OMG!! This class kicked my butt, hardcore. I'm taking it during the June term this summer, and she's treating it like a regular semester course. What I mean by that is, we have a homework packet due every three days or so, homework that she would normally assign a week for. Also, we have a quiz over half a chapter every three days or so, meaning that every six class periods, we take a chapter test. The worst part is that most of the time, we'll have a quiz and homework due one day, then the very next day we'll have the chapter test. You think you're doing the work right, then you take the test, THEN you get back the grades from the stuff you turned in. This leaves little room for reinforcement, and a LOT of room for really crappy test grades. Also, reguardless of whether or not you get the answer right, if your work is wrong anywhere, she'll take off points. I'm talkin tiny stuff, like if you forget a parenthesis, or comma, or any other clerical error...SYNTAX NAZI!
Let it be said that all this describes the 116E class, the one for people who either didn't pass 116 the first time, or who don't think they can keep up in the regular 116 class.
It's not that I don't think she's a good teacher, because I do actually learn in her class, but she just needs to realize that not everyone is a math whiz, and that it's important to allow students to know whether they're doing something right before you test them on it, especially in this area.
Off I go to study for my Chapter test tomorrow (the second quiz on this chapter was today, the homework's due tomorrow)

I think she is a good techer. She was always really helpful and pretty lenient on me when I turned in my homeowrk late. Her final is killer, but you cover alot of material in a very short time so it is gonna be. You take alot of notes, but most of her homework and test question come directly from them.

This woman is CRAZY! You go through a chapter a day, a quiz a week, and a test every 2 weeks. You are guaranteed to take at least 4 pages of notes per day if you want to understand anything. No reviews EVER! If you need help or you have questions the only answer or help you will get is "Go to the Math Lab!"
Quizes are done in groups but you will stay 30 mins after class is over to finish them. The tests never have questions on them that you have done in class. Modifies test questions just to throw you off then she will sit at her desk and laugh as she watches you struggle.
The kinda teacher that would fail you if you had a 59.999.... If you are even considering this teacher for any subject please look for another teacher. Pulling of your fingernails with pliers would be a day in Disneyworld compared to a semester in this class.

Mrs. Law is cool out of class. If you have a question, she is more often than not willing to help you. But her homeworks and tests are ridiculous. She docks points for everything, and then the tests are so long that I only got done with one the entire semester. Being a highschool salutitorian, this was my first "B" ever!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Trust me, take someone else.............

Ms. Law moves extremely fast and assigns packets that are RIDICULOUS. They are all the even numbers from the book so you have to referr to the teacher's solution manual, which is available in the math lab. By the way, they will know you on a first-name basis in the math lab if you take this class! I wouldn't recommend if you don't have a pretty good background of algebra/trig.

I hated this woman. If you are one of those losers who came to college hoping it would be just like high school where the teacher gave assigned seats and took atendenve and made you do you homework till the end of the "period" when she finishd early, then take her. But if you came to college because you hated highschool, or are just ready to move on then don't take her. She is the worst teacher i have ever had in college. Her notes are overkill and her homework has to be done her way or it will be wrong, even if you get it right. And you have to show evey step, even the ones you learned in the first grade. BOYCOTT MARO LAW!!!!!

A lot of people think this teacher's homeworks are crazy, but without these, I wouldn't have passed this class with an A. A lot of people also haven't learned to take great advantage of the math lab and should. Ms. Law explains the material simply and if you attend class, you should have no trouble. Her tests are sometimes hard but if you have done the homework problems, you shouldn't have too much trouble. If you have any questions or do not understand something, she will take time to explain it to you. Her homeworks consist of 12-13 pages for like 1-2 weeks with lots of problems like the ones that will be on her tests. I learned a lot from this teacher and would take her again. I recommend her if you like math, attend class, and enjoy doing work with an understanding of the material.

DO NOT take this class unless you're sure that you will never need any help from the teacher because with Margo, that's not going to happen. She is one of those teachers that doesn't give a shit if you pass or fail and she doesn't try to hide it. If you do have to take her, she requires you to buy a book, but you don't need it. The only thing she uses the book for is examples and she writes them all on the board. Also fyi, she gives large homework packets over each section and every problem comes from the even problems in the book (the book only has the answers to odd problems in the back).

Then sometimes we will have a quiz and then the next day we have a test. I found this class to be too much and I used to like math before I came to Western!!

She is very dry and has no sense of humor. If your not good in math do not take her. The grades basically come from homework packets that she gives out to do on the chapters, and then the tests. She doesn't really explain things very well, and she moves quickly through the chapters.

