This class was the most difficult class that I have ever taken. I thought he was actually pretty funny. There are TONS of notes(powerpoint printouts not written notes). He gave 3 tests. Thats it! No homework or quiz. On average I had to study about 500 pages of notes for each test! It was a killer! i never even opened my book. In class all he does is read from the notes-really hard to stay awake lots of times. I waited until the week before to cram for the test and had to study for about 4 days straight but I got an A. It is possible. Students were just lazy and comlained a lot-its not his fault that students dont put forth effort.

Dr. Steenbergen is a class A guy. The class is extremely difficult because there is so much to cover in 15 weeks. I missed quite a few classes, didn't give a great effort to paying attention, and took very few notes, but still I came out with a high C. If you are willing to come to class and put the time, you CAN make an A in this class. If a grade is borderline at the end, he has been known to bump it up to help your GPA. A great guy who knows his stuff and just wants kids to succeed. Take Steenbergen if you can, if not I heard Mason is good on the main campus.

I really enjoyed Dr. Steenbergen's class, even though it was by far the most difficult class I've ever taken. I busted my butt for the grade I got. It's not impossible, I managed to keep my other grades up, spend time with a serious boyfriend and worked part time, and still managed an A. But I was about to pull my hair out and everyone else's too.

This class is a joke if you take him! It seems like more than half of the material he said that would be on the test wasn't and everything he said not to worry about showed up on the tests. Our class averages on every test were F's!!! He makes this class more difficult than it should be. He also mumbles on and on about stuff that doesn't even matter. This is the worst class I have ever had because of how he teaches. He has no enthusiasm and really seems like he doesn't care. I highly recommend that you take Biggers if you want to make a good grade!!!!

Dr. Steenbergen is very hard, but you learn, you have no choice. This class takes about 40 hours of studying a week. He is a very nice man and is very interesting. You have to wok. I worked my butt off for my B, but I learned a lot. If you want an easier instructor, take someone else, but if you want to learn the material and retain it, take Mr. Steenbergen.

i am here to correct the other ratings you have seen the people that rated him befor were crap students. if you can still do badly after a 50 point curve you don't belong in college. you should not take his class for an easy credit because it is not. but if you want to learn things that will help you in your nursing career i would recomend him

Dr. Steenbergen made this class alot harder than it needed to be, in my opinion. The lab portion was easy enough, straight memorization of the anatomy of whatever system we were studying. However, the lecture portion of the class was devoted to physiology and his tests and quizes could cover some really obscure subject matter. However, on his blackboard page, he did post some practice tests. The questions on these practice tests invariably showed up on the actual exam, in mutiple choice format, with maybe a few of the answers switched. So if you read your chapters, answered the questions on the practice exams and study study study you can do well. It takes alot of effort, alot of studying, alot of reading as the book can deal with some pretty complex material which often required reading more than once. Dr. Steenbergen does grade on a curve however, so if you made say a 75 on the exam, your curved grade would be somewhere in the A range, since most people in the class would score well below 75 on their exam. Bottom line, don't take Steenbergen if you can take Biggers or Mason, but if you do end up with him, its not impossible to do well in the class, just takes alot of work.

Dr. Steenbergen was a poor excuse for a teacher when it came to this subject. He didn't follow his outline. His test were from something other than his notes or the book????? When the majority of the class fails and curves are 40 to 50 points based on one student who has been a nurse for 17 years and only comes to class on the day of test something is wrong. Don't waste your time with this guy take Biggers! At least you will have an Idea of what he is talking about.
