I don't know if I have enough time to sit here and write why I had a miserable time in this class. First off, there is barely any correlation between the useless information she tells us and what is actually on the tests. Second, BUY AN ACTUAL ECON BOOK. The book is written by the professor and the terrible organization and scattered information makes it almost impossible to comprehend. The professor would post a sample test online to give us a study guide and it was almost like the chapters being covered weren't even relevant to the answers she decided to put on the test. This made studying literally pointless because you were already set up for failure. I couldn't even find the answers to the question in the book SHE wrote, how does she expect people to do good on her tests then? Long story short this class is terrible and I urge anyone to take the subject only with a different professor.

Dr. Strow is a very good teacher, and she tries to keep class as up to date and fun as she can. She makes you do "Debates" about every other week where you find articles on the web on both sides of an argument then as a class you discuss them. They are her form of extra credit bringing the grade way up since the test and quizzes can be tough unless you look over the review she has you fill out. Take her, great teacher good class!

She is an amazing teacher. You will learn things in the class, and need to study some but it is not overbearing by any means. The tests come straight from her notes and she makes it near impossible to get anything but an A in her class. She explains everything in detail and wont move on until you get it. She is a very nice woman and a great teacher to take. I would definitely reccomend any class she teaches.

Her lectures tend to get very confusing and borring. When taking notes it gets quite confusing because you don't know whether you should stop and listen or draw the graphs that she is drawing so it is just hard to know what to do. Take her husband you'll actually get a better grade and you'll learn something and it'll make since.

Dr. Strow was a good instructor, but I found that the course topic itself was difficult. This class is used to weed out people in the business major, so it is one of the more difficult gen-ed classes. She offers extra credit and makes it out to be a big opportunity, but when you come to class that day, you can only get up to 3 points (if you team wins). So, extra credit for her does nothing for you. Also, usually each exam is over the content you studied since the previous exam, but in her case every exam is cumulative. I found this to hurt the most.

She was a pretty good teacher, the material was kind of hard to understand at times, the graphs are a pain to learn. I also had this class at 8 am and i prayed everyday she would get morning sickness so it would be cancled. Needless to say that didnt happen. She was very helpfull by posting last years tests on her website, and overing review sessions. The material is really confusing and i left the one session more confused then before. The book has an online website with online tests and vocab quizes that really helped me study and learn the vocab. She is a really nice teacher she bumped me up from a D to a C, which was my first C in my life!

Dr. Strow has interesting lectures and her tests aren't that hard. Homework isn't mandatory. There are three quizzes and 3 or 4 tests and then a cumulative final. Heard from a classmate that she's not nice in person, but I never went to her office hours. She seems like a really nice person.

Do not buy the book unless you just want to read in detail the information she gives in class. She gives you EVERYTHING you need to know in class so attendance is a must. The quizzes and Exams come straight from the notes. You actually have to understand the information to apply it to the problems on the tests but if you pay attention in class she always works sample problems. She goes out of her way to prepare you for a test: gives sample problem worksheets, post additional practice material on her web site and posts old exams so you know what to expect. She even has study sessions before the exams. WHAT MORE CAN YOU ASK FOR! I don't understand how anyone can 'suck up a test' in her class as she is a great instructor and explains the concepts in an understandable way. The only thing I didn't like is the fact that she gives such huge curves. You can make a 40 on the test and end up with a 75. I think that's why most people don't do well on the tests because they know the curve will save them. They don't pay attention in class and then complain about her tests being hard. If you are a big baby and want everything spoon fed to you then don't take her class (actually you should just drop out of college) but if you want to LEARN the basic concepts of Economics then C. Strow's class will not dissapoint you.

I absolutely HATE this class. I have studied and studied and studied and studied and still sucked up the test. I have always at least done some what well on a test when I studied and I study more on her tests than any but they are so dang hard. She uses baby words in class then gives us the tests and I've never seen these words in my life. DO NOT buy the text book, all of the material from the book is on her website, it is a waste of money. At least there is somewhat of a curve on her tests, otherwise I would really be screwed. Out of 78 people I counted nine that got A's on her first quiz, oh and by the way she post your grades on the internet. With a code name, but just don't let anyone know what it is. She will most definitely fool you the first day, then prepare to be shocked when the first quiz comes. Well, if your crazy engouh to take it all I can say is good luck... cause your gonna NEED it!!!!

