Mr. Cesler conducted a relatively interesting class. He knew his subject very well but obligations of his day job and his family kept him from being readily available to students for one on one help. Almost none of our homework assignments were given back so it was very hard to tell how you were doing in the class. We had to write three in-class essays and two out of class essays. Punctuation review was a very large part of the class. You can definitely learn to write essays in his class but will have to stay on your toes and apply yourself; don't plan to just float thru this class because it won't work. Mr. Cesler is a very nice man but is quite a bit too busy to do complete justice to the class.

I haven't taken Cesler at WKU but I had him in highschool and he is AWESOME! I loved going to his class. To this day he remains one of my favorite teachers ever. He is incredibly intelligent and doesn't make you feel stupid if you aren't on his level. He is also very encouraging, especially when he sees potential. I would reccommend anyone to take Cesler, but I will warn you, if you don't try, you won't do well.

I loved Mr. Cesler's class. He loves to get a discussion going on controversial issues, but be prepared to give a defense for where you stand. He really teaches you the whole process of how to write an essay. We wrote two large papers: a persuasive essay and a compare/contrast essay. We also had to write three in-class essays as well as several out-of-class essays we kept in a journal to be turned in at the end of the semester. He gives reading assignments as homework: watch out!! You will be given a pop quiz on them, and he doesn't necessarily warn you. He lets you drop the one with the lowest score, but these are all so easy to mess up on. He also quizzed us once on some notes he had given us the week before, and that was quite unexpected. He gives lots of handouts--keep them organized. Mr. Cesler teaches high school during the day, so it felt sometimes like we didn't get our assignments back soon enough to do us any good. The final was a cumulative exam mostly on punctuation stuff we had gone over throughout the semester, but make sure you also know the proper way to cite sources, etc. Mr. Cesler is a top-notch teacher. I highly recommend him.

Cesler is a very good teacher if you really want to learn how to write essays. He has an engaging teaching style, and we had some interesting discussions on various issues. He requires you to put forth your best effort, but he teaches the process very well. We wrote two big essays and 4 in-class essays. We did a lot of punctuation review the first half of the semester. The final was cumulative of all the punctuation rules--nothing difficult. It is essential not to miss any classes since this was a once-a-week night class--especially not in the last half of the semester.

Cesler was a cool guy but was really hard. He gave a grammar quiz every week and most people failed. I liked the class but it was hard.
