I LOVED HER!! i don't know why people say such bad things about her! She is a GREAT TEACHER!! She's a tad sarcastic but I thought it was funny. She tells you EXACTLY what's on the test multiple times, just take notes and study.. if you get A's, you don't have to take the final. i got an A in this class and thought it was the easiest class of my semester. The tests are FILL IN THE BLANK though and spelling does count! also, if you like to skip class a lot, do not take lubbers.. She doesn't put up with a slacker!

Lubber isn't as bad is she as cracked up to be. I had her my very first semester at western. She is VERY blunt and will tell you exactly how she feels. But if you go to class and take the notes and study it is cake. She offers 10 things over the semester worth one point each for extra credit that add on to your FINAL grade. So if you average an 80 when the class is over and you do ALL 10 points you will have a 90 which is great. She isn't the nicest person you will meet but her class isn't that hard.

I might just be adding to the pot of bad comments, but what you read is true: she is satan, she is a horrible teacher, and her notes and tests suck. I showed up everyday for class (8 am keep in mind), and she still reported me as absent on my 5th week freshman assesment report. If you plan on taking her, or are currently taking her, pay the 50 dollars to drop it and take it again with another teacher...dont waste your time like i did to get an F in ART APPRICIATION

Through out the whole semester when I was in this woman's class a lot of students struggled because this woman doesn't give organized notes to students. She does slides off of a projector that's really not helpful at all.Half of the slides arn't in the book you have to look them up online in order to keep up with what she's talking about. Extra credit is provided but it's so rediculous to the point that there's no point in doing it unless you know for sure that what you have is correct or you will not get credit at all. If I were to rate her on a scale of 1-10 she's between 1 and 3.

Miss lubber is freaking crazy. she is a very weird teacher and she teaches badly. She gives you alot of notes. so alot of notes you think okay memorize the notes for the FILL IN THE BLANK 50 question TEST!!! shouldnt be too bad if you can memorize no! i can memorize things fine and i always got 60s and below on my test. This is the first WKU class i have failed. When i tryied to talk to her she was not understanding. This class was way to hard for a 100 level class. Do not take her it will be a waste of time to take another art class in the next semester after you fail hers. Trust me find another teacher.

what every poor evaluation of this teacher says, is 100% true. she's an old hag who lives alone with her cats.
I am an Art MAJOR for christ sake, and got a C. barely sliding by a D. and she makes you buy these 90$ books and then says to look everything up on the internet. her notes are impossible to understand, she wont repeat anything, she doesn't go over the art in chronlogical order, and she writes on the damn black boards all the time, IN THE DARK! so no one can possibly read them. and she won't ever spell an artists name. so the loads of notes you'll take, will not help at all. if you're not smart enough to GET OUT while you can, good luck!

It's easy if you can memorize everything she tells you is going to be on the test, and everything she tells you will be on the test. You really only need to go to class the day before the test because she goes over everything alot. But to do well, you HAVE to memorize everything. And take something to work on, because it can be boring, she rambles alot.

Ms. Lubbers is not a bad professor at all. The only tough thing about this class is the attention to detail. You have to write down exactly what she says. If you don't write it the way she wants on the test you don't get credit. Other than that the class is really easy. She doesn't give you a whole lot of pieces to study for each test and she goes over them several times. I think most people gave her a bad eval because she comes off kind of grumpy and sarcastic to some people. You really can't blame her for having to deal with 50 freshmen in a classroom. Overall this class was pretty easy. I could've got an "A" if I would have taken better notes. Also, she does give extra credit and it's worth it to put in the effort to find the answers.

This class may seem a bit intimidating at first, but it turned out to be really fun. There is a lot of work involved, and be prepared to spend some time working outside of class to keep from falling behind. You're allowed to work at your own pace, which is good because there are no official deadlines. This can also bad because you are responsible for finishing all four of the projects by the end of the semester and if you get behind it takes a lot of work to catch back up.
All in all, it was a fun and interesting class. I highly reccomend taking it.

DO NOT TAKE LUBBERS! Her exams would have been pretty easy except for the fact that there were always questions over things not covered in class or that you were told to read about. That aside, she is generally vague about what she expects you to study on exams or quizzes and provides no study guides. So, if you happen to miss some TINY detail while taking notes, rest assured she will include it on an exam.

Ms. Lubbers has to be one of the most unfriendly teachers at western that I have ever had and I have been a student here for 4 Yrs. She will yell at you and make you feel quite dumb. She is not flexible and willing to help students with any extra assistance that they may need. If you are fortunate enough to get extra help from her she will make you feel dumb about not knowing the info. I felt that her test were way to difficult for a 100 level class and even for a 300 level class, the tests would have been rediculous. I would always attend class and come test time there would be soooo much information that there is no way one could possibly learn and memorize it all in the time given. Lubbers is cranky most of the time, but she has her good days. The reason I marked this class as good is because the test are easy, if you study!!!! And you need to be at class to pass- its a visual class. You watch videos, look at paintings, and do these little question short answer things, and you only do 10 of them. You could probably miss class on the video days if you have a friend that will let you see their answers to these little sheets she gives you to fill out during the video.

