She is a nice lady, but she is not a good teacher. I felt like I should have been in a journalism class because she assigns articles to read for the New York Times and you have to write two essays based on information from the paper. I would suggest to take another teacher for this course. The only good thing about the class was if you had perfect attendence you didn't have to take the final.

She is awful! I thought it was going to be an easy class, but it wasn't. She is an idiot, the class is about economy, and it's so easy it's hard. You read the New York Times and have to do a big presentation over at the end of the class, I had to write an essay over the election, as well as an essay over our topic of choice over the economy: for example, the gas prices. It's all about the economy! She doesn't explain ANYTHING, but talks so much. The only good part is that if you have perfect attendance then you don't have to take the final, but it's so hard not to skip her class. Anyway, don't take her, drop out as soon as you can! Seriously.

she is a sweet teacher but CRAZY. she gives out new york times and makes you look at articles. its stupid. you have to read the novel kite runner. its a good book but long. if you attende all classes then you get to miss the final. she cant teach very well and you are supposed to learn about writing and making your writing better but you dont. she grades your papers really hard. she doesnt really explain what you did wrong on your paper she just gives it to you. she not that good. if you get her, get out of there asap if you want to learn how to write better.

This class should be a class that allows you to gain the knowledge you will need to write in college. But all it does is let the teacher know that you can read the newspaper, which, as everyone knows, has NOTHING to do with writing an essay. As well she isn't clear with her syllabus, leaving some things out and expecting others with no call. Finally she WILL NOT tell you anything about your grades or standing whatsoever in this class. Get someone else at all costs.

the class is ok but the teacher is not the best. she tells you of assignments after she hould of like semester long journals that she tells you about a month into the class so you have to make stuff or pay the consequences. she has no understanding of what she is doing and you will not know untill the end of the year what kind of grade you have and she will not tell you.

the class is called intro to college writing, yet we did no writing. we read the new york times every day. not the articles, the editorials. at first you think it will be an easy "A", but in the end you will wish you had a harder teacher. she is sweet but crazy. we were suppose to write 4 out of class essays and 3 in class we did 2 out of class and one in class, and she did not give us the last essay tell the last and a half of classes. the class was pointless and a waste of time. do not take her find someone else. i had to do more work in university experience then in this class.
P.S. she does not give a syllabus so you never know what is coming up.

Things about this class I like:
1. You can miss up to 6 classes
2. If you are descent at writing, you'll get an A
3. Relaxed environment
4. Final was eliminated and replaced with research paper
5. Synthesis paper & research were both significantly shortened.
Things I did NOT like:
1. Rude people in the class
2. Talking about everything but how to write a paper
3. Too many emails from Ms. Pinson
4. Not much advance notice for papers due
5. Peer evaluations when my peers were incompetent
6. Wasting 2-3 class periods watching a movie & never discussing the research paper
7. Having not enough time to write the research paper

I loved Ms. Pinson as a woman. She's a good person with a good heart but it sure is impossible to write the way she wants you to. Grant it, she gives a lot of extra credit, but it's really not worth wasting your time in this class when there are a million other English teachers who would be more helpful. If you do get stuck taking this class, get ready to learn absolutely nothing in the lectures themselves (that you HAVE to attend) ~ A little advice, if you start talking and debating about something with her, she'll talk all class and you'll never get through anything. It worked for us. It's not the end of the world if you have this class, but I wouldn't recommend it

This class is composed of writing papers. It can feel very slow moving and elementary at times, but it is extremely easy. Ms. Pinson is very nice and extremely willing to help you if you ask. Also, she grades papers fairly leniently and does not expect everyone to be an English ace. I've read the other evaluations and I think they are being too hard on her. She is really very sweet and does her best to make a boring class more interesting.

You thought that smiley face was for real huh? Sike. You know when you and your friends are comparing horrible teachers that you've had in the past? I always beat them when describing Mrs. Pinson. The class is very easy...if you can make it through without killing yourself.

I'll start off nice.........Barbara is a nice little old woman who reminds you of your cranky grandmother. That's it. If you decide to take this class, be ready for ignorant opinions and mispronounciations of common used words in every day life. She never returns any of your work and expects you to know your grade. I was relieved with my grade. I expected worse. The exams blow because she gives you 1000 terms to remember whereas on the exam she only uses 20!!! So beware, and if you decide to take her class, bring a noose with you to end your misery.

Mrs. Pinson is a nice woman but she is SUCH a scatterbrain. She expects you to keep up with your own grade, but doesn't tell you how many points the assignments are worth. If you speak up in class, she will listen to what you have to say, but always gets the last word as to what SHE thinks is the right answer. Your opinion doesn't really matter. Her class is so boring. Half the time she talks endlessly about her opinion on issues, and the other half of the time she is reading critiques aloud. Don't be tardy. Three tardys equal one absense. After 5 absenses you get points taken off your grade. Also, we are about a month behind schedule, so she is going to cram drama, poetry, and the final exam into three weeks. This ladies class is crazy, but she is a nice woman.

Pinson is the worst English teacher/professor I've ever encountered. I am a passionate writer--even a print journalism major--and I literally took upon the passion to hate this class, instead.
She was extremely traditional. Everything had to be her way, everything had to be by the book, and everything had to be straightforward, rather than being a creative writer. The bad thing about it is that the class is super simple, but it'll be difficult if you're not one of her favorite students. She loves brown-nosers, so if you're that desperate to get an A, agree with everything she says.
For 55 minutes she sat there talking about her trivial political beliefs rather than relevant topics such as how to write a research paper. But if you want to waste your time debating about things that won't help you in the class, then she is the best professor for you.

This lady is quite frankly the most horribly labotomized person I have ever met. Her class sucks, is VERY boring, and to top it off, she cannot speech ENGLISH correctly (btw, she is an American.) She speaks as if she learned how to structure a sentence from some other language, and has applied it to English. Boring teacher, boring class (even if you like to read), pit of death and utter dispair. Plain as that. TAKE THIS CLASS IF YOU WISH YOUR SOUL TO ROT IN A PIT OF ETERNAL DECAY!
