Dr. Mayhew is an excellent teacher. He goes slowly (sometimes too slowly) and logically through the material so that everyone can comprehend what he is explaining. I thoroughly enjoyed his class.

I think I can safely say my extreme hatred for Philosophy has nothing to do with Professor Mayhew's style of teaching or is his fault in any way. He worked very hard to explain concepts to us and help us to understand the material. He is also a very nice individual. I am glad I was in his class, even though I found the subject to be time-consuming and difficult.

Class was cancelled a lot. Dr. Mayhew expects code to conform to certain constraints, and in the process removes some of the choices you would normally be able to make as a programmer. However, he was very lenient on grades in our class because of his absences.

A lot of CS students are scared of this class, esp. with Dr. Mayhew. However, he certainly knows his stuff and the best part is that some of the CS students that annoy you in your early classes don't make it past this one. That always makes the class more enjoyable. :)

Mayhew is a horrible professor. He'll give you a program to write with 5 or 6 pages worth of instructions, and everything has to be followed to the letter othewise you will lose all kinds of points. He teaches class very slowly, and when someone asks a question he may or may not answer it, depending on his mood, and if he does answer it, it may take him 15-20 minutes to explain a simple concept. The class isn't that hard, the only real trouble is trying to figure out exactly what he wants and tayloring your work to that and staying awake. Avoid him if you can. But if its anything like this year he is the only professor that teaches it.

This class is not nearly as bad as I thought it was going to be. Don't let everyone have you scared to death of the class. Dr. Mayhew seems to be a reasonable person. I will admit his programming assignments are very particular but if you can follow directions that shouldn't be a problem.

This teacher is hard. Class is the most boring thing ever. I had to tape my eyelids open just to stay awake. Definetly a DO NOT TAKE.

First, he is a stickler for assignments. If you vary even a tad from what he wants, you will lose points by the boatload. Second, much of the syntax used in this language is not adequately explained, and he does not seem very receptive to discussion in class. Third and finally, what is the true point to learning assembly language when there are dozens of high-level languages out there? Learning assembly language seems as necessary as learning Latin or Sumerian. Many of the Ph.D.s in the CS department at WKU do not know Assembly Language.

Dr. Mayhew is an excellant professor. He only has tests with a couple of essays on them. No papers to write. Excellant teacher!!
