Dr. Richmond is a great teacher, but this course is very hard. If you have to have this class, this is the guy to take it with.

This class has been one of the most difficult math classes I have ever taken, however Dr. Richmond taught the material very well and helped me to understand the subject. He has been one of the very best math teachers I have ever had. The notes he provides you with in class are very useful and give you clear examples as to what will be on the test. Overall, I would tell anyone to take him because he's great.

Dr. Richmond was a wonderful calc teacher. He broke the material down into a way that was easy to understand. The tests and quizzes he gave were over the information that we went over in class and he told you what all was going to be on them so there were no surprises. He is a wonderful professor and I would HIGHLY RECOMMEND him to anyone taking calculus at any level.

Dr. Richmond is an excellent teacher. Be aware that this material is not like other math classes you will take if you are a math major. It requires more "out of the box" thinking than others. You will need to put forth much studying to succeed in this class.

He is a very nice teacher who is very willing to help. He always lets you know what to expect on the tests (gives you a practice test and the problems are generally the same and in the same order as they are on the real test just with different numbers) On his syllabus it says 4 or more unexcused absences may result in an "F" but I missed a minimum of 15 days and had no problems. Take this teacher, and good luck.

This class is different than other classes such as calculus. However, Dr. Richmond is one of the top professors at WKU in the Math department. He explains things clearly and effectively. You will need to put forth a fair amount of time of studying to get decent grades though, as this is a difficult class.

The class itself is not too terribly difficult. But, if you have to have an interesting teacher to keep you into the info, DON'T take him! He's nice enough, he just bores you to death! I've never been able to sleep in ANY class, and I found myself fighting to stay awake most of the time!
Easy A if you are into math...I'm not...It's just so hard to pay attention that you can't retain anything.

Although my grade doesn't reflect it (because I did bad on one of the tests) Dr. Richmond is a pretty good teacher. If you have trouble with math, I wouldn't recommend him because his teaching style can be kind of difficult to follow. However, if you have a pretty good background with math and learn it fairly easily, he is a good professor. He is kind to his students. I had him at 8:00 AM and naturally a lot of us came in late regularly but he never gave us trouble and was very understanding. If you like math, he is very helpful. As a math major, I enjoyed his class.

He is an awesome teacher. I am not great at math but I used his office hours almost everyday and got an A in here because of that. He explains things very clearly, and if you do not understand ask him he will keep explaining until you get it. If you are a LAZY STUDENT then do not take him because you will NOT LEARN anything.

Dr. Richmond is by far the nicest guy in the math department! It there is any chance at all you can take a class with Dr. Richmond do it! He gives quizzes from your notes in class. He grades relatively easy and is willing to start at the very bottom if you don't understand something. He makes calculus entertaining and amazingly interesting. There's never been another math teacher like Dr. Richmond. He's awesome!
PS-
Stay far, far away from his wife! She couldn't teach someone how to tie their shoes!

Dr. Richmond is a very efficient math teacher. He presents material in a way that most everyone can understand, and he is careful to make sure no one is lost. There were 4 or 5 tests plus the final, all of which he grades somewhat liberally, but each question is worth a lot of points. You can, however, be completely incorrect on a question and receive most credit for it. Most people in my class had Calculus sometime before, and I'm pretty sure those people at least made B's. I'll be looking to take Dr. Richmond for other math classes in the future.

I had Dr. Richmond for both 126 and 227. He was a wonderful professor. He explains concepts clearly so that the student can understand the material. However, you must come to class and do the homework(it is NOT taken up for a grade). He gives four tests(including the finial) and weekly quizes, but he always tells you what to expect on both the tests and quizes. If you pay attention and do the homework on a regualr basis you will do fine. Dr. Richmond is a very nice person and he will do his best to help out his students.

I absolutely hate Calculus. This guy did nothing to change that thought either. He gives hard quizzes almost every week sometimes two per. I can't believe that anyone learned in this class. I looked around the room on occasion and whoever wasn't asleep had a glazed over look on their face because no one knew what the hell Richmond was talking about. Maybe one or two actually knew what was going on because they seemed to be the only ones who would answer if he asked us something; maybe they had calculus in high school or something. I didn't. Classes like this piss me off because I don't learn anything and I'm not into wasting my time.

Mr. Richmond made this math class that I took my Sophomore year of high school seem horribly difficult. He has no idea how to teach this class. Tests are extremely too hard because he has no idea how to explain to the class how to do problems. If you ask a question, he will find some way to get around answering it. DON'T take this teacher.

I felt that Richmond did not care as to whether or not the class did well. No practice tests were given out, and none were available if requested. Tests did not cover material gone over in class or homework assignments. Class assignments were simple and easy to understand and tests were far more advanced than they should have been. Test material was very arbitrarily chosen, and often difficult. He actually had essay questions on the tests. Tests are usually one page, front and back, and although partial credit is given, difficult problems are often worth way too much of your grade. Teaching this class just seemed to be a big joke to him.

I thought Dr. Richmond was a great teacher; he explained every topic very thoroughly and is very open to questions. He assigns homework, but it is not required of you to do it, but it is very helpful. The final isn't has scary as you might anticipate, because it covers the big, important topics covered throughout the course. I definitely recommend taking Dr. Richmond for any math class; he is a teacher who actually teaches!

The material for this class is not hard to understand, but the way Dr. Richmond teaches this makes it impossible to understand. He adds stuff to the tests that was never discussed in class. Many people in class had done really well in high school calculus, but in Dr. Richmond's class have struggled. He's a very nice guy, but his teaching is very hard to understand. I would recommend to take another professor if at all possible.

Math used to be my strongest subject. Of all my classes, I have the lowest grade in this class. He is a nice guy, he has some corny jokes that are pretty funny, BUT he goes sooooooo in detail over the pettiest things, and is very confusing. His tests are very hard and don't even compare with the examples he gives in class. It is overall pretty hard. Study hard.

Mr. Richmond is a VERY good teacher! He explains everything is extreme detail and is ALWAYS willing to answer any questions. He assigns homework every night, but never checks it, only asks for questions over the homework problems at the beginning of every class. The tests are kind of difficult if you don't know what you're doing. ASK QUESTIONS! It'll be very helpful come test time!

I highly recommend Dr. Richmond. He is a very nice guy and is very helpful. Works examples and explains well. Tests are OK. The first test average was lower than he wanted, so he gave us a chance to make back some points by correcting our mistakes and handing the test back in. The second test average was higher, so there were no opportunities to raise scores. Take Richmond, do the problems he assigns (but never takes up), and it will come around right.

Math used to be one of my favorite subjects until now. Mr. Richmond makes math very hard and confusing. He shows you how he does the problems he asks you to do, but don't ever ask him to explain them. He can't! The test are very hard and he doesn't go from the review that he gives you. He assigns homework, but doesn't collect it. If you don't do it though you will be like me struggling to hold a C. If you looking for an easy math class steer clear of this one. He should be teaching advanced caculus instead of college alegbra.

He knows his math, however, he is extremely confusing. I was a straight A student in math in high school and even took calculus, but he makes things so difficult and doesn't even put all of what is going to be on the test on the review sheet. He is boring and if you take the class in the morning, all you want to do is go to sleep.

this was an easy course, but kind of dissappointing. I am a math minor and found it very repetitive of the subjects we covered in Math 307 and 310, but in less detail than in those classes. I would recommend this class to anyone who doesn't plan on taking 300 level math, but to all you math majors and minors, don't waste your time...
