Prof. Kessler had the students teach the course for him. Problem Based Learning is his style. I didn't want to teach myself this difficult course, so I withdrew.

I hated this class. I took it as an online course. Dr.Kessler makes a very good use of blackboard and has online lectures for each section plus power point notes and your textbook is all in pdf format on blackboard. SO the positive is you don't have to buy a textbook and you work on it whenever you want. The negative is the class content is terrible. He's all about trying to find "cool" things to do in trigonometry but they end up being more lame and tiresome than anything. If Trig is the last class you'll ever take, you may like it. If I wasn't worried about taking calculus next semester I might have enjoyed it. However, if you're thinking about moving on to calculus and upwards, take a more traditional trig class. Kessler had problems like the "tricked-out truck" and the "spirograph" .... I mean seriously, I don't care.

Kessler's a good professor, overall. Note taking is optional, as the man posts all his notes online for you to print off. He seems to care a lot about the students and whether they pass or not. I'd reccomend him to people who aren't especially good at math.

Dr. Kessler is a wonderful teacher. Be prepared to work. He is always willing to help. The tests are fairly predictable, and if you know your stuff, they are no problem.

Dr. Kessler,
I am sure he wants you to get it and spends time with monitored support students but does not go slow in class. If you are not a person that can get it with one quick run then I would say you should not take this guy. He has notes on the web and puts them on the board and explains what the notes say but does little to make sure you understand. Talks down to you by saying is this "ok stuff ?". If you ask a question then he will stop and answer the question but will spend little time to ensure that you get it. He will tell you to go to the math lab. The home work that you are supposed to do is some times more than what was discussed in class, so you don't know what to do when you look at it. So you spend lots of time in the math lab trying to figure out what he said in class.
He gives quizes every week from the home work and it hurts those who do not understand the work. If you did not do the home work you will find your self on monitored support very quickly.
You much meet the prof. each week and if you do not and mis 2 days you will receive a failing grade.
The pace is much too quick for someone that is not good at math, but he will tell you this course was designed for Liberal Arts students don't beleive it.

Kessler doesn't make you take any notes. He has them already made out for you at his website. You just print out his notes and then he follows them pt by pt. You dont worry about writing, because he has everything written down for you. Homework is not graded. It is optional/practice for you. He reviews problems the next day at the start of class, if you didn't understand one. Furthermore, he assigns problems so that you can find the answer in the back of the book and know if you did the problem right. The guy WANTS you to get it. He's definitely a high quality teacher. Taking a math course you need and can get with him is a wise thing.

Dr. Kessler is an exceptional professor. He is brilliant and also expects alot from his students. You will have homework assignments to turn in about once a week. You will also have Mathmatica assignments to complete and turn in. If you want to learn alot I recomend him. If you just want to show up and get an ok grade.... find another professor. Learning alot comes with a lot of work

Dr Kessler is an awesome professor. He explains the material well and doesn't overbear students with lengthy homework assignments. I had never taken calculus before this class and had no problems with the tests or homework. I would recommend taking him for any math class.

His test are cummlative and he doesn't accept just the answer plus you have to show all your work (it has to be the way he showed you) to get full credit
