The class in of itself was very informative. The teacher on the other hand wasn't. One of my friends told me that it was near impossible to get an A on the group presentation. This was true. We worked our collective @$$3$ off and got a 55/70, which is a C. Not to mention one of our group members never came to class.
The teacher always talked down to the students saying "You could have done better by X Y or Z." Then when we ask for her opinion, she won't give it. I just don't know. I feel like I did most of the learning with my own notes and the powerpoint, and not the teacher. She's about as bland as a dry piece of toast. It wasn't an easy A, but a well-deserved one in my eyes.

This has been one of my favorite classes at WKU. Mrs. Kim makes the class very fun. She has a very strong accent, but she jokes around alot. To get a good grade in the class you need to know the study guide very well, and also read all of the chapters. She gets some questions out of the book that she never mentioned in class. I did well in this class because I studied alot and took advantage of all of her extra credit opportunites. If you're willing to study, I definitely recommend this class.

I found this class to be interesting at first, but then it tends to get a little boring towards the end. Mrs. Kim is nice and not too difficult to understand, but communicating with her can be a little tiring after a bit. If you are interested in a sexuality class, I would recommend sexuality and society over this or the psychology class. This is a health class, so we didn't really talk about extremely interesting stuff. The work isn't too bad, but know that Kim grades the group project very harshly. You need to do really well on the presentation and she loves class participation. The tests weren't too difficult if you know basic information about sexuality. But don't slack. She will also expect you to know dates of things due and will often not remind you that something is due the next class. Overall, it was ok.

This class was not too bad. There are a lot of notes and a majority of the test questions come from them. Although we rarely used the textbook I would advise getting it just because some of her test questions come from it. However I knew a few students who didn't get one and got an A. A lot of people think she is difficult to understand because of her accent but I never had a problem with her. She is actually pretty funny. There are essay questions on the test but you answer them in a group. There is a group project which is very easy. There were 4 tests including the final. The final was not comprehensive (only 3 chapters). She gives tons of extra credit! Take advantage of it early on. She takes attendance every day and if you don't miss any class you get 15 bonus points. 10 points if you only miss once. Overall a good class

Interesting class. It's hard to understand her accent sometimes, and she speaks very softly. I learned a lot in this class. If you come to class you get extra credit at the end of the semester. You have one big group project to do, but she allows you plenty of time to work on it. I would recommend this class to anyone!

The class wasn't too hard if you read the book, however the tests would be over like 4 chapters at a time and the chapters were really long. Mrs. Kim was really hard to understand. She would put some of the notes on the overhead to copy but not everything, so you really had to rely on your book.

This class proved to be informative as well as interesting. Dr. Kim expects her students to be on time and willing to engage in class discussions over taboo material (pregnancy, birth control, porn, masturbation, fetishes, rape).
There are 3-4 exams that contain ~50 multiple choice (you bring your own scantrons) and 4 short answer. The final is mandatory but isn't cumulative.
There are also other assignments due over the semester including a book/movie review, quizzes, and a group presentation.
Attendance is required, with 5 absences being the maximum. Any more than that will lower your grade a whole letter per absence. She does reward perfect attendance with +15 points and +10 to one absence.
Make sure that you get the book since there is material on the tests that is not covered in class. The group presentations also depend on the text material so it makes having the book doubly important.
She does offer extra credit, varying from 3-5 points. The easiest form of EC to do is go to one of the HIV screenings and write a one page reaction for 5 points.
In all, if you do take Dr. Kim make sure you go to class, get the book and pay attention and you can get a deserved A.

First off, believe me, this PH 100 class is HARD. No joke. Don't think that this is PH from high-school, this class not only requires VERY GOOD study habits, but also requires alot of unique skills to get an A. This class not only is Hard for everyone who took it, it really ate some Deans-list students alive, with every class meeting in the 2nd half of the semester starting with everyone taking about how they were getting Cs and Ds in this class, when it was "supposed" to be their easy class this semester. I also fell into this trap, and came in thinking that with 19 hrs this semester, this would be just a little extra, like PSY 100, or SOC 100, etc. Ms. Kim is a nice lady (really), but she will pull no punches on your grades, and will not argue with you about them. She pulls her questions on the test from the book (not required, but highly reccomended), her lectures (WRITE DOWN EVERY WORD SHE SAYS), and thin air (some of the stuff she had on the test was NEVER covered, believe me). Tests are 50+ questions with two short answers at the end (usually), and are often worded backwards, or strangely, or slightly modify correct answers to make them wrong, like SPF 15 instead of SPF 20. If you have a real head for remembering EXACTLY what she says, reading between the lines of what she lectures, and taking GOOD notes, you can get an A too in this class. Really, the tests are ALL your grade is based on, with little else going to assignments, etc. Overall a nice lady, but she will pitch a MEAN test EVERY TIME, so be prepared, and be warned!

