I enjoyed the class material we covered, but Dr. Phelps seemed a little out of sorts when it came to preparing her lectures. I honestly don't know yet what I made in her class because she didn't really give you an update on your grade until the semester was almost over. (Which I apparently missed that day so I don't know what I have yet.) Anyways, the class was interesting, just Dr. Phelps seemed unorganized. Definitely a great class to take though if you are interested in the subject.

I was very dissapointed in this class. I did not learn anything. I found it rather pointless and waste of money. All you have to do is 4 thought papers. She lets the class make up the syllabus. There are a few guest speakers and plenty of opportunities for extra credit. Oh yeah, she is never in her office, during her office hours that was posted on the syllabus. So good luck trying to find her. I wouldn't recomend this class.

She is a scatterbrain. This class is easy. We had 4 papers to do throughout the semester called "thought papers" and basically as long as you did it you got a good grade. She lets you make up your own syllabus....so needless to say, my class voted for no tests, so we had 5 20-question quizzes. She never lectures. Instead, you either watch a movie, or listen to a speaker everday and if you go to class and take notes on the movie/speaker, you get 2 bonus points. Very interesting and easy class.

The course work for this class is cake. But she has no idea how to conduct a classroom. Out of the 30 plus times we met in the semester, she actually lectured material related to the textbook twice, maybe three times. If we weren't watching a movie, we were listening to a guest speaker or a group debate on a current issue topic. I suggest teaming up with someone in class and buying the book together. The only time you will ever look at it is for quizzes. If you don't read the chapters you will fail the quizzes. Basically you teach yourself the material to get the grade you want. And don't ever attempt to find her in her office during office hours. She's never there. She never checks her email either. Of all of my intense classes, she stressed me out the most because of her lack of organization. She would serve more purpose in this world being a test subject in the research lab down the hall.

I absolutely loved this class. We went in the first day and we made the syllabus. We had one research bibliography and with that went a debate. We had to be there for the other debates in class, that was the only mandatory attendance. If you wanted the points for the debate, you had to be there. We had 5/6 quizzes, multiple choice and true/false. We also had 5 "thought" papers. She gave the prompt and you had to use what you learned in class, textbook and put your own opinion into them. If we related it to something in our life or went beyond just what the question was asking she would give an A. The bare minimum for the thought papers earned a C. It's a very interesting class and I would take it again if I could. Attendance is not mandatory, in fact I don't ever think she took attendance. We also had to do a book report about 6 pages and if you wanted extra credit you could give an oral report to the class. I learned so much, it wasn't akward. Take this class.!

Prof. Phelps is amazing! She is incredibly understanding to outside circumstances and makes the class enjoyable. If you come to class some and take a few notes, you'll easily get an A. She even gives you the test questions. There is quite a bit of reading involved and you do have to write about all you read, but nothing in the class is difficult.

This class was a waste of time. Worthless. Katrina Phelps is nice and a great person but not a great professor. She's the "teach yourself by reading the book" type. you could learn more by reading for the hour that your in class instead of giong to class and wasting your time (when she's even there).
Oh! and the reading, WTF? If you're looking to make a great subject like sex dull and boring, this is the class for you. literally, hundreds of pages were assigned per two weeks, until Phelps actually did the assignments herself and realized that it wasn't a graduate level course and backed off.
And from what I could tell, she doesn't even look at what you turn in, her teacher's assistant does all the work.
The stuff she actually goes over in class is blazed through with wreckless abandon.
On the up side, she doesn't act like her class is the most important thing in the world and is willing to work with you on stuff and in very down to earth. She's nice, but the class was a waste of time.

Ms. Phelps is great. She's so nice, always willing to help, and very laid back about the course. We were the first group of students to have this course, so she let us lay it out during the beginning, and make changes as we went along. Attendence isn't required, but the topic is very interesting, so I always went. There's quite a bit of reading to do, and lots of notes to take. But it was a great class. Definately a recommendation.

Dr. Phelps is one of the best Psychology teachers that I've had at WKU. She is very helpful. We had quite a few tests, but she drops the lowest one, so therefore you can drop the final if you wanted. There are several papers to do, but they easy topics. There is a project that you will do and your results will be distributed to the class, but it is nothing to stress about. She is an awesome teacher. Take her whenever you can!

If you want a psy. class that is easy, enjoyable, and beneficial, take Dr. Phelps. She tells you on the first day that you will need to buy the book for the readings. I never bought the book and did just fine. She is very energetic and enjoys teaching. This is not a class that you will fall asleep in ... (with the exception of presentations)

Mrs. Phelps makes this class enjoyable. Attendance is not mandatory, but she makes you want to come to class. The first days, we made up our own syllabus and decided as a class the makeup of the exams. I have made it this whole semester without buying the book and still have an A. As long as you go to class and take some notes, you will do well in her class. Her tests are not meant to trick you.

Attendence really isn't mandatory, but her class is so interesting that i would reccomend that you go. I loved her class so much. I would take it even if you are not a psych. major.

At the beginning I thought the class was really easy because I kept getting good grades, but COMPLETE EVERY ASSIGNMENT or your grade will suffer. Also, she says that there is no attendance, but you spend half the semester giving presentations in groups and getting graded for it - go to these because you get points counted off if not - I don't think she tells you this. Great lady & really enjoyed the class, but don't slack.

First let me stress that I my evaluation is as professional and honest as possible. Dr. Phelps is a wonderful person who will try her best to help out however she can. She has a great personality, is bright and full of life. I am sure that her past classes have all gone very well. However, I just took her class last semester and will report on her newly tried method of teaching. She cut out many lectures so that each student could give a lengthly presentation. Many students did not put much effort into their projects and so many of the presentations were a complete and utter bore. Several people actually slept through them. I didn't learn much from them myself. I wish she would have lectured more because I really wanted to learn about this material but feel that I was somehow cheated out.

She is the best Psych teacher I've ever had. She is very laid back and listens to all suggestions and comments from her students. The quizzes are completely from any notes, which sometimes she would go over every definition that would be on it. She gave us options rather than a set syllabus. She's so nice and really fun.

Dr. Phelps is a really wonderful woman and know what she is talking about. At the beginning of the semester, she let the class lay out the syllabus and basically design the class. The only downside was that she didn't give back graded things until almost the end of the semester and didn't really cover anything in great detail.

This class is great. All we did is sit around and talk. It didn't even seem like class. She took us to an orchard as a field trip and let us watch movies twice, and bought us all dinner both times. Even if you don't want to do the honors program, take this class. Hold off on buying the book though, we only used it twice.

Since we were the honors course, Katrina Phelps wanted us to be her little test gerbils. Instead of making us do assignments out of the textbook. All that she required us to do is do group presentations on the various topics we as a class decided to address. The LME Requirements are a pain, but they're easy to do. This class was a little bit too easy, it started to lose its purpose in the end. We never received a printed syllabus of her course! She just made things up as she went along basically. I appreciated the easyness but it will probably come at a disadvantage to me in the long run.

Dr. Phelps is a great professor, one of the best that I have had in college. She is genuinely interested in her students and their grades. She strives to raise grades with extra credit opportunities galore. She is a dynamic and fun teacher and even though attendance is not mandatory, you will want to go to her class.
