Anyone who likes this guy is a friggin IDIOT! The ones who give him the good reviews are the ones we see out at the bar drinking with him and brown-nosing him. All this guy ever did in my class was make fun of us for how stupid we are. He spends most of the class time just making fun of us and laughing at us. I can't believe he has positive responses. His homeworks are hard. If you get the number wrong by 0.0000001, you get the whole problem wrong from that point. I spent more time studying for this class than all other classes in my college career. I hated every minute of this class simply because the teacher is a complete and total JERK.Oh yeah, tests have very wordy and tricky multiple choice, NON PRACTICAL questions. I just wanted to flog the guy instead of listening to his cock attitude.

Dr. Abernethy is a great professor. While the subject matter is undeniably difficult, he is very knowledgeable and makes chemistry a lot more interesting than most professors do. Plus, he has a great English accent that makes him very easy to listen to!

Professor Abernethy is a great professor. He manages to take some of the pain out of what is going to be a difficult class no matter what. He gives a lot of notes but can crack a good joke every once in a while to keep you awake.

This class is the real deal. The first few tests are real tough so get a lot of studying in for them. Gets easier at the end of year. Take pages of notes each class. He doesnt show how to work out the problems, just the answers. I would recommend taking someone else or take 116 before taking on this class.

Dr. Abernethy is a great teacher for one of the toughest courses out there. While it is true that he has all of his notes on slides, if you have taken a chemistry course in high school you will remember some of it. He is amusing, and also a very pleasant guy, and has helped me out quite a bit.

I felt like this prof. really cared about his student though he might not come across like that at first. I went for help from him outside of class and I felt like he was concerned that I understood the material. His notes are presented well and easy to follow. The notes also follow the book fairly well. I had to audit this class before with Dr. P (satan). It is still difficult but Abernethy presents concepts more directly.

Dr. Abernethy is a great professor, he loves chemistry and he is good at teaching it. Out of all of the chemistry 120 professors, he gives out the most A's. That doesn't mean it's not difficult though, so you have to work pretty hard at it

This is one of the worst classes I have had at Western. I took Chem116 and had a 98 average, and I have a C in this class! I have learned absolutely nothing in this class besides what I have taught myself. His tests are hard, his quizes are hard and his idea of teaching is using the overhead to display about 20 slides per class. The only thing I gained from this class was a cramp in my hand.

Mr. Abernethy is horrible. He is from Britian and compares us to his British students frequently. Just take my word for it and avoid colin abernethy.

Dr. Abernethy has an excellent method of teaching the practical applications of the material you learn, making it easier for you to understand, and has a great sense of humor as well. Overall, he's a great professor, but an even better person and a wonderful mentor of mine personally.
