Mr. Stone is a nice guy but not a great teacher. comes in talking leaves talking. don't tell you anything other than to take notes. gives you review and is nothing like test. tests are very long, hard and complicated. i was there every day that's the only way i passed. wouldn't take unless you are just really good at history and love it.

Mr Stone appartently enjoys the sound of his voice, because the only thing you'll be doing is listening to him lecture. I didn't really enjoy this class to much, even though in past experience I've enjoyed studying history. You'll have to read the book in this class in order to do well on the test. There are 3 Exams. The first 2 are 100points, and the final exam is 160 points. This is the only thing that makes up the grade. Spring 2005 is suppose to be his last semester after teaching 3 generations... I would recommend finding a different teacher.

If you have to take this class do NOT take Mr. Stone, He's nice and all but he's one fo the worst teachers I ahve ever had. He rambles on in class and goes from one topic to the other VERY quickly and randomly for example one minute he's talking about Louis the 15th the next he's talking about Hitler. He does not give extra credit and only has 3 exams no other work to get grades on. He requires a book and it's good to have but you won't use it at all except to look up stuff for his test reviews because your notes won't help you.

I found this class to be ridiculously hard, especially for a 100 level class. This is a man who has been teaching for a long, long, time, and obviously has no grasp on what he has/has not taught and what the book does/does not cover. You only have four tests to get your grades.... that's it, no extra credit, no projects, no papers, not even quizzes. That's not that bad, except that his tests are ridiculously hard. You take at least 3 pages of notes a day, read a chapter a week, and when you do get the 8 page study guide and fill it out, when you get to the test you will feel horribly disgusted because half of the things that are on the test aren't discussed in the book or in your class notes. I went every single day and studied like a dog and I still ended up with a C, and it's really messed up my GPA. I do NOT reccoment this man for ANYONE, unless you're a mind reader.

Since this class is a Gen Ed class, you can't avoid it, but I do recommend avoiding Mr. Stone. While he is a very intelligent man, he's very monotonous and throws entirely too much information at you. I definitely recommend finding another teacher.

Richard Stone is one of the worst history teachers that I have ever had. He jumps around so much in his lectures that it is very hard to follow him. He also doesn't offer much help to students who have a hard time in his class. Avoid him if you can!

Well what can I say about Richard Stone...First of all he's a rambling old typical liberal ass history professor that makes it clear he leads a unhappy life and tries to make his students lead one as well. I'm not sure what the class average after the first exam was but from the 8 people who's test I saw I would estimate it to be in the 62%-68% range. He doesn't write shit on the board and it's very hard to take notes by just listening to his very annoying voice. You never get out early and take notes from the very start of the class until the very last second. This prick does give you a study guide in his defense, however you'll go crazy trying to make sure you can write a essay on all 30 topics he puts on the study guide. He picks 5 of those 30 topics and that's the entire exam. I got a 51% on the first exam and slapped this dickhead with a "W"
I had him in the Fall of 2001 and saw him at Houchens today reminding me to give him a shitty evaluation on here. When I saw him today he kinda breezed past me giving me a smug look, I'm sure it's not because he remembered me but like I said before he's not a happy person because he's always bitching about how much he hates the president. Don't take this man unless you're a bleeding heart liberal who loves to devote the majority of your studying time to learn about old Europeans that you could give two shits about. Screw Stone and screw Hist 120...by the way I retook it with Hugh Phillips and it's still a bitch but not nearly as bad as Dick Stone.

Everybody is giving this guy HORRIBLE evaluations.I wasn't overjoyed or anything to go to his class, but it wasn't that hard to make a B in the class. Just show up, take notes, and once he gives you a study guide, STUDY it!!! And by the way, he gives you the essays on the study guide... you know what's coming. I'm not overly smart or anything. I just showed up and listened. And by the way, for all you complainers out there... we aren't supposed to have cake classes in college. Yes, you might have to work a little harder but that's okay. I only studied one day before all of Stone's tests and I have a B. So, although he isn't the greatest professor in the world, he isn't the worst either!!!

Mr. Stone was the worst teacher I've either ever had...heard of....or seen of TV. DO NOT take this prick even if this is the only open class left during the semester and you need it to graduate. His tests are extremely hard and he gives you a study guide with 30 possible topics for the exam, however, only 5 of those topics are on the exam and he expects you to write a couple of paragraphs about each one. He spent quite a bit of time telling everyone to vote Democratic...I thought teachers gave you the facts and were supposed to let you make up your own mind. Anyways I withdrew after the first exam after he didn't even give me a grade but did write where the grade was supposed to be "Drop my class now." Don't take this bastard unless your life depends on it.

I would say he is rude. On tests he doesn't put on what he ways he will. He basically told me he didn't want me in the class when I made a bad grade on the first test. He didn't want to listen to what I thought and kind of walked away.

You do take a ton of notes in the class, but it is nothing that he isn't pulling from the textbook. This class is nothing but lecture and notetaking. You have only 3 exams but he gives out a review sheet with the essay test questions on it a week before every exam. He is kinda boring at times, but I learned a lot in the class.

I found that Stone was not an interesting teacher at all. His favorite students were the ones that discussed sports with him. I had to make sure that I had plenty of caffeine before entering his class in order to stay awake. I strongly suggest avoiding this class.

Mr. Stone does not make the material interesting. He gives three tests including the final and they are all essay tests. He hands out a review sheet two days before a test with at least 30 topics that you should be able to write a paragraph or two about. The actual test only has 5 of these topics on it, so you'll kill yourself trying to come up with a paragraph for 30 things and then mix everything up on the test. The guy who said he liked the class was the only guy who got an A - he always talked to him about the Mariners. Great guy, just don't take his class.

Professor Stone cares very little about the students in his class. on the first exam, only 1 person made an A; a few made a B; and everyone else got a C or below. His tests are unreasonable. This class is not worth the headache or the damage it will do to your gpa.

Stone likes the WWII period and spends a lot of time on that before getting to 1945 and beyond. He is very passionate but sometimes boring when he repeats the Yalta Conference over and over. 4 books with a short paper on each, no texts.
