Professor Civelek is a genius, and some what intimadating. At the begining of the semester I considered dropping the course, but I'm SO glad I didn't. I got an A mainly because I came to class (attendance points), did the extra credit, and did well on the group projects. Just make sure you have a good group, and you'll be okay.

Professor Civelek is tough, I almost dropped his class at the beginning of the semester. But I'm really glad I didn't! If you go to every class, and do the optional cases you will be fine! Don't sweat the test, they're really hard, but it's still possible to do well in the class. I recommend him!

I won't lie, this course is very hard. He's very smart, and has a hard time dumbing down the material. He teaches at an Ivy League level, but this is Western Kentucky. If you're up for the challenge then I'd say go for it, but if you're looking for an easy teacher I'd suggest taking someone else. He's really helpful when it comes to the case studies and homework. If you stop by his office hours, he explains exactly what to do. You do these case studies and homework in groups. He grades on a curve, which is very helpful in the end. He posts a sample midterm and final which are similar in style/content to the actual tests but not exactly the same. He posts his lecture notes on blackboard, but the only complaint I have with that is that he posts the slides so many times with one extra word or part to them. This uses A LOT of paper and runs your print dollars down. Attendance is 5% of your overall grade, but the less you miss the more percentage you get. If you miss more than 7 days you get 0 out of the 5%, but it doesn't hurt your grade too bad. Overall I'd say he's a good teacher, but pretty tough. If you like to slack, then I'd suggest taking someone else.

Don't waste money on the textbook, because you'll never use it. This class can be pretty boring, but Dr. Civelek helps to keep it interesting and funny at times. He has a pretty big curve at the end, but there's no reason you should need it. He gives so much partial credit during his exams that an A should be easy for the average person. Print the power points out before class and take notes on there. Make sure you do the practice midterm and final, because they are VERY similar to the real thing. His cases and HWs can be pretty hard, but don't be discouraged by the Cranberry case...it gets much easier after that one. Take this professor and he will help you!

Exceptional professor. One of the best WKU has. A hidden jewel of WKU. TAKE HIM as a 1st choice! We were lucky enough to have 7 people so the class was a lot more fun than 314 with him.
