This guy is crazy but he is really cool. He likes talking about aliens haha. Class is boring but he tries to make it interesting. Best professor for this subject. And his exams are easy if you understand the study guide.

Course was very easy and the professor was a fun, nerdy kind of guy but a great guy really. Class was very easy and interesting. Would take him again if I could. There is extra credit but you really shouldn't have to do it. I got a 98% and i'm a moron. He also does the labs in class with you.

Dr. Scott is the BOMB! There is no reason that you shouldn't make an A in this class because the class before the test he gives you the answers to the questions to the test all you have to do is write them down on the study guide that he provides you! Best thing is that you actually learn stuff along the way and he makes it really interesting! Highly suggest anyone to take him if your needing a lab science class!

Dr. Scott knows what is he is talking about in this class. He is very funny, he'll draw pictures to demonstrate some of Newton's laws. He may seem like a boring professor, but actually he is very smart. He does tell you about some of the past experiences that he has had, and they are really cool! The test are easy and he will go over the study guide the day before the test. Other than that, I would recommend you taking Dr. Scott for Astronomy!

I found this course to be extremely easy. Dr Scott is a very nice guy and very enthusiastic about what he does. He gives a lot of slide shows and likes to draw diagrams during lectures. Taking notes does help, but he gives you several study guides before each test and the information to everything on the study guides can be found in the textbook. He will even give you the slides he uses during class if you go to his office. The tests are purely multiple choice and he also does a review session before the test.

I really like Dr. Scott, he made class fun. He is nice old man that is always making funny little references about aliens eating his chalk etc. I thought the class was easy, and the integrated lab pretty much gave you a free 20% of the grade because you just filled it out as he went over it. His study guides are spot on, and if you can answer the Q's on the study guide you will make a good grade on the test. You can get by without the book if you take good notes, I only rarely looked at it to further understand something that I didn't quite understand enough in class and I wouldn't have gotten the book if I did did it over again. I would highly recommend his class!

Dr. Scott is one of the best, nicest teachers I have had. His lectures are sometimes difficult to follow simply because he does not write everything down, but he is more than willing to help you out if you are struggling. He gives you a study guide about a week before each test and the class before the test you go over the study guide in class. He does not take attendance except for the first few weeks. Extra credit is available by going to the Planetarium to view shows, which are pretty interesting. Sometimes he gives extra credit points in class for simple assignments that the class works on together. He is by far the best, most interesting astronomy teacher. I would recommend him to anyone and everyone.

It's not an easy grade. There is a lab included though. Just go to class, and listen and take notes and you'll be okay. You really don't have to listen to him during the study guide notes if you don't want to because he goes over a review before the test, and pretty much goes over everything. I'm not sure whether I am going to get an A or a B, but overall if you're going to take Astronomy I recommend him. He has a sense of humor, and attendance is not mandatory at all. His tests as long as you study, you'll be okay. I'm not sure how his final is going to be, but I am sure I am going to have to study. Good class, interesting.

The material is all gone over well he even dedicates the day prior to the test to you asking every question on his review if you want! But study, not to hard, just study cause his questions will trick you up sometimes! Oh, he gives a TON of extra credit. and the labs are the easiest thing in the world. Take him.

Dr. Scott is intelligent, and very enthusiastic about astronomy. He does his best to help students out and make you understand. However, there are a lot of notes, and the test is based completely on his lectures. He does give study guides and reviews before each test, but the material is hard. He gives a lot of extra credit opportunities, so if you don't do so well on the tests that will help.

If you aren't good at math and if you don't like science very much do not take this class!!! The professor is nice with a dry sort of humor. Even though he gives you study guides, it doesn't mean thats exactly what is going to be on the test...you have to apply what you have learned and figure stuff out! But he's a nice guy and gives you the opportunity to go to extra credit- you have to go to the planetarium and watch the shows there for like 5 pts added to a test. BORING

Professor Scott is a great! His test are kinda hard though, but multiple choice. He gives you a review sheet for a study guide and goes over it the day before the test. Test questions come from his lecture so it is your best interest to attend class. Some questions come from the book too and he lets you know them as well. There are also labs done with this class. Labs are during class and if you show up you will get an A as long as you turn them in. He also offers a ton of extra credit to help boost up test scores as well. He is a very smart man and makes class interesting and fun. If you want to learn astronomy I would definetly take him.

Even though I didn't make the greatest grade, this was a great class. Dr. Scott is really fun teacher. He has a diagram for everything. Class is an option to go to though it would be in your best interest for the test. He pulls some silly things you remember from lectures and throws them in there. Whether it be about an elephant and a mouse or some other odd example, you never know. I definitely recommend Dr. Scott for astronomy. He's the best!

Dr. Scott knows his material very well and has a very humorous way of teaching things. He offers a TON of extra credit such as attending programs that he puts on at the planetarium. He gives a review sheet and goes over all the questions the day before the test so you know what will be on it. Even if you don't do well on the test, there is so much extra credit to make up for it. Tests are hard if you don't pay attention in class. I averaged low B's on the tests, but took advantage of the extra credit (he gives 20-30 points) and ended up with an A. Be sure to attend all lab classes. These are a VERY easy way to boost your grade. Also, he drops the lowest test and lab grade. He's very helpful if you need to miss class, etc. Also, he can be humorous at times too. Easy Gen. Ed. class.

Dr. Scott is awesome!!! I had so much fun in his class. It's a lab course and you do all but one of the labs in class. You do all the labs together, so there is no reason you should make anything but a perfect grade on them. (Attendance isn't required, but labs are unannounced and if you miss them you cannot make them up, unless you speak with Dr. Scott about it before you miss the class.) The final is partially comprehensive. He gives you all your old exams back to study, because he chooses 25 questions from them and puts them on the final. There were about 50 questions on each exam. I've heard there are some horrible astronomy profs at WKU, Dr. Scott is definitely not one of them. Do yourself a favor, take Dr. Scott for an EASY Science w/lab credit!

Dr. Scott is, by far, one of the worst teachers I have had while at Western. While he does know his stuff, he does not interact with students at all. He seems almost afraid to talk with them. He says that he welcomes questions on the material, but he seems to not want to call on a student to ask what they want. Also, he has a problem with keeping discipline in his classroom. Students are being loud and obnoxious but are ignored so that lecture may continue. It makes it hard for students to pay attention to the lecture. Too much time is spent on slides and board drawings and not enough on really individualizing the material. It seems as if he has taught this class so much that he could do it in his sleep. He is a nice man, don't get me wrong, but he needs to focus more on one-on-one interaction and personalization. Another bad thing is that he talks during tests and in-class assignments.

He is easy to deal with but it can get boring. If you are just needing an easy science class or one with a lab then I suggest this one. All labs are done during class when he pratically tells you what answers to put. I hate science classes but this one was interesting at times and can be an easy
