understand that prof. stomps is a grumpy old man. also understand that after he's decided what he's going to give you in the class, that's what you get, whether it is fair or not. i attended regularly. i altered my artistic style to closer suit his suggestions. i learned an IMMENSE amount about drawing while in this class. the leaps and bounds i made were almost incredible. i got a C. how.... disappointing. it's just what he had decided to give me about half-way through the semester.

Stomps teaches drawing and painting and in both classes he rambles on like the senile, washed up professor he is. he criticizes students and has been known to bring the faint of heart to tears. he is a horrible teacher and does not know the definition of constructive criticism. Avoid him at all costs.

Walter Stomps is an excellent teacher. Several people think that they do not like the class and his teaching methods. They do not put themselves into the class as they should. He can be a grumpy old man at times but that is really o.k. because the other days he is really nice. You can only miss 3 times unless you have valid excusses and he likes people who come to class and focus on the task of the day. I was unsure of my self a couple of weeks or more into class because of his judgement of my work. Listen to his adivce and be unique and different as well as presentable, he is like a football coach...trust me you will benifit if you care about art.

Mr. Stomps can be grumpy, but after you're used to him, he can be very nice. Worked a lot with the figure, which was nice, valuable practice. Definitely a ladies man in his younger days.
