I gave her an O.K. rating since the good and the bad nearly canceled each other out. First, the bad: She is the most unprepared, unorganized professor I have ever come in contact with. She knows little, if anything concerning the topics of this class. There are quite a few times during the course that she would branch off on some tangent, while trying to answer a question from a student. The exams were not too hard (compared to Byrd, Ziegler, and Gary), but she must not understand her own questions, as she graded most of the exams poorly. There are always (as you have found out by now) multiple algorithmic solutions to a problem, yet she will discredit you for implementing your own. This caused a lot of students to lose confidence in her. The good: Since she didn't understand most of the topics, she tended to give out assignments that were too hefty in size (rather than concepts) for the amount of time needed to code. This led to assignments being pushed back several times. She is somewhat open to answering questions outside of class, yet you will get the feeling that you are "trying to expose" her for a lack of knowledge. Don't take this personally, as most people who took her for 250 got the same impression. I refuse to take her for another course, but this is only my 2nd year...so I might have to eat my own words. Also to her credit, there are times that she will offer extra credit. Typically these will be added to your exam point total. She does occasionally cut-up, which isn't something you see all the time in this department!