This class was one of the easiest I've had at WKU. But it does have the potential to be difficult if you don't stay on top of things. Just go to class every day and you should be fine. Its tempting to skip because the whole class is pretty much a series of slides but tough it out because all of it is on the tests. We had 3 tests plus a cumlative final and if you have an A on all 3 then you get out of the final. She also gives extra credit a few times. (Stuff like looking up who a person in the painting was, etc.) I just looked up all the paintings on the internet, made them into a slideshow and quizzed myself. Oh, and you'll never have to know a title so don't even bother studying them!

First, I'd like to say that she is not a very nice lady. She expresses no interest in teaching art at all. She gives a lot of notes but isn't clear on what you need to know. For each slide, you must memorize the artist and the period style, plus maybe a couple of definitions or characteristics. Sound hard? It shouldn't be, but she makes it. She offered us extra credit, and apparently nobody in my class did it the way she wanted it done. She stood up in front of the class and read some of the "stupid" answers that people wrote and LAUGHED AT THEM. A teacher should encourage, not discourage, and thats all I saw from her. Whatever you do DON'T talk or she will embarrass the hell out of you in front of everyone....better yet...just don't take the class, you'll regret it big time.

Run far away, and never look back!!! I know this an 100 level course, but damn. She is extremely moody, and hates kids! I don't know why she even teaches, cause she really sux at it. She'll treat you like you're in high school and makes you think the exam is a breeze. When you get to it, half the questions are stuff she barely went over. You'd think you'd make an A on all the exams, but she wants specific answers, nothing broad. She can't teach, and all you do is look over slides. All the info she gives seems like it's off the wall, and nothing you really ever learned in your school. I would SO NOT recommend this witch.

She is very tough and does not seem to like her job. I would not recommend her. I do not feel as though I appreciate art any more now than I did before her class!

Lubbers's tests are all fill in the blank. For every test you have to memorize 30 different slides. And for like each different slide you have to remember the artist, period style, and like 5 different things for each. But you do not know which slide or what questions she is going to ask. Half the class is tested over half of the slides and the other half is tested on the other half of the slides. But you do not know which slides are going to be on what test!!! You do not have to remember Titles or dates but thats it! and if you miss even one class you have missed like 4 pages of notes. This class was really stressful and way too hard for a 100 level class. I've heard that other teachers that teach Art Appreciation are a little bit easier but DO NOT TAKE LUBBERS!!!!!!

This class is generally boring unless you like art and know what Ms. Lubbers is talking about. You either look at slides the whole class period or you watch a video. There are a lot of notes, but if you study them and don't complain you will be just fine. Ms. Lubbers has a dry sense of humor that can be funny at times, but don't mess with her! If you have an A in the class you don't have to take the final. Test questions are mostly from the notes in class.

Ok stop laughing. It's Art App. and it's should've been a breeze, but this women was evil! All I heard from my friends who took an art app class before was how they go to draw and mold things. From day one Lubbers had us looking at slides and memorizing definations. It was bad. I hated the class-it was boring and tons of people fell asleep in her class. Her final had like 30 questions just over who the artist was, the other half was difficult.

Lubbers is very demanding. If you want to make a good grade in this class, you have to come everyday, and take good notes. You have an opportunity for some extra credit, but the tests are hard because sometimes she askes questions that were vaguely discussed in class. The only advantage in here is that if you have an A, you don't have to take the final.

Professor Lubbers managed to take a great subject (art appreciation) and destroy all of the pleasure in learning about it. Often times her information was incorrect, however to tell her she was incorrect would be to risk ridicule and a possible grade. She is not helpful nor does she appreicate questions in or outside of class. You do not learn or appreciate art in her class, it is all memorization and usless information that she finds worthy, and if you are lucky it may actually be correct information. Her instructions for exam taking vary from class to class. She is very unorganized and confusing to follow. Do not take this class!

I am an art history minor and I have already had other art courses that I have loved. This class is absolutely ridiculous! She is the hardest professor I have ever had in my 3 years in college. She has no respect for her students and she treats us all like kindergarteners. She makes me want to rethink changing my minor!!! I would not recommend her to anyone!!

This woman is the absolute worst professor I have ever had. She makes you feel like the stupidest person in the world if you ask any question, at all. She seem as if she hates students, and like we are the dumbest people to ever walk the earth. If I didn't need this class, I would tell her to stick it up her ***!!!

Lubbers has a rough personality but it's funny at times. Go to class and look at all the boring slides, take notes and try not to piss her off and its an easy A. She gives lots of opportunity for bonus.

I am really at a lost as to why Mrs. Lubbers is teaching. I have never met someone who seems to so throughly hate teaching and people in general. She makes you feel as if you are a waste of her time. Overall, the class was not extremely difficlut-it was straight from the notes. But that doesn't make up for the teaching. AVOID THE CLASS AT ALL COST!!

In this class, you get an overwhelming amount of notes each day. The class is easy if you memorize your notes for a while for the tests. If you dont study or take good notes, you will fail. Mrs. Lubbers herself has a very dry sense of humor that is funny, but she has no sympathy for students, and it seems like she hates the kids. But she is a good teacher.

There are lots of slides and artists to remember. Expect to take at least two pages of notes per day. The instructor can be very moody at times. Class was canceled on several occasions. Several people dropped her class.
