Additional Comments |
Although I had a pretty good understanding of database concepts and SQL before taking the course, I did gain some knowledge as well.
As far as Pulliam's teaching... first, I don't like how she constantly uses the overhead to show copies from a different textbook. The overheads aren't up there long enough to see everything, and we can't find the same stuff in our books. In addition, sometimes she doesn't do a real good job explaining stuff or can't answer students' questions. However, she is very personable and she'll make the effort to help you if you try.
The tests aren't easy, but they're not impossible either. But don't worry too much--there'll be chances for extra credit. We were given an opportunity to retake our lowest exam (we only had two regular exams), and she gives points for participating in ACM and other CS related activities.
So, all-in-all if you put forth a little effort in this class, there's absolutely no reason you can't get a good grade.
