Additional Comments |
Ms. Payton appears to be a little intimidating at first, but she's good-natured overall. She' s a lot more flexible than she lets on that she is. There are three papers in this class along with some smaller miscellaneous writing assignments and a quiz or two. There are no exams. It felt sometimes like she gave us the assignment without instructions to go with it--it was almost as if we were expected to know what we were doing already. You have to come up with questions over your reading assignments to "inspire group discussion." At the end of the semester, you have to pick fifteen of your best questions and write short paragraph answers to be turned in as a Reader Response Journal. I'm not one much for literature, so I didn't really enjoy the class. I thought the poetry section would never end. Overall, Ms. Payton is an ok instructor-- certainly not the worst I've had, but not the best either.
