Additional Comments |
Dr. Spurlock has some good and some bad about his class.
The plus side: For English it is pretty easy. There are three tests that are weighed the same. These are 90% of your grade. The tests are essays that are easy to write if you come to class. He tells you what will be on the tests. The other 10% is from short story quizzes and poetry checklists. The short story section had some interesting stories, and the drama section was easy. Dr. Spurlock can be interesting in his lectures about Faulkner conferences and the sections of the class. The discussion groups for the short story and poetry can help you get your bearings if you don't understand. The bad: Dr. Spurlock tells strange jokes and curses often. Some days it was really bad. He seemed to relish reading these words from the drama section. He is also kind of weird. The poetry section was harder and wouldn't leave you appreciating it. The extra credit was reading drama sections that were also cussy. I picked a section I thought was clean that wasn't and left me ashamed. Bottom line: easy but might want to avoid or at least take cotton for the ears.