She keeps you the entire time to the minute, and her work is straight out of the book. Not an entertaining class what so ever. I would not recommend this teacher if you are not good in math all ready, or if it has been a while since you have taken any, because the review is short and quick.

This is a very easy class. She gives a few homework assignment packets of problems for you to work on for a week or two at a time. She is a very boring person and you can tell she probably has no life outside of Math, what with her math team t-shirts, and elementry teacher style clothing. She does explain all the work in class, but don't ask her a question on something unless you want her to look it up before she answers you. I've found if you turn in the work on time and briefly study for tests, you'll do fine. I don't care how many other people give Law a red face icon, its an easy A course.

Margo Law is a horrible teacher. Let me stress that Margo Law is a horrible teacher. I took this class during the summer with some friends. In class she gives numerous notes which is understandable because this is math. My friends and I studied in small groups while doing homework and preparing for test/quizes. Margo Law's grading system sucks because all of the points are just added together. She says that she will help you, NOT REALLY. 90% of the students in the summer session class received a D or below. So now we are all retaking math 100, which really sucks.

This class is extremely difficult and time consuming. If you are taking very many hours at all I highly recommend you get out of this class. It's very challenging but not impossible. Ms. Law has no other life but math. It's like she enjoys seeing everyone do bad. You will get a math packet about once a week that is 12-15 pages long...it's almost every even problem in the book. Each one of these packets will be worth approx. 200-300 pts. You have to make sure that you complete the entire packet to get most of your points. If you go to the math lab or Ms. Law's office she will help you with the ones you don't understand. Before each test, Ms. Law makes up a practice test which you can't concentrate on because you have other homework packets to finish. But, if you are able to find time to work on it, it's helpful. The tests take forever to take, and they are hard. It will take a full 2 hrs for each test if you are trying to make an A. They are usually around 120 pts a piece. With my class, she took the average of the tests, an average of the homeworks, and averaged those to grades together (using total pts). I did hear that she may let the homework be worth more in future semesters....if she does this it will help tremendously. She did, though, at the end of the semester let us correct our tests and give us back some pts because everyone had done so bad on them...this really helped a lot. This class definately was my hardest one yet...not only because of the teacher, but because of the tremendous amount of material that has to be covered. The biggest problem I saw was that Ms. Law didn't concentrate on any basic concepts. She expects you to be able to learn EVERYTHING really well...which can't happen in such a short time period. If she would have emphasized the more important things and concentrated more on them, it would have been much better. I think any other 119 class that is offered would be better than this one. Although, if you have had calculus in high school, it might be okay as long as you don't mind spending many hours working on homework. Don't buy the book -- you won't use it and she gives you all the notes.

No quiz(Thank God !!!). 4 tests ( around 35-40 problems). The only thing I like is that she have a practice test ( hurrayyyy!!!!). This class is time-consuming, hard and overkill with notes (her notes are far more confusing than the guideline in the book ). If you have to work part-time or carry over 4 classes then consider dropping this class at the beginning.

She does grade really really really hard on homework and it is worth over half of your final grade. If your willing to put time into this class which you should since your going to be a teacher you will do fine. Everyone in my class said this is their second or third time to take this class so be prepared to study. She gives you hours of homework but it is worth it. This class will take time. I promise you at least 2-3 hours a night of homework.
Here is the deal.
First you have homework (45-50 problems a packet) Yes they are hard and yes they take lots of time. Due in about a week.
Second you have quizzes (45-60 problems) Yes they are even harder than the above. They are all word problems. They will take hours to do. Not an exaggeration; completion will be about 10 hours time.
Third you have tests (10 problems or so) They take the whole period but she lets you stay after class. They are HARD! they have wordproblems etc on them that make you wanna cry but they are do-able.
Fourth you have final. Its cumulative and takes about 1 1/2 hrs. Yep, again its hard.
Ms. Law is supersmart, will help you out of class and you can learn a lot from her.
But, she goes fast, very very fast. I did not understand the class during the class becuase i was too busy writing the notes. 5 pages a day. Be very organized!! that helps.
most importantly DO NOT PROCRASTINATE!!!!!!!!!!!!! If you fall down in the class its hard to get up.
secondly. make friends who will go with you to the math lab and work on problems together. ok. let me say it again MAKE FRIENDS WORK TOGETHER she wants you to do that, expects it.
split the homework/quizzes up. do parts and copy eachother it goes faster and you have more time to study.
inhale - exhale - pray - inhale - exhale - pray - go to her office and bug her
