Western Kentucky University / R / Leslyn Rushing

The class itself is extremely easy, but there are a lot of assignments. Mrs. Rushing gets way too stressed out about everything, and she is sometimes very rude. The class was scheduled to meet from 4 to 9 as a night class one time a week. We met the first part in the semester until 7 every evening, so she did not make us stay the entire time. In the middle of the semester, she decided that she wanted us to start staying the full scheduled time. She had another teacher come in for the last portion of the class so that she could go home. I did not think that it was acceptable as a teacher for her to leave while her students stayed the full time. The class is easy, but I would definately recommend another teacher.

This class is pretty fun, you get to make a lot of different projects throughout the semester and when the class is over with you get to keep them all. The only bad part of this is you start SO many projects, it is difficult to keep up with them all. Luckily, none of them are due until the end of the semester, when you turn them all in in your portfolio. There is no actual paper and pencil final, the portfolio is your final. You don't need the textbook, but be ready to fork out about $75 in art supplies in this class.

Besides the portfolio, we only had two assignments: a two page paper about an artist and our midterm, which we chose an artist, created a 20-slide powerpoint over the artist, and then we had to create a puppet to represent that artist and perform a skit.

Leslyn herself is nice but you can tell she is way too stressed out some nights. She works as an art teacher in Louisville and drove ALL THE WAY TO BOWLING GREEN every monday night after school for class. She is a good teacher, but make sure you stay on her good side.
