I took this class May term (summer class) so we had to jam an entire semester into 3 weeks. We would just have lecture Monday-Thursday and then a test on Friday. There were only two tests and they are pure essay. He gives you a list of questions and you choose two to write on. On the last Friday, you have to turn in a 1,200 word essay that's typed. You have the choices of questions to write on from the beginning of class so you can know what to write on. All the lectures are over controversial issues such as abortion, euthanasia, stem-cell research, etc. He basically gets you to think intuitively and analyze your opinions on the different issues. He's pretty interesting and stays neutral, so you don't have to worry about getting offended.

All of the previous evals of this teacher are correct to a point.
The class is relatively easy and Dr. Thompson can be funny. You can print out the notes online, and he does not grade difficultly. However, Dr. Thompson is very biased in his views, and his views are liberal and anti-Christian. I dreaded going to his class at times. There were some good days and subjects that were interesting, but if a prof is going to discuss the existence of God I at least want fairness.

I slept everyday in this class because it was so boring. There are no tests in this class except the final. All you have to do is write 8 really short essays (like half a page long) and one long essay. You dont have to pay attention in class until after spring break because after that then the material for the final will be discussed. If you want my opinion take music, art, or theator. I promise it would be more entertaining.

Dr. Hamish is one great professor if you aren't afraid to discuss and evaluate your belief system. He chalanges God and you must have an open mind. He bounces around the classroom. it is halarious. he is a great teacher, and if you can write he class will be a sinch.

This was a very entertaining class. Hamish is always in a bubbly mood and very passionate about what he teaches. There are 7 short essays you have to write throughout the semester and one test which is the final. The essays are not difficult at all and you can use your notes and the book for the final. I would highly recommend taking him for this class...just take him on M/W/F because sometimes those hour long lectures can put you to sleep.

I called this class a train wreck...simply because your mind goes round and round in circles. It is not an easy class but an interesting class. He uses overhead lecture, and you have to write a lot of short papers. You have only one test the entire semester...the final and it is complete essay. This class is not for someone looking for an easy class.

He is a very energetic teacher who obviously loves what he is doing. He takes a great deal of interest in his student's opinions. You have 7 short essays to write during the semester and one final in which you can use any notes you have and the book. I learned a lot from this course. The only thing I would suggest is that you take it M/W/F because some of his lectures get lengthy. Enjoy!

The only test in the class was the final and it was all essay but you could use your book. There were other short essays and one long essay that compromised the rest of your grade. Overall it was a pretty easy class, it was mostly just your opinion.
