Dr. Crawford is a great professor and the class is fairly interesting, however, it is definitely not easy. At the beginning of every class we had a 5-10 point clicker quiz over the lecture from the previous class. Quiz questions are all fairly easy if you pay attention in class and although they're annoying, they actually help boost your grade. Tests are very difficult and questions come in a variety of formats. If you take good notes, pay attention in class, and study hard you should do decently well. Oh and watch out for charts you see on powerpoints, he tends to use them as test questions.
Only complaint is the final. Maybe the hardest exam I have ever taken. Overall, lots of studying involved, but an enjoyable class nonetheless

This course is actually taught by two professors. Dr. Gibbs a professional pathologist who teaches the lecture and Crawford who handles most of the lab. Dr. Gibbs is a nice older guy who often looses focus and really bores the lecture section. No one goes to lecture because the exams for lecture are made by Dr. Crawford who gets his materials from some other place so lecture attendance is a waste. READ the book and study diagrams for lecture exams. The powerpoints are a waste and dont really have exam info on them. Lecture exams are combination short answer essay and some very tricky multiple choice that Crawford pulls from some hidden place as well as drawing diagrams. The lab isnt bad sometimes its a little slow and both professors are very helpful. You have a quiz about every week and a midterm and final in the lab. All these lab quizzes and exams are done via powerpoint projection..and lab is 40% of your grade...lecture is 60%. In synopsis Gibbs is really nice and a pleasure, Crawford thinks he is god and needs a punch in the face.

Dr. Crawford is a great teacher and has an awesome sense of humor. Although he doesn't technically take attendance, he gives 5 point clicker quizzes at the beginning of every class. If you attend most of the classes and do reasonably well on the quizzes, you get extra credit because he gives more than 100 points worth of quizzes over the semester. There's also a seminar you can attend to get more extra credit if you need it.
The secret to doing well on the exams is to find the recent old exams. He will give you practice ones from 10+ years ago and they're ok, but the exams he gives are EXACTLY like the more recent old exams, which are out there if you ask around. If you can get a hold of these and study them there's absolutely no excuse not to make high A's on his exams. By the end of the semester, I basically only had to make a high F on the final to keep my A in this class.
Useful class, great professor, highly recommended.

This was a pretty good class. I learned a lot in it. Dr. Crawford enjoys teaching, so his lectures aren't bad. Some days are more interesting than others, but I guess that is to be expected. He gives a 5 point quiz with clickers every day, but he only counts a certain number of them. So if you miss some classes, it doesn't hurt your grade. But if you attend most of the lectures, you can get extra credit from them. He also let us get 20 points extra credit by attending a lecture at South Campus. The exams were pretty difficult, but if you study for them you can do well. There were 4 or 5 homework assignments throughout the semester. Most of them took less than 30 minutes to complete, and they were primarily centered around helping students understand specific concepts that were going to be on the exam. Between the extra credit and the quiz grades, I was able to bring my grade up from a B to an A, so I would definitely recommend taking this class.

TAKE THIS IF U ARE A BIOLOGY OR PRE-PROFESSIONAL MAJOR! Dr. Crawford is really good! he is on the pre-professional board and can tell u about anything u want to know that is science or medical related. it is an easy course. the only way you wont make an A is if u dont come to class or if u dont do the research paper (which is only like a page long....super easy!) Take this!

This lab is really different from any other lab I've ever had. It is really laid back and easy. You have a few quizzes are fairly easy if you do the lab. There are two presentations and two scientific papers. You have to give a data and an informative presentation. They are really nothing to get worked up about. The first paper you get to write a rough draft and turn it in and he tells you what to change. We were supposed to write another paper but our class didn't have enough time to do it.
I wouldn't take this lab if you don't have to. It isn't required and if you are an animal lover you will hate it. Some of the things we did in there seemed more cruel than valuable. Don't get me wrong they are really cool, but you will end up killing animals in this lab.
Every time in this lab I would ask the question why did I take this lab. If you don't really need this lab I would take something else. It is kind of a waste of time when you don't need it in the first place.

This class is really kind of boring. The things you learn about are interesting but it feels like days go by while your in class. Dr. Crawford teaches from power point but the slides are just graphs, pictures and more graphs... He talks, you write, and Riley Jones asks questions that have nothing to do with anything.
Our class was taught by two profs. Dr. Kimwelle who was horrible and Dr. Crawford. You could not understand Dr. K. Half the people slept and the other half passed notes during the class.
I thought this class was horrible when I was in it, but looking back it is not that bad. The only way to get an A in this class is to have old exams. I didn't believe that, but studied both for the first exam and I'm glad I had old exams. Be careful if you the only thing you do is study old exams because he changes the wording and answers slightly but enough to make you miss points. The final was half new material and half cumulative. The cumulative part was fairly simple, but the new part was all case study questions. This was really difficult because the problems are quite complex and then for a mutliple choice question you have choices A to G.
The book is not needed except for reference. I wouldn't even buy it if you can help it.

This class was very interesting, but fairly hard. The tests are strictly...here's a situation, now solve it...type of things. No straight memorize and recite. The final was outrageous, he told us there would be 3 questions from a UofL Med School exam. Get copies of exams from previous years and you'll be fine, but be sure to study them.

Dr. Crawford is a very nice man, but his tests are very hard if you don't get copies of the old ones... and he will not help you out much.. what you make is what you get!

This class isn't exactly easy. It pays to go to class and to read and study the book and notes...hard. Dr. Crawford is an excellent teacher and has a good sense of humor. Just don't expect too much ease here.

Dr. Crawford is the man! He presented a lot of material, but in an understandable way, breaking down concepts into what they consisted of. He also used examples of real-life applications (e.g., the effects of alcohol on kidney function) that made the material interesting. Plus, once you get to know him, he is a nice guy and will help you as he can.

Dr. Crawford is a really nice guy, and he makes this class easy - it could really be hard if the right prof was teaching it.
When I first met Dr. C. I didn't think I liked him, but he's really nice once he sees you a couple of times. Also, he doesn't seem to show any kind of favoritism at all.