Dr. Strow is a great instructor for 150 and/or 202. I had her for both and she definitely makes sure students know the material instead of simply blitzing through it. This course, though, does require a lot of mathematical calculations (although nothing outside of what you'd find in your 8th or 9th grade algebra class) so if you hate math it may not be the class for you. Then again, it's economics so you need some math to go along with it.
Your grades are all based on tests and quizzes. You have four quizzes in the class that are worth 15% of your grade and your lowest quiz grade gets dropped. You have three examinations over the course of the semester that are worth 20% each and your final is cumulative and is worth 25% of your grade. Although the final is cumulative, though, your cumulative section comes from questions from the exams you've already taken (although they may be modified a bit) and that helps with studying.
While the class doesn't have an attendance policy I'd recommend that you go every day. If you miss you'll easily get behind as Dr. Strow follows her own way and doesn't follow the book too often. She also gives out homework sheets and while you don't have to do them since they are never collected & graded I'd recommend it since it sharpens the math/problem solving skills you'll need for the exams.
Dr. Strow always makes herself available for help and offers study sessions for the test. She also makes notes easy to take by writing definitions and drawing graphs on the board and clearly illustrating what they mean. Therefore, she's a great instructor to have if you have difficulty with econ.
STUDY TIP: When studying for your exams/quizzes do your best to learn everything b/c the questions aren't always clear. For example,. some questions will require you to know various formulas/definitions/processes in order to solve them and get the right answer. Therefore, THINK outside the box!

Economics for most is considered difficult. Dr. Strow is a nice person, and a pretty good teacher. You HAVE TO come to class! She gives very good, organized, detailed notes and during the review she tells you exactly what will be on the test. She's strict on attendance, and you have to buy your own scantrons and be totally prepared. On her website, she has posted practice problems and sample exams from last year. Very organized and prepared, you just have to do all the work and come to class.

She's a great communicator. She knows how to take the material and break it down so that you understand it. She keeps a website where she posts practice tests and quizzes to ensure you understand what's going on. She has study sessions that completely help you understand the material even better than in class, and she's always willing to help in any way. Attendance is not required, but you should still go. It's not a boring class. DON'T BUY THE BOOK!!! Everything that she feels is important will be in your notes and she will never pull anything from the book that she didn't talk about. I never studied and made a B. So study a little and it's an easy A.

Claudia Strow was a great teacher!! I heard through other students that she was really boring, but she only teaches a subject that really isn't exciting. I think she made economics very interesting, and there are times that you get in groups and play games for extra credit on quizzes and tests. You have 3 exams before the final and 4 quizzes. The quizzes are not that hard and the exams are not too difficult. She posts practice problems and sample exams to help you study for each exam and quiz. I took her for ECON 202 and 203 and thought she was a great teacher. There are a lot of notes involved with the course and you don't use your book a whole lot. Dr. Strow is very nice and helpful and I definately recommend her for a teacher of this subject. I hear that her husband is cool to have too.

This teacher is really sweet, she's young and doesn't try to bore you with stuff that doesn't matter. She is really really good about giving you lots of practice with problems. She also has a website that has practice tests and worksheets and she gives you the answers to check them with. These practice tests are pretty much what will be on the real test just worded differently. She also has study guides on the website and review sessions before all the tests. You have a quiz between each test that are only 10 questions and you can drop your lowest score. She curves on just about everything. The bonus she offers is like a few extra points for doing a quiz one day when not that many people showed up for class. We also had a review game for the final that she gave extra points on just for showing up. I had no problems with her or the class, but I think that if I had she would have been very understanding and willing to work things out with me.

Dr. Strow had a green smiley face until the last few weeks of class (after teacher evaluations). Her tests are very hard, but she curves them a whole lot. There are 5 or 6 quizzes, 3 tests, and a very difficult cumulative final. The final was most people's worst grade. No one made an A before the curve...once curved, though, people made 100's. She gives a ton of notes (mainly graphs) and when you look back at your notes to study it's sometimes hard to understand. She does curve grades very well, however. Her tests are difficult though. Often I would take a quiz or exam and think I did really well but then found out I didn't when I got it back.... very discouraging.
