Additional Comments |
I loved Mr. Cesler's class. He loves to get a discussion going on controversial issues, but be prepared to give a defense for where you stand. He really teaches you the whole process of how to write an essay. We wrote two large papers: a persuasive essay and a compare/contrast essay. We also had to write three in-class essays as well as several out-of-class essays we kept in a journal to be turned in at the end of the semester. He gives reading assignments as homework: watch out!! You will be given a pop quiz on them, and he doesn't necessarily warn you. He lets you drop the one with the lowest score, but these are all so easy to mess up on. He also quizzed us once on some notes he had given us the week before, and that was quite unexpected. He gives lots of handouts--keep them organized. Mr. Cesler teaches high school during the day, so it felt sometimes like we didn't get our assignments back soon enough to do us any good. The final was a cumulative exam mostly on punctuation stuff we had gone over throughout the semester, but make sure you also know the proper way to cite sources, etc. Mr. Cesler is a top-notch teacher. I highly recommend him.
