less of French. If you do your homework, attend class, and apply yourself in general, this course will be rewarding for you. She is the nicest instructor I have had here at WKU!

She is a really great lady who wants all of her students to do well and understand the material. She is a French native and speaks the French the whole time in class. I came into this class not knowing any French, this was not the language I took in high school. Her office door was always open when I needed help. This class still remained my most challenging class even with all of her help. She requires you to go to the foreign language lab outside of class. We had two oral exams and her written exams contained listening comprehension. She gave quizzes every day at the end of class and took your best grade of the week.

Madame Bossut is a really nice person, and her test and activities are generally easy. How you do on the tests, however, may not reflect your actual knowledge of the language. At the beginning of the bi-term she made it seem as if your participation grade was based around being in class, turning in the homework, and doing the in class exercizes. Madame Bossut lowered mine and my friends grade significantly because we did not "initiate" class discussions. Also she tells you that you will get 2 quizzes each week and only the highest of the two grades count. There were at least 3 weeks that she did NOT give the class 2 quizzes. She did not specify that the ON LINE quizzes were not actually quizzes, but homework grades. My grade was EXTREMELY close to an A (89.86) but she would not round up. My friend and several others found themselves in that same situation!!!!!

If you know french prior to entering the class you might struggle. But for beginners AVOID THIS CLASS!! Unless of course you would like to learn french on your own with a poor excuse of a French book. She never writes on the board, therefore NO notes. She says you learn by listening yet your test is written. It seems she likes to speak French, I dont think she has the skills to teach it.
