I would not take this with Dr. Dan. He makes this class ten times harder. He is also very negative and unmotivating. He is very exact about what he wants. For example if you miss something by one word... theres not particual credit. I took this class the follow semester with Tony Paquin. It is much easier and enjoyable.

Dr. Dan is a very good teacher and is very passionate about statistics. He can be very frustrating because he is very idiosyncratic and specific about how he wants things done. However, he can be very helpful is you ask him. This class is difficult so I suggest taking it either over a summer or winter term if it's available or with a fairly easy course schedule because it demands a lot of time and energy. Attendance isn't mandatory but if you miss a day of class and don't get the notes from anyone else then it will hurt you greatly. Also, he is a fan of pop quizzes, so I would be prepared for the possibility of one every class period. Overall, this class is difficult, but if you go to class and pay attention, then it can be somewhat simple.

Dan is an awesome professor. Don't expect this class to be a piece of cake. Getting an A is possible, but you really do have to earn it. Dan will bend over backwards to help you, but he won't do the work for you. Come to class every day because if you miss one day you miss vital information. He gives lots of extra credit through "pool points" which is, obviously, a pool of points that he adds to through the semester and divides up among the remaining students at the end of the class. There is also 5 points of extra credit on every quiz and you always get 2 points out of the five, even if you miss the question. There are pop quizzes so study as if you have one every day because they are important to your grade. If you put forth the effort you can get a good grade!

Ok. My class was an exception to the rule. We had a tast of Bruni and Roenker. It was a hard transition, but I got a strong taste of both teachers. If you are an organizational freak and love structure then ONLY CONSIDER ROENKER!!!!! Roenker was a really great teacher and knew is stuff forwards and backwards...really quirky guy! You will have fun in his class but he means buisness and you HAVE to know your stuff, and study pretty hardcore...and he is ruthless. you miss out on a day of notes, or an apointment with him for your final project, your not allowed to ask questions and can only hope he will help you out.
If you feel as though you might struggle in the class, and can handle a VERY wishy washy teaching strategy, take Bruni. He is much better with extra credit and helping you out. He also allows group EVERYTHING...tests, projects etc. Roenker does none of this.

Dr. Roenker is an amazing instructor. Math has always come difficult to me, but in his class, for the first time, I really got it. I actualy enjoyed a lot of the material. Not to say that it wasn't tough - I cried before every exam - but ultimatly, the hard work paid off and I left feeling like I got more out of that class than just about any other class I've taken.

At the beginning of the semester, I wanted to quit because he put the fear of God in the class, but he did that only to get us prepared for how hard we would have to work for the rest of the semester. Out of all the classes, this one was my favorite. Dan is more than willing to work with you if you need help. I reccomend you start a study session with people in your class because that's what helped me. This class is difficult and requires a whole lot of your time, but it is not impossible. Make sure you study the material thoroughly every day because he gives pop quizes. If i had studied everyday properly I would've gotten an A; the pop quizes brought me doen to a B. So they can actually help you. There are two papers you have to write. Make sure that you do more than the required amount of articles and he will give you a whole bunch of extra credit for it. Don't let the first week intimidate you; it's really not that bad!! I would take him again if I had too!

Everyone seems to despise this class, but in actuality it is one of the best classes I have taken. It is difficult, I'm not going to lie, but if you pay attention, take good notes, ask questions and MAKE SURE TO GET A STUDY GROUP together, mine helped me out a lot. Also, it is a high stress class, so if you aren't into stress don't even bother. Go big or go home.

This is the toughest class the Psychology department has to offer. Dr. Dan is wonderful teacher and I would recommend taking him for this class. Unfortunately, the material is so hard there is no easy out teacher you can take that you can put minimum effort in and still make an A. Dr. Dan motivates you to want to do your best, but you also have to put alot into it. He gives many pop quizzes (that can hurt your grade if you're not prepared). But he does an excellent job at helping you learn the material thoroughly. There are 2 papers you have to write, but he proofreads the first one for you, which makes things a bit easier. Extra Credit is available, but usually you won't know it's there until he gives it to you. This class is a critical thinking class and involves a lot of math, so you may have to study 12-15 hours a week to make a solid grade in this class, but I would highly recommend taking Dr. Dan. It's a hard class, but he's a great teacher for it.

Ah, the Psychology class that everyone hates. I thought I would hate this class, but it was my favorite one. Dr. Dan appears to be evil/tricky with his questions, but he really wants all his students to pass. Be ready for the quizzes because they can kill your grade. Make sure you get your papers proofread because that could bump you up a LOT. Dr. Dan is a wonderful teacher, and a wonderful person. He loves joking around with his students, so don't be offended, he's just trying to make the class fun! He's great, take him.

Yes the course is difficult, but what Stats class isn't?? He is by far one of the best professors I have ever had. He is willing to help you if you are willing to ask! Even thought the class is 2 hours long...it can be enjoyable when he tells you about his peep-loving stories and back in his "geek" phases. If you are willing to do the work involved in this class, there is no reason why a person should not get at least a B in the class. Not to mention, he has pool points (sorta' like extra credit) that he divides up to everyone in the class at the end of the semester! It's hard work, but at least you learn stuff!

One of the best classes and professors I have had in college. This class will take effort, but somehow it becomes enjoyable. Dr. Dan gives many opportunities to gain points- lots of quizzes, rewrites on the papers, some extra credit. He presents the material logically, and actively helps the class to understand.

I took Dan's class a few semester ago and I was looking back at the evaluations to see what other people thought. While I don't want to knock the people who gave him poor evaluations, I do think it's important to clarify that, in general, the people who don't like his class are people that aren't motivated to work hard. It's a tough class, but it's challenging, not impossible. Getting into grad school requires more than just a good grade in stats; it requires a firm understanding of statistics. Don't sell yourself short by taking a professor you've heard is easier. You'll have to earn your grade in this class, but you'll leave with a foundation of statistical knowledge which will greatly benefit you once you go to grad school.

He is nice as a person but as teacher I wouldn't recommend him if you are more of a visual and slow learner. He does things fast and he tries to help but if you aren't up to speed then its all over!

Dr.Roenker is one of the best teachers i have ever had. He really makes you think and pushes all his students to do the best they can. He cares alot about his students but he does not play around with learning. Keeping up with homework is very important. There is no attendance policy but if you miss class he will pick on u the next day by making you explain the homework. Be ready to work, but it is worth it.

This is a difficult class, but Dr. Roenker is a wonderful teacher. I may not have made and A in the class, but I learned alot. He makes you actually learn the material instead of just memorizing it for the tests. He is always helpful and tries to keep you from stressing out. I would recommend taking him for any class.

Dan roenker does not know how to present the material. His tests are over five chapters, which is too much material to remember for one test. He told me that I was his worst student in all his years of teaching. I came to class, I took notes, I did not talk during class, but I did not understand the material. He had to right to tell me that I did the poorest job on the papers we had to write. I think he is very chauvinistic.