Ms. KIm's class was by far the worst class I have had at WKU. The class itself is not difficult, but she made me dread going to class on Tues/Thurs. Her tests are two parts: one part is scantron and the other part is short answer. Attendance is not required, but if you have perfect attendance you can earn extra credit. Do NOT buy the book because it is a waste of money. You can get by in the class without it. She doesn't give very many notes, but it takes her forever to get through her slides. Overall, I would not recommend this class, but if you are like me and have to take the class...good luck!

Jae Kim is an alright teacher, but this is not the class to take if you are expecting an easy A in a health class. You take notes all day, every day, but the tests also cover things that you find in the chapters, and the tests are detail oriented. There are lots of opportunities for extra credit, but attendance is mandatory, and missing more than 5 classes drops 30 pts. from your grade! The class was alright, and I would recommend it if you don't have a problem going to class. It can be boring, so be prepared, cause you'll want to skip!

This class is terrible...well, not so much the class as the teacher. Mrs. Kim speaks too low, and she does not respond well when she is questioned about her grading. She tends to favor athletes in the class, and if she says something is extra credit, don't believe her. She'll take off points for not turning in something she said was extra credit...then she laughs about it. This class is way too difficut for a 100 level class, and I'm a senior taking 400 level classes!

Mrs. Kim is awesome. She has awesome personal stories and keeps you laughing. Sometimes her notes can be a little boring, but her comments are cute. Sit close to the front, she's not very loud and STH heaters don't help. Also, her accent is strong, but if you pay attention, it very rarely is a problem. She offers a TON of extra credit, up to 19 points and then 12 points if you have perfect attendance. She is available during her office hours and willing to help you on anything. :-) Oh yeah, there are only 2 assignments all semester, and they are opinion/personal essays.

Mrs. Kim is not a very good teacher. She does cover a few things on the test but you're better off reading the book. Show up for class though. She gives 12 extra points for perfect attendance. Don't miss more than 5 because she takes off 30 points. She's a very boring teacher and I could condense everything she has to say in an hour into 10 minutes of writing, easily. I have no problem with her being Korean but she likes to repeat words over and over again. It's very distracting. If the class was only 10 or 15 minutes like it should, this class would be a breeze.

Mrs. Kim's accent is very difficult to understand, but if you sit near the front, it isn't too bad. The content is the same stuff you've been learning since middle school (drinking, STD's, cancer, heart disease, etc...) so it isn't too hard. She does give extra credit if you haven't missed days, so try to get to class. There's other extra credit she offers throughout the semester for attending AA meetings or other such things. She is very nice, but has difficulty answering some questions, given her broken English. Overall, if you can focus, it shouldn't be too much of a problem; but be prepared to teach yourself a little bit. Mrs. Kim is really hard to understand, so make sure to get a seat up front. The things that you learn about are pretty much common sense. She gives quite a few notes, but as long as you keep yourself up to date on reading in the text, you won't need to take down every little thing she says. She gives study sessions before the tests, which are a little helpful. But the majority of learning is left up to you. There was quite a bit of extra credit in this class, including for not missing any days of class, or only missing one day of class. Just whatever you do, sit as close as you can.

So, after realizing this, who wants to go to class? Well, think again! Attendance is highly important, she takes 30 points off one of your grades in the class (like a test, for example) if you miss more than 3 times. Twice=minus 10 points, and once=minus 5 points. Mrs. Kim is a very nice lady..although she expects you to know every little thing..the tests come not only from her notes but the book as well..the tests are kind of difficult but with at least 3 hours of studying you can do well..oh and she has a huge problem with repeating herself

If you value your sanity and your life DON'T take Jae Kim. She is the worst instructor I have ever had at any school I have ever attended. Her accent is frustratingly annoying, she speaks in a whisper, she assigns busy work, she talks about the stupidest topics, she

This class is pretty darn hard to be a 100 level course. She gives lots of notes, and her tests are very thorough. Attendance is required, but you can get extra credit for good attendance. She also gives other ways to get extra credit, which is good considering the tests are so hard.

There are no words to describe how mind numbingly boring this class is. And for how inane the attendance policy is. This teacher has taken a class that should just be a refresher and made it so boring even the flies on the walls don't want to be there. Forget trying to understand her accent unless you are up to a challenge. Endlessly repeating herself is her favorite activity. Students are discouraged from in-class participation and assignments are not explained in a manner befitting a college instructor. Ms. Kim is rude to her students and is not willing to accept tardies even when a valid reason is given. (Such as being held over in your last class or having car trouble.) Extra credit is in the form of experiences you must pay for at the health center. She continuously berates her students, assigns menial work designed to

Even though Mrs. Kim is hard to understand she is very nice and personable. She actually has a personality which makes the class somewhat interesting. Everything discussed in class are on her tests so you do in fact need to study. There are only two assignments and extra credit is offered.

She is a really good teacher if you are the kind of person interested in learning. She's real nice so it's worth the extra effort to talk to her and get to know her too!

Nice lady, but gets off subject easily. Very basic stuff, so basic you sometimes become bored. But overall a caring and kind instructor.

She is a bit hard to understand, but you get used to it. She is willing to help if you need it. Studying is a must for her tests though.
