Dr. Lu does not work well with students when things come up where you have to miss class, exspecially if it inconviences her in any way. So be careful! She can be mean. The only time you use the book is to look at a couple of tables. It's pretty much a waste, so you could copy the tables and you should be fine.

Go to class everyday. Make sure you read her attendance policy carefully. If you miss four or more classes she takes off 20 pts. from your grade. Be advised that there are two tests on test day, one consisting of an open book, open note and then the next you can do on your own on Blackboard, EXCEPT for the final where you have to take both parts in class. Take good notes and label your examples well and you will do fine on the open book part. Also, know how to do the problems before you take the test, because you can run out of time and this happened to me on the second test. The online quizzes can help you on the closed book. Also, her accent tends to trip you up a little bit. I've had to ask her to repeat some of the things she says a few times.

Dr. Lu is a good professor. However, biostatistics class is boring to say the very least. I definitely do not recommend taking this as a night course; it is way too long to sit in this class. Her tests are divided between an online part that you do on your own and an in class part that is taken in the class room. The online part is closed book and you have a limited time to take the exam, but the questions are multiple choice and are fairly easy. The in class part of each exam is open note and open book. However, that does not mean the in class part is "easy". Just remember that the most important thing is to take VERY good notes and make sure that you label the examples she gives you in class so that when you get to the test you can compare the in class examples to the test questions.

This isn't the easiest class in the world, but Dr. Lu makes it seem so easy. She has a Chinese accent, but you'll forget about it after a few classes. She really knows her stuff and will help you any way she can. Attendance isn't mandatory, but is highly necessary to keep up and extra credit is awarded for perfect attendance. I recommend Dr. Lu to anyone.

Dr. Lu does a good job with this class. If you do the online exercises and just review your notes before the tests, you will breeze through. She takes test questions right off the exercises and you will get to use your book, notes, etc for the problem solving portion of the test. I definitely recommend her.

This class wasn't as bad as I thought it would be. When you are trying to study it may seem very hard. Her tests, on the other hand, are very easy. There is a closed book portion that is mostly multiple choice. Most of the questions come from the practice quizzes, so be sure to print them out. The problem solving portion is open book and open notes

Biostats is not an easy course to begin with. But Dr. Lu makes it as understandable as possible. You have easy quizes and part of the tests are open book and note.

Go to class. You miss one day, and it's difficult to understand the material missed.

Dr. Lu is a good instructor. I did poorly on my first test, but recieved one-on-one help from Dr. Lu the rest of the semester and brought my grade up to a C. I heard people talk about how easy this class was for them, but I have never been a "math person"

I felt this class was hard, I felt I did the work that was assigned and gave extensive answers on my test, but still ended up with a C. Some people it came very easy to other struggled throughly. Dr. Lu is a nice lady, but she doesn't like to be questioned. She does like involvement in class, but to many questions and she gets discouraged. She is hard to understand because of her foreign accent, and she has a hard time still understanding English. She was the only one teaching the class at the time, so if you can get a another teacher it would be in your best interest.
