Dr. Johnson knows so much and has the experience to teach this class. The problem is, she doesn't know how to teach. About 95% of the time the ENTIRE class was confused about assignments because she would randomly assign about 10 things to do for the next class that WEREN'T on the syllabus. Then, next class meeting she wouldn't say anything about turning those assignments. I've never done sooooo much busy work in my life. We had soo many little assignments from her that I couldn't believe how she could keep up with it all and our grades...turned out she couldn't after two months. She stopped updating our grades on Blackboard. All the assignments we did after two months turned out to not matter and our final grade was based only on our final project which was really hard and overwhelming.
Oh, and for every 2 classes you miss your FINAL GRADE drops a letter grade. If you miss even one class you will be lost. Almost half of my class dropped the class within the two weeks. If you're willing to have no life and stay up until late hours of the early morning...then go ahead and take this class. It is NOT taught like an Intro level class though, so be prepared to work really, really, really hard if you want a good grade.

Dr. Johnson may seem hard at first to some, but she offers lots of knowledge about writing. She will prepare you to write to the best of your ability and will work with you if you ask. She was willing to help and allowed the class to make corrections to writings that were not complete. The quizzes seemed hard to some as well, but the main grade comes from the main writings. Come to class, listen to what she wants, and remember the Associated Press rules.

Pam Johson is one of the most intelligent and wordly people I have met. Her assignments are straightforward and not too hard. She is willing to help students, as long as they are willing to work. She's a smart woman who knows what she's doing. You do have to work in this class, but it's worth it. The final is a feature story you'll write which she compares to your work from the beginning of the semester to see how much you have progressed. You will also have simple grammar quizzes.
