This guy loves to talk. He loves providing real life situations which I think made the concepts easier to follow. I am pretty sure that he only offers night classes because he travels a lot. Probably the best part about the course is that he doesn't make you study graphs. He uses them in class but they are only used to help you understand. They are never on the tests. Attendance is not mandatory because he wants to illustrate the concept of opportunity cost. But I would recommend going. He doesn't cover half of what is in the book, so you have to go to really know what is going to be on the test.
When he talks he talks fast, but he is really a funny guy and its not that hard to follow. Overall it was a relaxed atmosphere, and I didn't mind going. The tests were passable if you put in a couple hours of studying the day of the test. They are made up of multiple choice and short answer. I would recommend this class to anyone as long as you are willing to go to the class.

Reed Vesey makes class very interesting and enjoyable!!! Sometimes he rambles but his class is very easy to follow along with! I loved this class and he makes economics an understandable subject. He is very enthusiastic, and easy to get along with. NOT HARD TO PASS THIS CLASS!

If you want to do well in this class you must be a good test taker. There are only 3 tests. That is your grade, 3 tests. No homework, no take home tests, no classowrk, nothing but tests. Absolutely no extra credit, don't even ask. He is arrogant and loves to hear himself talk. He thinks he's funny. He will spew his study abroad for one class period also. There were many in the class that said "when I get out of this class I won't know a thing about economics". He just talks on and on and you just don't know what notes are pertinent. Now, if you are a good test taker and don't like homework and classwork, then he is your man. You don't even have to attend class, just buy the book and read it. You might actually do better that way. I know for a fact there were very few A's in his class.

I think that he is by far the worst professor that I have ever had on this campus! He rambles on and gives like 45 minute examples and he never shuts up! He is very full of himself and really enjoys hearing himself talk! He is willing in NO WAY at all to help you out at all. We have 3 grades in the class, 3 tests, thats it! He says that extra credit is "fools gold".
If you can take another class or professor, DO IT! You will dread coming to this class every time!
He also likes to reword test question to confuse you, which it works!
HE IS HORRIBLE!!!

Professor Vesey is a poor teacher and his test questions do not reflect how well you know the material. He is not understand when you have problems that are unavoidable and won't help you out on a single test. I made all A's on my tests except for one and I obtained a B in the course.

The textbook, technically, is required. However, if you're one of the lucky few notetakers that can pull out all kinds of information from a sometimes-over the place lecture, then you won't need it (I didn't). One piece of advice: Make sure you know when your test days are. I learned this the hard way. Reed's both an NHL and NFL fan, so if you like either sport, there's something. He DOES travel fairly frequently, so he probably will at least miss one week per semester minimum. Lectures were informative and VERY entertaining - and usually got the point across, and I'd recommend him to anyone having to take 150 (or 202/203)

Vesey is just okay. He is a Yankee for one, and has the northern accent to prove it. It can get kinda annoying. However, he is laid back about his class. He doesn't care if you come in late or leave early, just don't be loud. Classes are usually somewhat short, but seem longer b/c he'll sit in class and quiz his students about music from the 80's and stuff. He is funny though, I'm just glad it's over. Tests are easy, mostly definitions, and what he thinks is important, he'll just re-word the question over and over again and keep asking it, so pay attention. good luck

Good teacher, HORRIBLE advisor. I didn't buy the book, but it is very helpful. I had a night class, one night a week and it wasn't bad, we got out early A LOT. I said essay is involved, it's short answer. He likes what he does and teaches it well. Notes are hard to take, he talks fast and doesn't really use the board. Mostly study vocab. from the book and the charts.

He isn't a bad teacher. He's kinda a goofy guy who is stuck in the 80's, but he'll make you laugh from time to time. Study for a few hours the night before his exams and you should do fine.

Reed Vesey is the reason I get up and go to Economics. He is an exelent teacher. His test are pretty simple and straight foward, but on the same note you learn somthing. Reed makes class fun and interesting. Reed also travels a lot so that means class is cancelled very often. I would definately take Reed for Econ.

Be ready for a very boring class. He gives these definitions that are a mile long, and he simplifies nothing. I stayed lost about 90% of the time. Very poor waste of my hard earned money! I guess there are worse instructors out there though. I have just yet to find any.

The homework assignments (few) are fairly easy and are done through his webpage; you email him your assignment. Exams are pretty easy, just study your notes (few). My biggest complaint: he seems to go really slow sometimes, making class boring.
