This class is awesome. Unlike I assumed would be the case, there are no speeches or persuasive papers required by this class -- it is strictly lecture. There is no attendance policy, but Dr. Wicklander is so hilarious that you actually want to go to class (though his humor is very dry).
You are required to do a six-page paper and may do another for extra credit. It will be the easiest paper of your college career.
There is no textbook; he writes everything you need to know on the board. Make sure you write down what exactly he puts on the board and you will do very well in this class. I literally played with my phone for the duration of every class period (stopping to write when he added new notes to the board, of course) and came out with an A.

I got a B in the class. I would suggest showing up so that you can take good notes. Listen to his examples because he puts those on the tests alot. The blue sheet is a cheat sheet, if you write down everything youre good. Tests are fill in the blank and short answer. Dont go to this class hungover. Notes are written on the board, pay attention because sometimes you cant read his handwriting. Overall a good class. You can write an extra paper for extra credit. The paper is just alot of short answer stuff, only takes a few hours to write. He is pretty easygoing for being so old. I would take another class with him.

Wicklander is an odd character, but the class overall is pretty easy. There are 3 tests and 1 paper due at the end of the semester. The material is generally easy. He gives students a blue sheet to use as a "cheat sheet" during tests and any information you can fit onto both sides is fair game to use during the tests. The class is slightly boring but his examples are hilarious sometimes.

Dr. Wicklander is a very nice guy. The only problem was he was never in his office during his posted office hours. He made lame jokes through the whole semester that he wants you to laugh at. Make sure you speak from memory and you don't read for a piece of paper. He never taped our speeches, he justwrote comments on our outlines. His Exams our very easy if you come to class and take notes. The exam is right from the notes he gives you in class. Overall, I think he did a good job and would be good to take.

This class was one of the easiest I have had in a long time. Mr. Wicklander's course is really laid back. Attendance is NOT required, BUT his tests are based solely on the lectures he gives during class. On every test, including the final, he gives a blank sheet of paper for us to write notes on and use as a cheat sheet. Our only assignment in the class is to do two six-page papers which are made up of answering as many or as few questions as you want from a packet he gives us at the very beginning of class. You have until the end of the semester to turn in both papers, and any extra papers you do are considered extra credit.

He is an intersesting man to say the least... there are 4 speeches and 3 tests. For the tests you can survive on the notes. DO NOT BUY THE BOOK! He tells you everything in class. Be sure you study, though... you have to know the material in order to do well. For the speeches, you only have to go for the day you are assigned, but he does take your attendance into consideration while grading. He grades on your improvement as well as how you do with your speeches. Overall he is a good teacher, and the class is interesting because you get to know more about your classmates through their speeches. I highly recommend this class and professor.

Two words: Pipe Organ. I've never met anyone with a more intense interest in something so uninteresting.
This man is an "un-expert". I work in broadcasting and I was surprised how much mis-information was presented.
Personally, I found his habits to be an odd mixture of Thurston Howell III and Ed Sullivan

Mr. Wicklander is a really nice guy. He gets a little spacey at times but he doesn't give very many notes and the tests are based strictly on notes, which makes the tests short and sweet. You have to give 4 speeches and he tends to grade hard on the first one but if you improve he will bump up your grade. He doesn't believe in the "number grading system" so he will grade you not by your percents, but by your performance. Overall if you don't mind talking in front of an audience this class is a good pick with a good prof.

Wickdawg is the most funny professor I've ever had. Too bad he's leaving. He covers a lot of information, but he covers it in a manner that can make the class enjoyable. I loved the class.

This class is not difficult if you actually attend. Take good notes, which will be about 2 to 3 pages a day. Start studying for the test about a week ahead of time, because his tests are your notes. Memorize them, and you'll do fine. Extra credit is a breeze and should be done often, because he will bump your grade up if you do them, guaranteed. He did mine.
Overall a quirky guy who knows his stuff. We call him, the walking dictionary.

Mr. Wicklander has a really bad rep on profeval but I think he's highly underrated. He's funny, knowledgeable, and entertaining. I really enjoyed his class and I recommend it to anyone who wants a new outlook on mass media. He gives a lot of notes and expects you to act your age and expand your vocabulary. The extra credit is easy and limitless. You shouldn't fail this class because he curves all the test too.

Dr. Wicklander is a trip. This guy has a sense of humor but it's different. Some of the things he says will have you rolling. He cancelled class quite and bit and never lectured the full amount of time. This class isn't boring because he is such a nut. His tests aren't easy but just stick to the notes and your fine.

Dr. Wicklander has a great personality and is very entertaining. He knows the material he teaches and does a very good job in explaining it. You will most probably only have 3 tests and these tests will make up your grade. The best way to study is to make flash cards with absolutely everything from your notes. You can do as much extra credit as you like in order to bring up your grade.

This is not an easy course but all test material is presented in class so attendance and good notes are key to a good grade. To do well in this course you will have to know your notes very well, because questions can come from anywhere. Extra credit is available, and each of the three tests are weighed differently with the final worth roughly 40% of your grade. Each test is also graded on a curve.

Dr. Wicklander is extremely stale in his humor, but still funny. He makes references to programs and fads that even my parents weren't alive for, but it's still amusing. Attendance isn't mandatory, and neither is the book, but going to class definately helps your grade.

He is really nice and sometimes funny. You have to take this class for broadcasting, so just takt it, suck it up and just get ready to study. I slid by with a C, I could have studied more but I didn't have time and wasn't interested in what was being taught. Just go to class and take plenty of notes that is all you gotta do!! He is a good man and very smart, I enjoyed his class somewhat, he is also understanding of personal problems. Like I said, I got a C, if you are looking for an easy course, don't take him. But it is the class, its boring!

Professor Wicklander may seem like a very strange man- he is. Although he is an introvert, he won't push u away if u have any questions, comments, or concerns. He tries to liven up the class with jokes, but they end up sounding dry and outdated- but he tries. He is very knowledgeable on what he lectures on. He makes u think, and is unbiased in the manner he presents his lectures. I found his tests to be somewhat challenging as a freshman simply for the fact that with his tests either you know it or you don't. Alot of his tests were fill in the blank and short answer, if u don't study and know your stuff, you're screwed. You have to come to every lecture or you miss out. Overall, I liked this class because of Professor Wicklander's professionalism despite of his weird personality. Word to the wise: Never judge a book by its cover.

Attendance helps, or having friends that take notes in class. Don't get the book, you won't need it. Watch his tests, they are all from notes with small details. Overall, he is a knows the subject really really well.

His main format of teaching is lecture, but he is interesting. His tests are difficult because they are fill in the blank, but he writes all possible answers on the board, so if you attend class, you will have all the answers. Plus, he writes the book for the course, so all of the answers are definitely in the book if you read it. He provides lots of opportunities for extra credit at the end of each chapter. The only reason I could see that someone wouldn't like his class is because of the lecture format.

He is very unpersonal. It doesn't seem like he really knows the class is even there, he's just there to do a job. If you take this class be sure to either drink about a pot of coffee before class or be ready to check into rehab after the course for the abuse of caffeine pills
