We have not recieved grades yet, but I'm pretty sure I have at the worst a C. I'm hoping for a B. I went to every class, everyday, took notes, studied, except for one test...I was a slacker. This class is not that bad, if you are there, and you study and you work hard. She expects a lot of you, she challenges you. The only thing I didn't like about this class was the infamous paper. Its terrible. You MUST get a move on things as soon as you are assigned the paper! She give you a list of books at the library that are the only ones you can use for the entire assignment. The books cannot leave the library. Plagiarism is a very big issue with her! For the love of all that is holy do not plagiarize!!!

Unless you absolutely LOVE art history do not take this course. It is a lot of busy work and she grades extremely hard. She is a good teacher, but her class requires a lot of work. There is a paper that you have to write that she doesn't give you until the end of the semester. It completely ruined my Thanksgiving break. She specifies 10 books she wants you to use and reserves them in the library. You CANNOT check them out and their are 60 other people trying to use them at the same time. You can't use any other sources. If you choose not to write this paper you will fail her course. If you are taking this course be prepared to memorize her notes word for word. The first test is the easiest and then it's all down hill from there. good luck.

I agree with the evaluation dated 12/14/2005, this is not an easy class but her entertaining, upbeat lectures make all of the difference. I was sort of apprehensive going into this class after a classmate said this was his second attempt to try and get through her class. Her jokes and great sense of humor made what could have been a difficult and potentially boring class interesting and engaging. Her exams are hard because they usually cover a large amount of data (names, dates, techniques, etc.), but she is a fair grader. Spelling and grammar are important. The 4 page essay was assigned about 2/3rds of the way through the class and was difficult, so definitely give yourself time to do adequate research in the assigned resources. She does allow some extra credit that might involve a trip down to Nashville and the Frist for an exhibit, or the extra credit might involve some other art-related event. While this was a somewhat difficult class her good organization, frequent reviews, entertaining lectures, fairness in grading and genuine willingness to help made a huge difference and I thoroughly enjoyed her class.

This is the first history class that I've ever taken and ENJOYED! Heather is a wonderful teacher, and she makes learning a difficult subject not only easy, but interesting. The work you must do for your final paper is hard, but worth it in the end. Fun class, great professer!

This class was hard, but Professor Pulliam makes you laugh and knows a lot about the subject. You have to write an extremely hard essay paper, but if you research she will be able to tell and it helps. I loved this class only because she is really interesting and relates a lot of the images to beer. Take her, art survey isn't an easy class, so don't expect it to be.

If you even remotely like art do not take this class. You will not like it anymore if you do. This class was ridiculously hard. I took it during the summer and it was awful. It is mostly art history and dr pulliam makes it way too hard for a 100 level class. Find another appreciation class to take.

This class is a good one and Dr. Pulliam is funny as hell! I mean she is like a kid at heart and she is so funny! Her class is just mostly slides and notes and a research paper, if you get less than a C in here then you are dumb as hell! Take her she is good, and the class is long but not boring!

Dr. Pulliam is a pretty laid back teacher, but she is pretty unorganized. Her lectures are fairly easy to understand, but she tells you to study everything and the tests only have like 1/4 of the info, so you never know what youre going to have to know. You have to spell everything right or you get no credit.
Also, you have to write an essay, and our topic was extremely hard, but she gives ample time to do it.
She also gives a good amount of extra credit, but it is pretty tough.
Overall, the class is fairly easy if you pay attention, but beware of her absent-mindedness.

She is interesting and she keeps the class awake with her sense of humor. It is my earliest class and I really don't mind going. As long as you keep notes and know your dates the tests are easy. People think they are hard because they don't study. If you do bad on the first test don't worry there are plenty others and the tests are all the same so you will know how and what to study. She tells you what to study and writes EVERYTHING IMPORTANT on the board. Attendance is not mandetory but she gets you in because her tests come mostly from the lecture you only use your text for pictures. She is no hard ass and sometimes she will cancel class so you can "visit the library"

Dr. Pulliam ROCKS!!! She helps the students get involved in what they are learning rather than just talking to them. She makes her class a fun experience. Even made me consider a minor in art history. She even worked it out so that her early classes could have drinks in the classroom (coffee is key thing in the morning). Looking forward to taking Art Survey 2.

Dr Pulliam is a good professor, however, the final project was very cumbersome and a bit over the top. The course would have been fairly enjoyable and easy had it not been for that.

Heather is a great teacher and really enjoys teaching which shows in her lectures. She hasn't forgot what it is like to be a student so if you need help go to her. I took this class twice both times with her and the only reason i failed it the first time is because I stoped going. She doen't require you to be in class but it is a lot easier to pass the class if you actually go. She is a very funny woman and can make even the most boring info funny and interesting. So I deffinatly reccomend taking her for both survey 1 and survey 2. Also because I herd Kline is a killer and so stay away from him. Oh yeah one more thing the essays you have to write in this class were hard for me but I have a hard time with academic writing, but I am taking survey 2 now and I have gone to her for help and on my essay in this class in got a B. She told me usually if you turn in the essay and it goes along with the question she rarely ever gives below a c so turn your papers in ON TIME. If they are late you basically get an F on them but I reccomend even if it is going to be late to turn it in and get some credit because that is better than a zero. Well I hope my ranting will help you and take her she is great!!!!

Dr. Pulliam is a very interesting woman with an offbeat sense of humor; however, she knows the material very well and it shows. Her lectures are usually pretty interesting, though some days were better than others, and most of the time the test questions were straight from the lectures. In oteehr words, attendance is not madatory, but I HIGHLY suggest you do go; otherwise, you will be completely lost. You could get by without the testbook if you really wanted, but it was useful when studying for tests, for you had to be able to identify a lot of images that were in the book. Another good thing is the class basically creates the test. A few days before the exam she will divide you into groups and ask each group to create questions for the exam....so basically don't make the questions very difficult. Some people complain about some of the questions not being in the lectures, but that is the students doing, not Dr. Pulliam's. The grade is derived from the tests along with 2 essays....if you apply yourself, this class is a breeze!

She knows her material very well and proves it. She has a worldly education and maybe she can feel the need to be pushy to her students in a polite way. Her tests are very hard while there are those who make perfect A's, not many. Questions are on the test that are not vastly covered in the class, it is a trick. I learned a lot from her but I don't think she knows how to treat her classes that are the same level fairly in correlation with one another. Politeness from her is a sign that she has got her thumb on you. She hardly is greetful on a non-class basis.
